Matt was the best tennis player I came across when i was playing junior tennis. He was so much better than me that it wasnt even fun for him to play against me. He got even better which is kind of scary
I'd sure like to play him, I'm an attacking player, and attack vs. attack usually= a blast...I'm kind of surprised he even lost seeing as how that guy he was up against pretty much played everything I saw in the video right into Matt's strength...Then again I never cared for chopping. P.S. 1969 is a great first hardbat.com rating to have...almost as high as mine.
When playing at a higher level you need to switch from forehand to backhand in milliseconds, i'm not sure you can do that with two hands on the racket.
Well! I think this guy is a tennis player, so he does a two-hand backhand at tennis and he feels good doing it at table tennis too. Rules do not say anything against it.
nope using two hands in table tennis isn't illegal in the rule book. it talks about the free hand is the hand not touching the paddle, but outside of the serve, it makes no provision saying you can't have both hands on the paddle during play
you may be good at it but using 2 hands at the same time is illegal according to the rules. you are allowed to switch hands but not use both at the same time
@GeneralSpecific3 The free hand is the hand not carrying the racket.(Law 2.5.6) Some players have interpreted this to mean that it is illegal to use both hands to hold the racket. However, there is no provision in the rules that the player must have a free hand at all times, so the use of two hands is perfectly legal, if a little strange! The only exception to this is during the service, where there must be a free hand, since the free hand must be used to hold the ball before serving.
@IchabodCrane888 I teach kids how to play table tennis at a school and I teach the shakehand grip because if they will learn tennis later the grip is similar, but here in Brazil most players use japanese penhold. I think no problem if you feel good at two handed backhand, we can say it is a style, not a wrong technique.
I thought i was the only one playing two handed backhands in table tennis, now i know i'm not the only one......nice shots.I'm surprised you hit the ball like me...

I also use the two hand and i think it provides more control and power unlike the one hand which is either a block or crazy swing

I used a two handed forehand only when I'm trying to power the ball home on table tennis.
