ya they are sold commercially, u can buy them at many stores. ex = best buy. or online. u can build your own for a lot cheaper, in fact they sell the kits for about $20-$30. the already built ones are bout $100.. hope that helped some

since team Ryouko competes they do alot of open forms and the sword ( katana) is one of the flashier weapons so they implement alot of their choreography for that to the light saber
