  • This video concept is close to what i have in mind for this awesome song which I think is one of Joe's best ever. I always see a summer morning, afternoon ,eveing with clouds building into a thunderstorm and by late afternoon the storm moving off and the sun setting in the evening with the storm off in the distance and lightening dancing...might sound goofy to some but thats just how my mind projects what this song is saying lol. be cool if anyone had video footage of a day like that.

  • I learned how to play this tune that night he play reno! I laying in recovery after a major heart attack! morphored out,,,, left body and went to the show anyway! a few weeks later after a cracked chest(by-pass) I could pick up my guitar,, and play this tune! I do remember hearing this tune while in surgery!! still amazes me! lol

  • This song is really named Cannabis Carbon Fiber.

  • This was my favorite Joe Satriani album. The most unique guitar music album out there. Tell me who else even came close? No one else did something like this.

  • Such a great song. Listening to his music, I've found many of his songs that for whatever reason, impact me on a completely different level. This and "Wind in the Trees" off the new album are like that for sure!

  • Flying in a blue dream & surfing with an alien are great albums

  • @claytonlee1975 The Extremist, too. And his new one. And the one before that. And the one before that...

  • brilliant song.

  • The most sensitive microphones are our ears!

  • @xesionprince okay you mean headphones right

  • "They are sleeping".....it was the original title......Mr.Satriani said that.....it's ok. Beautiful song...!!!!

  • This song takes me away to a better place!

  • Can anyone give me some tips on how to get a really open singing tone for like fusion? I want something really uncompressed... Does that mainly just come from a cranked (or clean??) tube amp with an OD in front? thx

  • Hero for ever......

  • From "The Electric Joe Satriani: An Anthology":

"This was originally titled 'As They Sleep', referring to watching my wife and son soundly sleeping while I lay awake having metaphysical questions race through my head. Our lives pass by so quickly. A lifetime is simply not enough time to share with your loved ones, but there it is. I changed the title one daywhile I was working on the song. . . on my back porch, watching the clouds race above me, seemingly out of sych with me and my life. . ."

  • travel from the earth to !!!! ^^

  • la seule personne capable de jouer cette chanson avec une telle intensité d'émotion s'appelle Joe Satriani, le meilleur guitariste de tous les temps

  • the only person capable of played this song with such intensity of emotion is called joe satriani , the best guitarist of all the time

  • Without a doubt, one of Joe's best songs ever. Too bad many fans disliked the unique style....

  • Beautiful Song!! Man this song really touches the soul. Underground Insomniac you really matched the music with the images perfectly. The images match what I would imagine when listening to this song before I ever saw someone else's vision perfectly. This song is so beautiful and at the same time hits me with this heart wrenching melancholy, its a strange and beautiful mix of emotions it takes me back to what the beginning of Fall feels like on the East Coast as a teenager. I love this song.

  • who the fuck would dislike such a masterpeice?????

  • this is the most beautiful song i have ever heard well done sir

  • this is the most beautiful song i have ever heard well done sir

  • Hey check out my new song its kind of in a similar style but nothing compared to satriani. SATCH ROCKS

  • This song makes me melt! I Love It :-)

  • joe satriani doesnt play guitar, guitar plays joe satriani

  • Massive satch fan, never heard this track before,

but loved it, worked very nicely with the pics:)

  • for some reason this song is best at like 6 30 in the morning when the sun is coming up and youre riding a bus somewhere. or right around noon when youre wanting to take a nap.

  • Real talent like this just doesn't get enough recognition.

  • @Armorchafe1

and I think it should stay this way. Obviously, Joe Satriani is so advanced that it will take an advanced ear for some to even *listen* to him. So I commend you. All of the '21,752' people that watch this video are much more musically toned than Justin Bieber's 300,000,000 (per video) followers. Auto-tuned singing over drum loops has NOTHING on Joe Satriani. If you find his music and are enchanted by it, then you deserve to listen. Especially a song so 'hidden' as this one

  • @dahudge14 Well said. After thinking I see you're right it does take an advanced ear and perhaps a little higher intellect.

  • @Armorchafe1 Yes, I agree...

  • yo Undergroundinsomniac,yo brother thks for this beautiful song.love it to death.u r the man bro.take care and thks again.

  • Man this song is sooo cool...satriani is the man!

  • j.s. did you know that a chord in space could adjust the time continuum? I made an invention to do just the thing with magnetic quantum theory.

  • asturias on acid.

  • tnx for the post....great memories....

    greetings from Italy

  • I agree. I purchased this album shortly after it was released, rushed home to give it a listen, and nearly discarded it. There was a time not so long ago when I thought if it wasn't pushing the boundaries of technical difficulty it wasn't cool. Years later when I finally decided to give this album another chance it changed my view of music altogether, and now I can say with all honesty that Engines is the most beautiful and thought provoking collection of sounds I have ever heard.

  • As you say "thought provoking sounds", I'll suggest you:

Plaid - "Assault on Precinct Zero"

Tangerine Dream - "Cradle of Prodigies"

  • so true. never discard music of 3 guitarists in particular. Vai, Satriani and Petrucci. Each of these I did not get into initially, but give them time they will reward your musical ear 100 fold. Take the time, learn, be inspired grow and enjoy what these masters have devoted their life and being to.

  • Great song and awesome choice of picture, something I would think of if I'm listening to this song.

  • I agree. Being a master in guitar doesn't actually have to be a speedy musician. It's all about the music itself, not how fast you can play.

  • Alwayss loved this track---Satriani at his awesome best.

  • adoro questo brano!!

  • Joe Satriani = out of this world with a guitar!!!

  • @Multifarious222 Well said! Satch IS out of this world!

  • I was just listening to this today in my car and thinking that this song would go great with a time lapse of the sky changing and morphing. Sjs.

  • Just to emphasize the last paragraph; as a musician, I love Joe for everything he has brought to music. He doesn't get enough recognition for his work.

  • Music labels sell music like Macy's sells clothing. This is what's in style, this is what is being pushed on the radio, and you will accept it as the music of your generation because anything else is "old school." The modern musical culture is almost as stupid as the first people to learn to beat on animal pelts. Give them a beat and a babbling criminal that can't shut up and they will dance like pagans stomping around a campfire and sacrificing chickens. A master like Joe isn't loved by idiots

  • This helps me relax and go to sleep easily

  • How the fuck can someone like Rihanna have 30,000,000+ Views on songs and this have 6,298? Gross injustice. May all soulless pop burn in hell forever

  • @dvsdez I agree; I never liked today's pop music anyways ever since 2001...

  • @dvsdez im french and i'm the 28059TH to listen this song and i suppose not the last ...... this is the masterpiece of joe satriani's song , this song transport all people to the cosmos intersideral and sodomise rihanna by all the holes ^^

  • @dvsdez amen!! preach it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dvsdez Because work like this requires thought beyond the mundane.

  • @dvsdez mate, it's supply and demand. :)

  • @dvsdez

The Illuminati my friend. Once they are gone, pure music will return.

  • @sandman130 your dumb.

  • @undergroundwest9

I'm dumb? Your the typical ignorant fat American. White little bitch with nothing but gangsta rap videos to make you feel like you got a dick. Do some research about how your country is really run, and then maybe if your whore mother had enough brain cells left to make that pile of shit called a child think for once in its life you would realize how fucken DUMB you are!

    WAKE UP you ignorant bitch.

  • @dvsdez The same people that made SOPA possible.

  • one of Satch's best songs. too bad it's so damn buried, my god.

  • I looked this up for the first time in a long time and I was reminded why I got into guitar in the first place. Joe can shred, but he doesn't do any riff for sheer speed. He does everything intently and purposefully to maintain the feel and melody of the music. Clouds race across the sky is so beautiful. I get tired of seeing all 3 comments for his work too and, most of the time, it's something from a tone deaf idiot that speaks evil against his musical genious.

  • i love this song! this was such an underated record

  • this track and the rest of engines of creation album is underrated. this is a perfect example of creativity...

  • totally agree

  • epic vid- nice 1 :)

  • just awesome

  • This song needs so much more publicity. It is my favourite song to relax to by Satch. Magic

  • Pure gold.

  • my favorite guitarist playing another beautiful song

  • Just an amazing song...so much emotion.

  • this is eternal song...from heaven.

  • this is an absolutly beatiful riff. phrygian.

  • I believe this is lydian. So amazing

  • this is true. its 2 bars of C lydian and 2 bars of B phyrigian, alternating . but its based around phrygian cause of the minor 2nd feel C to B, to C to B etc starts off in lydian and resolves to phyrgian each time.

  • C lydian and B phrygian are exactly the same anyway. you just make B the root for it to be phryg

  • Love this music! Cool pictures too(just an idia, you could make them move by adding ease in or out effect).

  • Yeah, I wish I had thought about that when I made the video. I'll see if I can change it. Thanks for the idea.

  • @supernovalight I'd love to make a video like this too, with all the clouds and storm pictures I have. Just don't know how to get around the copyright of the song though. So, I'm enjoying your (Engines of)...Creation.

  • so nice song. a journey in the sky/air I wish would never end.

  • So moody, so fantastic!

  • i have listened this song, maybe 1000 times . clouds sounds so . and Joe knows it . thanks .

  • i have listened this song, maybe 1000 times . clouds sounds so . and Joe knows it . thanks .

  • Simply Amazing!

  • Beatiful, awesome song!!!!!! Good work.....
