BTW, I just got off the phone with Yaka. He invited me to his house for the Lahu New Year in mid January. It would be cool if people who saw this video go too. Yaka works as a tour-guide now, so he can arrange accommodations for anyone who goes. ;-)
Yeah, "Pa" Thep Phongam is a great guy. I really like him too... but, uh, he wasn't in this film. I did a crazy show with him once but have yet to be on film with him (unlike my friend Joey, who was in "Duk Dum Dui")
A comment from Barbara Negelow: This is remarkable and insightful portrait. Very beautifully done. Kudos to Jonathan. Looking forward to much more from this young artist. Thank you so much.

It's been 7 years since I was last in Chiang Rai Provence visiting
the many hill tribes, Lahu included, I wonder if I have actually
seen Yaka's village, his family or himself?! Give him my kind regards.

This is a superb documentary about Yaka's aspirations
for alternative "serious" jokes to be heard on Thai
mainstream comedy theatre.
Don't be concerned about the quality of this fine film. It's perfect to me, and requires no further remixing. That's why you won the award.
It's 9 months since you released the film, so I've no idea if my comments here are still appropriate.
