Like many others I do not know if  Barack Obama was born an American Citizen.

But to be President my understanding, and I might be mistaken, is that one must either be born in These U.S. or it's territories. Or both parents must be U.S. citizens at the time of the child's birth, if born outside U.S. boarders.

Now what circumstances would make the Presidency unattainable for a U.S. Citizen.

Even if one is U.S. born they would be ineligible if they:

1) are a convicted felon.

2) are not born a natural Citizen of these U.S. (naturalized does not mean natural).

3) even one is born a natural U.S. Citizen and then leaves this country to become a citizen of another country, then comes back and becomes once again a U.S. Citizen. This only makes them a naturalized Citizen not a natural Citizen and there fore is ineligible to hold the office of the President of these United States.

@baller1661 My understanding is that "natural born" status requires that both parents be US citizens, regardless of birthplace. Vattel restricts that birthright to just the citizenship of the father, again regardless of birthplace. For arguments sake, I always assume BHO was born in Hawaii. However, it was to a British subject father and a mother too young to even confer on BHO dual citizenship status. Ergo, Barry is ineligible coming out the gate, so to speak!
