  • sick picture of Guy and Thomas

  • Katy Perry and all these other "pop" artists (crap) can't produce decent songs, so they have to resort to stealing.

  • Many of Daft Punk's songs are best on samples or melodies/chord structures of other songs.

Perry's song has a similar chord structure, yes. It could be intentional, it could be coincidental. Does it really matter? Is it necessary to 'diss' Perry for the sake of boosting your love of Daft Punk?

I doubt Daft Punk would approve of this.

  • Guys, calm down! This just means that the Earl kidnapped her too! Let's just hope she doesn't win any Golden Records.

  • If it was stolen, why didn't Daft Punk demanded her? She obviously asked for permission -_-

  • Oh hey im a kid with an iPod touch and a slight sense of rhythmic intelligence, I think I discovered something ground breaking in the world of 4/4ths drum beats...seriously you can listen to any song and find some that sound identical, and a few that sound similar if you can squint your ears

  • Are you serious? I like Daft Punk more but these are not really similar dude.

  • Katy Perry did not steal her beat from Daft Punk. That is like saying Vanilla Ice stole the beat for "Ice Ice Baby" from Queen's "Under Pressure." No one ever steals ideas in music, movies, or any type of business or art.

  • true

  • Proof that Breakwater song is stolen by Daft Punk - search Breakwater "Release The Beast" to hear what Daft Punk's Robot Rock sounded like 30 years earlier.....

If someone else could provide proof that nobody actually gives a fuck??.....

  • Also, the beginning of U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and Lady Gaga's "Just Dance."

  • Not stolen

  • i didn't know stolen and similar meant the same thing thanks for the clarification

*sarcasm (if thats how you spell it)

  • U can definitely hear it

  • Not saying I like katy pary but The beat is kind of twisted like it's not the exact same thing. Very Similar tho, But then again there are only a few million beats you can make.

  • You're right. How much is the Ipod background. Its awesome!

  • Katy Perry you sexy slut -___- (very sexy slut)

  • @deutschmaster21 What do you mean interesting

  • KATY PERRY GET OUT HERE , I WANT LISTEN DAFT PUNK , NOT YOU -.-

  • Hey man, could you please link me the background image of your iPod? :)

    it's beautiful!

  • hey . kanye west did take harder better faster stronger . and made his into " stronger " and tottaly killed it

  • @johnny15400 Kanye asked and Daft Punk agreed

  • @KamieKeys did not kno that lol

  • @fatmatahir You fucking idiot. What the fuck makes you think that a band like Daft Punk could even exist in the sixties?

  • But you do realize the main track behind Harder Better Faster Stronger is almost a straight sample from Cola Bottle Baby right? Everyone samples everyone, don't have a fucking cow about it man.

  • hard to tell... sounds pretty similar

  • first of all katy perry wasn't even born when the y made this song it was made in the 60's

  • @fatmatahir I...I so hope you're kidding

  • @Beachyboy9966 im not

  • @fatmatahir Maybe you should research Daft Punk before you say that! Both members of Daft Punk were actually born in the 70's so how could make Love possibly have been made then? Some people...

  • the views are slowing down

  • that's not even the same bass . . .

  • Who cares really :)

  • I hate Katy, but she sampled this, she didn't steal it, daft punk sample all the time.

  • as soon as katy perry came on my head exploded from too much shity-ness.

  • Metallica did Sad But True, and Kid Rock did American Bad Ass a few years after, using the same instrumentals as Metallica. It happens all the time, you blowhards.

  • @paddmaddproductions No, no, no. If you copy Daft Punk and make into some shitty pop song, that's fucked.

  • no katy perry stole the song from them

  • She did that cunt

  • I hear plenty of variations from the two songs. Way different mood sets.

  • you do know that daft punk also djs. in other words they combine two songs to make one

  • i dont think daft punk ever even made a song after she made that song. stfu.

  • @2020victorino mainstream twat

  • KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

  • Though i think Daft Punk didnt care i think this is truly a terrible song either way. They stole something great and made something bad xD

  • ITS NOT FRIGGIN SAMPLED U ALL LIE PS I'M GLAD THAT KATY GOT DIVORCED RUSSEL MIGHT HAVE SEEN MY VID

  • If Daft Punk really cared about who had their music I doubt they would have associated with Kanye. There are only so many chords, there is bound to be similarities. Daft Punk has sampled a lot of music without disclosing it not that they are hiding it nor is there anything wrong with it. I am not a Katy Perry fan by any means and I have been listening to Daft Punk for years. People need to get off their high horses and just enjoy the music. Don't like it? Don't approve? Don't listen.

  • fuck katy perry cant roll at clubs to it i hope that stranger kills your bitch ass

  • Would make a great mix transition

  • Axis of Awesome- Four chord song. If you have a problem with this you'll have more after listening to their song.

  • Make Love is from one of Daft Punks first couple albums, I'm not sure which. Which was made in the late 1990's or very early 2000, again not sure, but I'm pretty sure it's in or around that time range.

Katy Perry wasn't even known 'til about 4 maybe 5 years ago. When she kissed a girl.

Go suck on some coffee-soaked candy corn, you fart head

  • chord progressions are recycled everyday. get over it

  • the same box with another number

katy parry its a singer because her voice is edited. Nothing more to add.

  • congrats you discovered four-on the floor beats and how amazingly enough almost all of them are alike its like saying if any trance songs keep the bass drum at oh say 180 bpm they are all copies of one another and other beats like the one used here are probably the most common ones ever seen to man

  • By the way Daft punk is way better than katy perry so stfu katy perry would wish for daft punk to even play her songs

  • Sorry, not even close. Katy did her own thing. Daft Punk did too.

  • its close, similar but not quite the same beat, if anything slightly sped up. so i see what you're getting at as i too am a passionate fan of Daft Punk, but of decades and decades of thousands of artists, its so difficult to come up with a completely original thing out of the blue, so other artists will have similar beats. Idk i not gonna take sides and get spammed with replies so its whatever you really hear. I prefer daft punk over katy any day on my own note

  • THANK YOU ALL

  • um. fuck off faggot. daft punk is waaay fucking awesomer than stupid little katy perry.

they wrote that BEFORE Katy Perry performed that song for the motherfucking first time.

  • @ainso4321 lol you fail... trololol or just dumb?

  • @ainso4321 His saying katy perry STOLE daft punk's song. But that is not right just read the top comments.

  • oh wow does this ever occur to u tht maybe it was a coincidences

  • daft punk are way above many artist, it's normal that a lot will copy but they know it really doesn't matters

  • MAKE LOVE WAS MADE WAY BEFORE LAST FRIDAY NIGHT!!!

  • @TheAbstractAnt Any true die hard fan would know that.

  • I saw this. And I made a mix of an a capella track over this song. The results were interesting.

  • these are the SAME exact chords...

  • i actually noticed this...

  • one UR TROLLING trollin troll troll yo trollin im boxy u c(GOTTA LOVE BOXY)

    two mabey cowicidence

three mabey daft punk gave her permission hmmmmm

four mabey she actully MADE that base line but a concidence

five like mrdeebeez said If anybody knows anything about Daft Punk they should know that they don't care about being copied or "stolen". All they care about is making great music. If they wanted fame they would have took their helmets off long time ago but the just love making great music

  • Jesus, you act liek this doesn't happen all the time. This is life and happens, what do you think programmers, they copy and paste other peoples code, same idea.

  • well spotted.

  • All this video tells me is that katy perry has to die and daft punk will always be better than party rock...

  • Artists take each others beats and change them up a little but all the time...chill haha

  • dude fuck you daft punks music has always been original and tasteful

  • its called sampling, stupid.

  • @DubstepZiFFY Hahaha TROLL!!!!!!! hahah

  • A lot of beats are the same in music. Obviously, you''re a newbie in electro music.Btw, Last Friday Night came out like this year, and Make Love came out around 2008.

  • Umm..... 'Make love' came first..... and almost all songs use that beat. Second Try?

  • The circle of fiths eventually comes round upon itself and always will. Thats pretty much what popular music is.

  • blahhhhhhhhhh to u katy!

  • its called they used some of the bassline and edited it to make a new song...almost every artist does it daft punk did it as well

  • dude get a life!

  • If you know anything about daft punk, despite how awesome and godly they are, a lot of there songs stole parts from other songs... so yeah

  • If you're right.. if you're wrong.. you are neither and both. This entire effort is pointless and makes me loathe being human and living exactly in the age that is now. How can you just not listen to either song and not worry who stole what or for what reason, or if anything was even stolen. You could just appreciate one or the other and push play, what difference does it make. Copyright laws are a joke, no one deserves anything let alone deserves money they "earned" for making a bass line

  • lol its not stolen... its only half stolen

  • mhm.. they stole from Panic! at the disco! when they made derezzed... so?

  • DONT SCROOL DOWN ITS JUST TROLLONG

  • its a very common beat... i dont see why your bitching

  • uhm....Daft Punk has been around waaaaaay before Katy Perry...and their song "make love" came out YEARS before Katy started her career -.-

  • where did you get your background for the iPod? i really like it :)

  • i want to listen to human after all now, that is an amazing album. i think it's the "revolver" of electronic music

  • Comment removed

  • Who gives a ruck she's dead anyways...

  • In all fairness, If anybody knows anything about Daft Punk they should know that they don't care about being copied or "stolen". All they care about is making great music. If they wanted fame they would have took their helmets off long time ago but the just love making great music. They are inspirational and admirable, & that's what happens when people are inspired. Call me a troll if you want... I could care less. I'm a troll who will be bumping Daft Punk while he types on your comments X)p

  • @MrDeeBleez And Dats WHy Daft Punk is LOVE!

  • @MrDeeBleez Uhmmmmm No, Daft Punk is not about not caring who copys their music, and all they care is not makeing good music. They care about Money, and No the reason they keep their hats on in public is for publicity and MONEY. Your an idiot if you think they care about pleasing you and i.

  • @MrDeeBleez Taken off their helmets a long time ago?? They started off without helmets haha. Helmets are a more recent thing. Nevertheless still a good argument

  • @fizzzzaa1 Before they had helmets they had masks.

  • @FireTacoProductions @DNACoder1

Before they had masks they had nothing. If you had read my comment properly i said they "started off without helmets".

  • @fizzzzaa1 Lol fail

  • @MrDeeBleez god bless you buddy!!!

  • dude... your retarded

  • what's trolling?--- i mean...what do you consider to be the act of trolling??

  • are you kiding? its just the beat, its like looking at all the drum beats to all the rock songs in the world and expecting them all to be completley unique.... yer... not gonna happen

  • what youre alluding to is that its the same bassline. if we were gonna judge all music like that, then half of all jazz standards would be stolen from each other. in terms of chords, theres only so many chord progressions that can be used, and the fact is that some sound better than others so its inevitable that these things will occur.

  • I still find it funny that people still think that these pop singers write & make their own music. Who wants to sign up for an $80 ticket and watch these fools jump around on stage lip singing to someone else's work?

  • so many artists have ripped off so many songs from Daft Punk its not even funny, but they have a good enough heart to just let it slide like they do.

    -Majesty

  • woulkd have to side with Vertexavenger ! .....stop trolling and get over it !

  • Who cares, if daft punk gave a shit dont you think they would have sued?

  • I think we can all agree that Katy Perry sucks Donkey Anus.

  • just pointing this out for all of you wah wah wah they stole daft punks beats.. THEY SELL THEM TO NEW MUSICIANS, aka "stronger" by kanye.. they collabed with him..not stole it.. as well as with katy perry..they sell their beats... god damn, not to mention. if someone somewhere has thought of a beat. so have 10 other people somewhere else in the world at the same god damn time..lemme guess you think your tattoo's are original and noone else has one either?! GOD DAMN! /wrists kk?

  • Oh my Gosh O . O This video is bothering me so bad because Katy's song does sound like Daft Punk's D: But i love them both so oh well.... *puts headphones back on* :DD

  • No sampling...same key though

  • i thought the daft punk version came before kat perrys also katy perry sux and is only for loser chicks

  • You do realize that the song you are talking about is actually a sample right? Daft punk's stuff is almost all samples. Have you considered that katy perry's producer used the same samples as them?

  • @BIGGrobb you raise an excellent point. There are only so many sample packs in the world. What's important is how you use them, not how much they sound like some other song. Producers also prefer to use methods that cost the least money possible, and frankly, honestly, a sample pack is WAY cheaper than a real musician. Also, the drum machine doesn't skip practise to get drunk and laid lol.

  • @VertexAvenger I had a drummer that skipped practice to get drunk all the time. That's why I enjoy producing, the only person I have to rely on really is me. Also, sample packs aren't the only way forward. I always carry about a dictaphone to record ideas, plus youtube is waaaay cheaper for samples. Even Skrillex has sampled videos from here.

  • @BIGGrobb also, do a google search for the documentary "everything is a re-mix" it's on another video site, but it's a real eye opener!

  • I love the first part of the video, ...where's my editor?

  • Ok, both songs are on the same key and the both sound very similar. But i think it was just a coincidence that Katy Perry made a similar sounding song. The producers of TGIF weren't intentionally copying Daft Punk and they didn't sample Daft Punk's song either. End of story.

  • ...then "forget" and when musicians go and creat some "new" beat there bound to somehow remeber one part of another song they heard and put it into a beat and say hey I made this song! it happens all the time and really it only sounds like 5 seconds to a minute of the same beat if that. just opinion not trying to sound mean

  • Ok coming from Someone who Loves Daft Punk and likes this one Katy Perry song I will say it does sound a little the same beat wise but it is not completly the same also it's not that big of a deal if Katty uses three seconds to a minutes of bass beat in her song and but if she stole the hole song from Daft Punk and put her own lyrics to it and said it was her own THEN she would have a problem but like all music there is always at least some sampling the human brain stores things we hear and...

  • They really dont sound alike at all to me at all ps u know that just cause its the same beat does not mean it was stolen

  • they sound completly differently to me lol

  • It is not bad, but I think Katy Perry has good taste for being anything like Daft Punk. YOU THINK DP CARES? NO!

  • stole*

  • XD daft punk has been around longer than Katy Perry, so if anything she stool from them.

  • Wait a minute, wait a minute, I have an idea . . . let's all argue about it, too.

  • this is nothing like under pressure. How is one expected to sue when this sounds nothing like a Queen Bowie song

  • @VertexAvenger

i agree with you but last friday night is definately not a good song so i am in favor of calling it a rip off.

  • Does no one understand that the Daft punk song is alot older??? Seriously haha, its the other way around. Check the dates.

  • Maybe Katy Perry used Daft Punk's beat, and maybe she didn't. Many songs sound the same. Many artists do that nowadays. It's not really a big deal. :)

  • Comment removed

  • /watch?v=MJPdVVOmbz4 < Guys, watch this and you will understand......

  • 90% of electronic artists sample.....

  • HELL Yea Techy!!!! Uhg That Bitch Katy!!!!

  • you guys don't see the point. How would you like it if you made a sick ass song on garage band then it leaked and some dude copied it put some lyrics in and made thousands. wouldent that piss you off just a tad bit???? whos with me??

  • @Techy1996 I dont think you see the point very well. watch?v=MJPdVVOmbz4 < Watch this and you will see..

  • OMG OMG!! SOMEBODY CALL THE COPS THERES A SIMILAR BEAT GOING DOWN HERE OMG!!!!!!! DONT TOUCH IT!!! IT MIGHT EXPLODE!!!!!!!

  • Its called sampling genius

  • whoa, never wouldve thought a damn song would be like someone elses...im sure nobody gives a fuck about what stole what. its music you should be breathing it and put a video together with Daft Punk and Katy Perry together...i feel bad for Daft Punk..get real bro

  • Holy shit 69,699th viewer.

  • Your fucking retarded

  • Or she could have a song that uses a similar beat. OR she could have asked to use the beat from them. Think before posting on the tubes duder.

  • Comment removed

  • erm... they are KIND OF the same. and that beat is incredibly common. listen to a little more dance and electronic house. Broski, thats about every other song.

  • lol 69,699 views XD

  • I don't understand.

They don't sound relatively the same what so ever. Shut the fuck up and listen to your damn music.

  • HOLY FUCKIN SHIT CALL 911 NOW!!!! DAFT PUNK SONG SONG STOLE BY KATY PERRY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude who cares if they stole it that's what dj's do they take songs and make it better and put some beats into it.

  • hey even if it was ripped, Katy Perry made it sound good. It's kinda what dj's do as well. I actually like both

  • seems like its ok for a pop musician especially if popular to rip something off of a techno group/person, but not vice versa.

  • hmm whered you get taht wallpaper

  • dude....that's like saying Papercut by Linkin Park was ripped off by Skillet in the song Hero in the beginning of the song...

    _._

  • THAT IS NOT COOL. SHE SHOULD GET SUED

  • Who gives a shit if she did or didn't sample from Daft Punk. This is not an issue you should concern yourself with. It's music. There only so many ways to put together major chords (which is all that is here) before something sounds similar, which is all this is. It's not an exact duplicate it only sounds similar.

  • thats just the burden of being an elctro musician. if u have cool shit its bound to be sampled eventually

  • make love was from electroma, wasn't it? that was made in 2006...

  • @KEN117MC LOL

  • A lot of Daft Punk's music is samples from other musicians too. A copy of a copy? I wouldn't worry about it too much.

  • @SillyEddyPhotography I concur

  • I'm not trolling but those are like the 4 main chords of any song. Pop, rock, rap, country, techno just the main chords

  • Not to be a troll, but so what? Famous musicians and their producers rip stuff all the time, it's not like that's going to change just because some people on youtube say so. Also, I really agree with kgmaistropitcher22. It's not like there's an unlimited combination of musical sounds out there. People have been making music for a long time so we're bound to have instances like this. I say just get over it and enjoy the music guys. That's what it's here for. If it sounds good, shut up and listen.

  • @VertexAvenger you're really disrespectful. this video was just proving a point nonetheless and you didn't have to jump out there and yell out what you think. that was ridiculous and very rude.

  • @snowpatrolXX Isn't the point of comments to tell people what you think? Just because I'm not sugar coating my message doesn't mean I don't have a point. I have no intention of being disrespectful or rude to the poster of the video, I just find it silly that things like this are such a huge deal with everyone. There's nothing you can do about it, so there's no point in complaining.

  • @VertexAvenger ya, and their are worse instances of stealing music.... as much as i like cold play their song viva la vida is a blatant rip off of a joe satriani song (if i could fly)

  • @VertexAvenger

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP TROLLING

  • @CaveofTwoLovers I think somebody needs a little nap? I don't remember yelling at anyone, I was just making a point. The same goes to the other guy you recycled this post for, and he was being even nicer than me, so your volatility here is unwarranted. People would probably appreciate input like that more if you weren't so brief and vulgar about it. In fact, I'd be more inclined to listen to you if you were a little more civil about all this.

  • @VertexAvenger

FUCK OFF UNTIL YOU LEARN HOW TO TROLL BETTER.

  • @CaveofTwoLovers You incompetent douchebag. I'm not trying to troll anybody but you're acting like a real brat so I have no shame in calling you that. You obviously have nothing intelligent to say to me, so I will no longer acknowledge you.
