  • this is a joke. If you want real space metal listen to Arcturus!!

  • no se por que pero escucho esta cancion y digo DRAGON BALL!!!!

  • Started to like this after I'v heard their tribute to Dune with Sandrider.

  • <3 Russell Allen <3

  • Space Metal ? Are you kidding ? haha

  • I shall never take metal serious again.

  • EVE ONLINE SONG OF DOOM!!

  • "Law makers. Law breakers. Let us fight them all, why not?"

  • reminds of Deep Purple

  • Its great!

  • Not bad...if only it was more fast-paced and with harsh vocals...

  • Not bad...if only it was fast-paced and with harsh vocals =(

  • Not bad...if only it was fast-paced and with harsh vocals :(

  • @SlimJimVG what do you mean with that?

  • gained 50k views not bad!!!! hails!

  • I love this song so freakin' much XD

  • Stratovarius taken to the extreme, not musically, but as ideas and lyrical themes

  • Space Metal, very original this stuff :D

  • space rock mix with progressive metal look awesome : )

  • Am I the only one that heard the Horus Heresy just now?

  • gotta buy their two cds now haha so good.

  • Does Damian Wilson sound out of tune during the chorus to anyone else? It still sounds great but it seems to be a little sharp to me...

  • @TheBlash I'm quite sure it's intensional. Well executed out-of-tunliness can be an incredible form of expression.

  • lol typed in space metal as a joke, this stuff is good :)

  • @MrFirestorm102 I totally did exactly the same thing. It got me onto Ayreon and I've never looked back!

  • @MrFirestorm102 did the same thing XD

  • @MrFirestorm102 Haha me too!

  • @MrFirestorm102 So did I :)))

  • @MrFirestorm102 hahaha sameeee

  • Masterpiece =)

  • these guys are pretty good reminds me of deep purple

  • I'm severely disappointed that this isn't on iTunes. God DAMN is this a great song! I haven't heard the full album yet, but Perfect Survivor is awesome, too.

  • @kman756 Man, you have to listen to it. It is awesome!

  • Blake's an idealist. Those are the most dangerous beings

    - Kerr Avon

  • Wohooo Blake's 7

  • Combines Progressive Metal and Space Rock awesome

  • Arjen Lucassen and his creations are Epic <3

  • How many Star One albums are there?

I've bought the 'Victems of the modern world' 2 weeks ago. And as always, it's another Arjen Lucassen masterpiece. So I defenitly want to buy more star one things. (already own all Ayreon projects)

  • @Soldierlozer only 3 Star One albums so far. Space Metal from 2002..then Live on Earth released in 2003.

  • ....Deep Purple from the Future...!!!

  • @Terrormorphica - it does, doesn't it? I generally don't label what band sounds like, yet the keyboard does take me back to Deep Purple.

  • Listening to this while playing Mass Effect 2. Is there a better song to fit the mood?

    The answer is no.

  • reminds me of deep purple lol

    very cool song though

  • WOW! Good Song I Like It!

  • τραγουδάρα,μεγάλο κόλλημα!

  • @spyromagic etsi re mlk elladara!!!!!

  • the live version is alot better, i didnt like the chorus on the studio version, i don know, maybe couse i saw the live video first.... dunno

  • Awesome album - what makes Space Metal so great is that it has it's own flavor, it's own sound. When you hear ANY song off this album you know it's off Star One!

    Truy unique metal!!!

  • I listened to a lot of this kind of music 2 years ago (allen/lande, star one + ayreon). now I am looking for "space metal". some kind of melodic death or ambient

  • @tobbessen I'd suggest Voivod (Nothingface and Phobos albums), some of Devin townsend's solo work, Dark Star (they are black metal, with a space theme)...

  • @tobbessen Oh I forgot Ufomammut (stoner/doom metal). If I can think of anything else I will let you know :)

  • @theeducatedfool I did not know there WAS a new album! I thought the band was designed as like a "onefer." Thanks!!

  • Only one dislike so far.

Good song, doesn't deserve even that one! :)

  • @orabillis haha you are a pacifist right? everyone would be raging after seeing dislikes in their songs :P

  • @RodrigoMera Nope, just don't see the point in raging online to a bunch of people that I don't even know or will never know... :)

And I really don't care whether others like this song or not, I enjoy it and that's enough for me :)

  • Not meldic enough I'm sorry

  • looks like 1 astronaut got lost in space...

  • Please, can someone explain to me what is so good about this song? I see everywhere "best song ever" "So brillant" "this dude is god!". Don't make me say what I didn't, this is absolutely not bad but there is just a bass that plays linearly, same for the guitar on 4 or 5 chords... The voice is good but monotone... I don't understand why so many like it! althought I love heavy metal like thunderstone, judas priest, europe that does play in this heavy style

  • @Sw0re Others' mileage may vary, but I found this because I'm a Blake's 7 junkie, and this is one hell of a filk song.

  • This album just plain rocks! I found it accidentally a few years ago and have been enjoying it ever since!

I have heard the new album and must admit some disappointment - it doesn't have the same feel as the previous.

  • Whoa, that dude sounds creepyly similar to the singer from Symphony X (which definately isn't a bad thing).

  • @Aussie27Legend Probably because Russell Allen is indeed singing in this song :P

  • @Aussie27Legend it is the same guy

    russel is a god :D

  • @Aussie27Legend That's because it is him. Arjen is so epic that he got him to be a part of his project.

  • Listen to this Album when you playing Mass Effect or stuff like that!

    Very good^^

  • @DogMowl *snerk* Considering what this song IS (the best damn Blake's 7 filk I've ever heard), play it with a Renegade Shepherd with the first name "Kerr"

  • One of the best Star One songs; up there with "Set Your Controls" and "Songs Of The Ocean".

  • Man, love me some Arjen Lucassen. This album makes me want to watch all the shows and movies that these songs are based on. In fact, I think I might do that...

  • Arjen Lucassen is awesome. This song made me come in my pants. I love SX's Russel Allen's vocals in this too.

  • Nobody dislikes it, it's obv why too :D

  • One of my favorites songs thus far. I like all of Arjen's stuff but this one just to me is simply awesome ^_^

  • Great music!

  • I think the first thing that humankind should do when we first meet aliens is give them this album.

  • well star trek online players now we know wut ull set ur vids to.. lol

  • @dillonnoilld: Yeah, that would be cool. But perhaps "Songs of the Ocean" of the same album would be an even better choice, since it's about one of the Star Trek films? (This one's about Blake's 7.)

  • It's sooo Intergalactic Space Crusadeeeers! XD Epic! Just Epic!

  • This is awesome.

  • LOL Thanks for sharing this!

  • awesome! :)

  • AWESOME! :)

  • This is why YouTube videos are good. I found the "Hawkwind Medley" by accident, and then found this song. Never had even heard of Star One. Now, I bought Space Metal, then the expanded Space Metal, THEN the live album. Looking for a video. That's a lot of bux.

But groups like Disturbed don't get it, and ruthlessly snatch any postings of their stuff. Ask me? Stupid and short-sighted. Word of mouth is the best salesman of all, and YouTube videos - even tweaked ones - just create interest.

  • @terresti Couldn't agree more, Earthling. : ) Same principle that drove things like Dr. Horrible; released free on the Web and made a ton of money from DVD sales. Might even call it the wave of the future, eh?

  • @terresti Star One is another project of dutch prog metal genius en ex - Vengeance guitarist Arjen Lucassen. If you like this, you should probably check out his

"Ayreon" project as well "Into the electric Castle" "Universal Migrator part 1& 2"

"The Human Equation" and" 0101001" are true masterpieces.

  • @terresti Actually it's not the groups doing it. It's their labels. Disturbed happens to be signed to a label who's a member of the RIAA, and the RIAA is a buck of dipshits who wouldn't know a cash cow if it shat in their cereal. They're too busy suing photocopiers and innocent old ladies who don't even own a computer to give two shits about doing the 'right' thing.

  • @terresti cannot agree more. Without these videos I would not ever have discovered lots of bands and tons of good music, including this one.. wonder if ever those label companies realize this and stop hunting down youtube music videos...

  • @terresti Have checked out their newest one yet? Victims of the Modern Age is a damn awesome album!

  • @terresti It's not actually Disturbed doing that, it's WMG. Note how every band they signed has that effect regardless of whether the band themselves want it

  • you gave HIM away ;) -nice sound bites

  • god damn epic song :))

  • listen to some scar symmetry or some djent bands .. that is some real COSMIC stuff xD

  • @diegoc2000 Cynic.

  • Space metal! Shit year! LOLOLOLOL I don't swear on websites, but I could'nt resist myself. LOLOL

  • Damn it! I am just noticing this is Progressive rock + Heavy Metal = Progressive Metal.

Prog. Metal + Psychedelic Rock = Space Metal

Since Prog Rock + Psy Rock is space rock.

Just wondering out, this is so damnly cool, i am on a triiiip

  • oh how naive i can be, the other day i was doin some shredding and i was like, holy shit SPACE METAL!!! i could invent a new fucking genre!!!!!!! but now i know the sad truth that my idea isnt so new. lol. but its bitter sweet because although i didnt invent a genre :( i found a new kickass strain of metal like iv never heard before. SPACE METAL IS THE SHIT!!!!!

  • there's actually a fairly old kind of rock called "space rock"...one of the first bands to be called that is hawkwind, which lemmy of motorhead fame played bass in before he went to do his own thing. i think lucassen was making a reference to the space rock genre by calling it space metal, especially since he does a medley of hawkwind covers on the bonus disc

  • This is my new favourite song. <3

  • Floor and Irene Jansen make this song's chorus WAY better in the live version, it's a great song, but live is better.

  • gotta say i liked the live version better

  • @junkfood6 It IS better! They're both great, and I usually don't like Live stuff, but it's so powerful and fun; AND it sounds less rehearsed & Top Forty. Pure & strong.

Oh - and electric guitar replaces the keybourd solo.

  • Space Metal

  • Excellent song. Gotta say he has a great voice!

  • Genius! Absolutely great!

  • shit man this guy has a great voice

  • You are absolutely fucking right, but there is not one single guy singing this song, there are two... On is a man named Damian and the other is Russell Allen from Symphony X, in my opinion, one of the greaetst voices in metal ever

  • putting Damian and Russell together is the best thing one could do.

Damian + Russell = EPIC WIN!!

  • lol very great song

  • This is the best power metal song ever.

    5/5

  • space metal*

  • @cberning9 I thought it was called Space metal.

  • @cberning9 this aint power metal at all

  • @Stalwartspacestation Actually, if you notice, there's a lot of Power Metal elements in it. First of all, the vocals are clean and well-sang, second, the Epic atmosphere all over, third, chorus with choir.

I'd say it's an awesome mix of Power Metal and Prog Metal and Space Rock.

  • @Gretgor666 "Space Rock" lol that's a new one I haven't heard before. I guess Europe - The Final Countdown would be "Space Rock" as well? Defintely Power and Prog. Cool stuff, right now is the first time I ever heard of this band!

  • @metalhead4lifeyeah Look it up on Wikipedia, it's an awesome old-school psych/prog rock genre.

  • @cberning9 yeah dude so many good times rocking out to this shit

  • This song is based on 'Blakes 7' and is sung from the POV of Blake and Avon.

  • This song kicks ass

  • It's an interesting song.. I'd listen to more of there stuff.

  • THIS SONG PWNS !!! its soo fricken cool

  • Great song

  • Damian Wilson and Russell Allen in one song = amazing. See both in my Males Voices of Metal Tributes video on this user name adgTributes.

This song is amazing live too.
