A bust i think not? jsut his body, adn shoulders gave out.. GO HAWKS Aaron curry is ur definition of a bust! 4th pick in the draft and that nigga aint done shit!..lol boz is good always in on action!
When Bosworth entered the NFL, he discovered two things: Everyone was as good or better than he was. Nobody gave a $h#t who he was or what he did in college.
This was the year that the Seahawks were picked to go to the Super Bowl by SI because of the way they ended the previous year, and because they got Bosworth.
Bosworth had size, speed, strength, & smarts. He showed excellent feet & a great burst. He could canvas the field, take good angles, was hard to cut off on outside plays & could cover. He could stuff the one-on-one block & was a punishing tackler. But he tended to overrate his strength & tried to overrun everyone. Blockers were considerably bigger in the NFL than they were at Kansas State. Is that what happened to his left shoulder? Maybe he should have been an outside LB, not inside.
Could you break down his acting skills for me...j/k. The Boz is really a classic case of people (most of whom have nothing going for them) taking pleasure in watching a guy who had it all take a fall. It happened due to his injuries, yet so many people choose to think otherwise. Ray Lewis would have gotten run over by Bo Jackson on that Monday night play.
I agree. I still don't know what anyone saw that was so special about that Bo Jackson play. He did NOT run Boz over, and it was a very ordinary looking play. The reason I don't break down his acting skills is because I consider this an NFL site. I just try to talk about the real history of the NFL, and I was basically sticking up for Bosworth and his talents and explain what really happened with his career. When I do so, it bores lots of people while upsetting others, like 1985 Bear worshippers
Unlike Bosworth, Bo Jackson would NOT play hurt. Jim Brown once said,"One time the announcer said that Bo had an ankle injury and was out of the game and then they showed him on camera running to the locker room with a trainer. If you can run to the locker room, you can stay on the field and run the football".
Bo Jackson was not an issue for a defense in short yardage or in the passing game. If you stopped him early in the game, you had him beat. According to one book, Bo "had a tendency to come out of a game with what others regarded as minor injuries". Todd Christensen once said, "Marcus Allen was a true mensch. I saw him catch 5 passes in a game with a broken hand and you could see him wearing the cast. Contrast that with Bo, who won't play if he has a sore tonsil." Bosworth would play hurt.
@fukinblowme I saw on Investigative Discovery channel recenlty, about how this one guy "methodically poisoned his neighbors, not because he was mad at them, but simply because he found them annoying". Could you imagine what would have happenned to me if I were his neighbor? I would have been dead meat.
@plntntvzn Lol. My neighbor won't fix his home's hurricane damage from 5 years ago. It's boarded up like a Haitian shack and he'd rather spend his disability money (my tax dollars) on getting drunk before noon. I have to apologize for the dump next door every time I have someone come over. He's bringing down my property value as well. Poison sounds like a good idea...j/k.
@fukinblowme steve emtman could play when he was healthy. injury busts are busts nonetheless, boz is no exception. at least they can take more pride in their career than the average bust haha.
@douchiedude A bust is a guy who washed out because his skills weren't on a level. That's what that term implies. LONG LIVE THE BOZ !!! "911, I'm gonna need, (looks around the room) five ambulances"..."I'm gonna count to three, anyone who wants to leave can leave, anyone who stays is gonna get hurt" !!! "Get off my horse" !!!
@fukinblowme Bust (sports), derogatory term for a player who is drafted at a high position and fails. i'm pretty sure getting paid a then record $11 million dollars to play 24 career games counts as failing, regardless of how good you are.
@douchiedude Where did you get that definition from ? The douchebag dictionary ?To fail is to try and not succeed. When the Boz was healthy, he made plays when he was on the field, he was hardly a failure. You're failing at making an intelligent point.
@fukinblowme LOL i fail making an intelligent point? i'm pretty sure "the douchebag dictionary" says it all. sure, boz doesn't regret his career but i would bet a million dollars that he wishes he could have had a long, successful career. they don't say rookies will go on to have "short but talented careers" for a reason, when it's cut short because of injury, you're considered a bust and PLENTY of players are called busts because of that, boz is no exception.
@jdlund There are people who know a lot more than you do about football who would tell you that you're way off. The Boz had twenty tackles in an NFL playoff game and sent the other teams starting TE to the locker room with a legal hit (against the Oilers). Try again. He also happens to be the greatest action hero of all time (j/k). LONG LIVE THE BOZ !!!
10 tackles as a Rookie in a Play-off game on the road. How is that a "bust"?? And he TOOK OUT the Oiler's starting TB, Mike Rozier. Boz layed-out a lot of top players with clean legal hits.
Incredible logic!! Are you serious?! Boz retired 100% due to INJURY. I'm talking about his play on the field. He dominated this playoff game as a Rookie. Gale Sayers only played from '65-'70. I guess he's a "BUST"! Jim Brown only played from '57-'65, and he didn't have a career-ending injury. He's nearly a "bust" according to you! Stars retire early to injury every year. That doesn't make them "busts".
@madjohne Thanks for the logic compliment! Sayers also had a 6 td game, Almost 2300 all purpose yards his rookie year, was a rookie of the year with 4 pro bowls. Coming from Chicago my friend I have seen more than my fair share of busts. From what I'm getting from your logic is one good playoff game against the Houston Oilers is a barometer for a good career. If thats the case Frank Reich should be on Mt. Rushmore. Nice to see you'd put Brown, Sayers , and Boz in the same sentence lol
@madjohne Does it make a great player a bust if his career ends early? In the NBA Drazen Petrovic and Reggie Lewis were all stars and team captains and were both dead by 30 in 1993. If you can look at the bottom line when a number one pick( in the supplemental draft) records 4 sacks, gets showed up by the great Bo who had a solid career til he went out, yes their is a huge difference between the two that was also the end of the road for those Seattle teams. it's viewed as a disappointment.
He's the greatest college linebacker to ever play, and had his boby not given out, he'd have been the greatest NFL linebacker too. Don't ever doubt that. This guy was the finest linebacker specimen to ever play the game of football. "The Boz"....Boomer Sooner!
@ad287 LB??? LT? the late great Derrick Thomas? Butkus? Singletary? Lewis? Urlacher? Many college greats just dont hack it in the pros, He was one of them... Look at the QB class this year, Clausen, Bradford, McCoy, Tebow, the latter 3 are 3 of the best college QB's ever... We'll see how that translates to the pros
Boz was a hell of a FOOTBALL PLAYER, very seldom seen anymore. He wasn't a bust, his body just gave up on him. Watch him play for play and he played balls to the wall. I can respect that.
steriods killed him broke his body. Also he wasnt the sharpest tool in the shed
