I'm an art student that uses watercolor on paper. The point is that he was engaging in self-expression which, illegal or not, is not as grotesque and absurd as being happy that he's dead and basking in his misfortune. I think it's lame to put such rules on what is art and assume that legality plays any part in the legitimacy thereof.

I think it's a bit absurd that people are expressing their distaste for the supposed immorality of graffiti by essentially basking in this man's death. So... to you people it's more acceptable to take joy in and make jokes about someone dying than it is to paint a picture on something? My sympathy - but only for the guy that ran over this scum. You do stupid shit like this and that is the risk you take. If the deceased scum was 28 and that inmature and dumb,my only hope is that he didn't have any kids. Not because I would feel bad for them, but because his degraded genes ended with him that night. Hopefully his death will deter future vandals, since the price tag of $46 K for the cleaning up the last tagging stunt on signs over I-95 didn't seem to phase them.

Technically graffiti is "criminal mischief" .In the vast majority of cases vandalism charges, which can include destruction of property, graffiti and tagging is considered a misdemeanor and results in fines, restitution and community service.
