  • Such a good guy. Somebody all NBA players should aspire to and is lacked too much today

  • Stockton the best of all time a complete team player.

  • i really wish stockton and malone would get a ring. Too bad jordan was too good.

  • damnit stockton, ur too nice, stop thanking ppl xD

so much respect for him, he wasnt the best player in his team, but he definitely was the best player to play his position, imo. and that in itself is much greater.

  • So because of a speech a man is perfect, classy? AH. Look into Stockton and Malone 's lives, a lot of dirt, especially Malone. Speech= classy? ha. Nobody is perfect, period.

  • @malkoLinge2080 what kind of dirt on stockton? I know about malone but I think stockton is a pretty low key guy...

  • Loved Stockton and Malone both. Humble, honorable, talented, down to earth. Every player has an ego but this guy dishes out assists even in a speech.

  • It's amazing that while he thanked just about everyone, we were the ones who should've been thanking him.

  • 6:23 Johns dad does one of the proudest fist pumps. "Thats my boy!"

  • Stockton proves his place in the HoF. Stockton is what a true role model should be like for kids to look up to. MJ: great player, perhaps GOAT, but a role model on AND off the court? Nope, sorry he is NOT. And I don't mean to undermine all the good deeds done by MJ like different charities and things of that nature. But Stockton is just a good old family man who doesn't need big charity events to provide examples on how to be a great player/person.

  • Heck no Malone is not the greatest pf ever-other than that obligatory shout out, great speech.

  • I miss this man and his short shorts. John Stockton is more than just a hall of famer basketball player, he is a hall of famer in life. We will always remember you John!

  • 6 kids > 6 rings

  • John naming his kids was touching.

  • Jerry Sloan trying to hold back tears at 1:15. mmm... How rare it is to see a relationship like this in the NBA, where money talks. But if you know the story of Sloan and Stockton, you shouldn't be surprised. When Stockton was drafted by Sloan and the Jazz, he was booed by Jazz fans as the 16th pick. But Sloan believed in him to work his ass off to get better. He had a hunch, you could say. By age 25, Stockton finally had a starting position on the Jazz and went on to dish out 15000 assists

  • Great man and player. The definition of success in life

  • Damn... MJ has 6 rings... but John Stockton got 6 kids! hehe

  • because a guy who uses 30 exclamation marks to end one sentance is worth argueing with.

    Don't feed the troll

  • Good speech, I like that he even thanked his doctor's in Washington. Wife looks kind of young for John, I thought it was his daughter or something.

  • @SuperBlaze46 Nope. You're the one who's pathetic coz you're a fucking retarded homo freak. :D

  • @FlipSide693 hahahahahaha fuck you, you pussy shit ass of a shit fuck!!! your the one who is retarded. what proof do you have that I had anything related to homosexuality that i said or anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/????? your a fucking dumbass. your retarded. thats all you can say to me???? hahaha your pathetic and god knows it.go suck an egg gayass

  • @SuperBlaze46 Whatever freaky gayass retard. Obviously you know nothing about John Stockton. If i were you i'll stop sucking dicks and start watching the replay basketball games of John Stockton and the Utah Jazz from now on. :D

  • @FlipSide693 your the gayass retard.

  • @SuperBlaze46 Sorry to break this to you dickwad but you are a gayass motherfucker. Go educate yourself about the NBA first before making such idiotic comments. Everyone here in YouTube thinks you're a dumb gayass motherfucker. :D

  • @SuperBlaze46 Zamboni.

  • @SuperBlaze46 dude, he has the most total assists in nba history, led his team to the finals, and now hes in the hall of fame. i dont think a fucking pussy piece of shit with no intelligence would do all that

  • 6 children? lol we know what he was doing when he wasn't ballin....still one of the best PG

  • @GuyanezeComedy Correction. He was ballin' just not in the court :P.

  • hopefully one of his 4 boys can play for the jazz :)

  • he was the reason why i played basketball and forever be my idol best point guard of all time non cant touch him

  • Girls mess up your game lol...

  • quietly he is the most classy CHAMPION of his era.

  • ur my idol!!!!nobody does it better,nobody..ur the best point guard there ever was, john stockton!!!!!

  • Notice he didn't say "aks" even one time.

  • pure class unlike mj's spiteful venom

  • @californicator It's not spiteful venom man, it's called trash talking. And the people he trash talked to during his speech, they know him and he knows them. And trash talking is a tradition between them, so for them, it's normal. For you it might not be, but for them it is. See it through their eyes and not yours. Trash talking is a basketball tradition for decades, and when you do it, you still respect the other. That's a reality that many people today can't understand, and I don't blame ya.

  • @californicator how could yhu make a "classless" comment like that........i mean come on these are people that played in the league together for like over 13 years......they were sort of like family so to speak.......and they aint talkin to each other inna way that i wouldnt talk to my brothers

  • Clearly players from the 90's have class... Some of them have no "rings" but they act like true champions... SALUTE!!!

  • such an inspiration for the white small guys

  • this cat is pure class... wish he didn't rush through the speech... never thought he was this funny...

  • just pure class

  • can anyone tell me what he says at 3:37 about his wife before they show her laughing?

  • @Buzzer1813 I don't know that I want her standing behind me. My peripheral vision isn't that good and she has great aim!

  • @yendor42 ah ok, thanks!

  • incredibly humble for the greatest pure point guard of all time .

  • ok stockton was one of my fav players but if any of you people actually watched basketball in the 90s you'd know he was one of the dirtiest players in nba history haha. hes like the definition of "moving screen" and he always loved to throw a hard elbow but thats what i loved about him haha

  • Jordan was good for the Game of Basketball. John Stockton was good for the World.

  • Can't blame NBA's greats during the 90s for not having a championship, because that was when Jordan was playing.

  • @JACONROFL Jordan also played in the 80's and people won

  • I have a sense, somewhat strange... Jordan's speech sounded a bit sad comparing to this. Michael spoke of his rivals, of his achievements... but Stockton had his mouth full of people who love him, his wonderful family, etc.

  • classy individual...gorgeous family, stockton's got it all! except a NBA championship of course

  • So much better than Michael Jordan's speach. MJ was an ass hole

  • @gtsudu i disagree. all speeches are good in their own right, gotta appreciate their differences, thats what makes them great!

  • Dam John 6 kids lol

  • successful NBA career. Beautiful family. What more could I guy want.

  • the most underrated player to EVER play the game of basketball if you ask me. played for 19 years (1 less than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar & 2nd most all time)

  • the most unselfish player to play the game...

  • Pure class

  • Karl Malone couldn't make this induction? Bullshit..

  • @smoothsmoothie2 Him and stockton were one in a million

  • malone is full of shit...tried to goldig his way to a championship via lakers and spurs lol

  • @stokelycarm stfu asshole. he spent his whole career fighting for a championship against the best. you have no right to say that.

  • @stokelycarm Lots of NBA players have done this late in their career

  • Malone's stepfather was on life support, which prevented him from showing up at the speech. He flew in for the Saturday night HOF dinner, though,

  • stockton represent's a kind of classic point guard not flashy and fancy but pure intellegent playing!!! RESPECT!!!

  • stockton's the man

  • True true class. Wow! Jordan's speech fails by comparison.

  • If there ever was a NBA player to look up to. David Robinson and John Stockton would be right on top.

  • @greatland2 very true

  • @greatland2 don't forget MJ!!

  • @greatland2 I would have to agree. Grace, intelligence, intellect, pure greatness. Today, I would single out Steve Nash as one example. Not many more though.

  • the best white pointguard ever

  • what a great guy! i'm a true rockets fan, but I still have a whole bunch of respect for John!

  • great speech, very humble man.

  • Such an amazing and humble person.

  • This man, gentlemen, represents the kind of basketball you will never see again.

  • Oh man ! 70's and 80's style played at it's best through 90's . This kind of basketball , PURE basketball , was gone with Stockton .

No bullshit , no 'beautiful-highlights' ... only PURE basketball played at it's best .

    I miss Stockton's game so much . Respect .

  • @jsjw2 Here here!

  • @jsjw2 am i the only one that thinks this might be racist or something then here then here ground wwater ground wwater

  • @radiolaugh I don't mean to advocate for him; however, I think what he means is that the game of basketball is going through much change, that is, the personality and physicality of the game, now. Back then, to be a basketball player it was much more than to just be the biggest baddest player. In short, one had to have a certain kind of discipline and integrity before even stepping on the court. Now, a single trait could get you your ticket to the Nba. I could be wrong.

  • @Pillage4Pleasure i get what you mean but to be honest people say shit like that all the time....todays players arent as good as before....the leauge is weaker.....todays plaeyrs cant shoot.....todays players dont play the ball the right way...i mean maybe to some extent that is true....but players were good back then...and players are good now then well ground

  • @radiolaugh I agree with you, it could be seen as a somewhat prejudice comment, maybe a tinge of ignorance even but I say don't take it too heart. Anyhow he could have been drunk or something not that I am saying that he was when he made that comment but something could have distorted him to say so. I wouldn't consider it a bad thing to say entirely although it kinda mean that the basketball stars can't level up in terms of class.

  • @jsjw2 jhon stockton reminds me of steve nash

  • @ADSONIC27 u mean nash reminds u of stockton

  • @bdam808

Only if he ever saw Stockton play.

  • @jsjw2

    aint that the truth

  • @jsjw2 Hopefully you are wrong :)

  • @jsjw2 That's because he's not a basketball. He's a human.

  • I guess your wife is hotter when your a HOF baller...

  • i think jordan's speech offered something that we've never really seen as fans-- his thoughts, his motivation, and to a certain extent, his ego... he had a big ego, but he backed it up and did big things... ego can hurt a person or help a person b/c it is a balance of pride and insecurity, and everyone has it, but not everyone can channel ego the way a jordan does, the way a kobe does, they turn the ego into a swagger and confidence that i think a lot of people will never accept or appreciate.

  • @mrcioffi33 judging by Jordan and Kobe's actions and words though I believe that they have allowed theirs to go too far. I can fully understand as an athlete myself that swagger that you get when you are the best around, but you need to keep it in check imo. Stockton could have been arrogant and a show off like Rondo is now (and even more so because he's the top 3 best PG ever!), but he was humble and kept it as self-confidence and not arrogance. That's the true way to carry yourself.

  • Hey daravuong, thank you for this. Great stuff. Stockton keeps amazing us, even off court, with his class and unselfishness. GO STOCK!

  • I think people are mad about Michael Jordan's speech because it was very self-centered. Notice how Stockton rarely talked about himself during this speech, but talked about all the people who supported and helped him, and thanked them all.

  • legend.

  • It's really neat to see their families

  • Wow, what a classy guy! He's gotta be the most unselfish player that ever played.

  • maximusprime i couldnt agree more man..... the only player i could think of who is a hall famer like stockton who didnt win a ring is Ewing

  • When was this speech?

  • Superior person and player. His attributes were is unusually huge hands and feet which gave him the control and allowed to him to play bigger than he was.

  • Maybe the toughest guy ever in the NBA (and hes small n scronny). Also extremely clutch and great shooter. Stockton is the best Tru PG in the history of the NBA.

  • it's a shame he never got a ring..i can't think of anyone who deserved it more. Classy guy. Unlike Mike. Nearing 50 and still a pompous ass..

  • Jordan should've hired a speech writer to deal with his super hubris or looked at what Robinson and Stockon was going to say that night.

  • A classy guy. I have always loved Stockton. Great player and one of the toughest players ever in the NBA. Jordans speech was classless. He needs to not be so arrogant.

  • Stockton looks like he could put on the short shorts and have no problem playing 20 minutes a night

  • This guys kids are going to flourish in anything that they do in life, you can see that John holds no bar for them to measure to himself. Bravo John! What a great father as well as ambassador to the game your are. You and the Admiral are what the game will be missing for years to come. Thank you for the memories.

  • Such a classy man. Totally unselfish in his speech as he was on the court.

  • He`s gonna be a GREAT coach in the NBA since he was so smart on the court. He`s is in the top 10 players of all time. Just look at his numbers.

  • Hated Stockton as a player, but can't help but respect him as a person.

  • Great Speech, and why are people hating on Jordan - time and time again throughout his life people have doubted him, on the high school level, college, and multiple times in the NBA and yet he's the only guy time and time again to prove people wrong by a long shot, and he resents it and relishes in showing his competition up, which he has a right to do, his critics put him in that position.

  • very, very heartfelt. thanks for the speech, john! =)

  • What a speech man.. this was the best speech of the night, just pure class. I just wish David Robinson would have mentioned pop, his speech was way up there too. Jordan.. what can i say about him.. he should let things go.

  • Only one word - outstanding.

  • @drdglover lol. sore?

  • 6 kids? wow.. is he mormon?

i thought the speech was nice, but michael's was motivating for me..

  • xgotarox Fuck you this is a John stockton speech not no goddamn Michael Jordan speech gtfo

  • John was one of the best PGs in the league faggot.

  • lol.. just because he has 6 kids doesn't make him the best parent guardian, carnie.

  • do you even know what PG means it means Point Guard kid;

  • i think you need a reading lesson to because i don't even have an R in my name.

  • *too

  • awesome. such a great guy!

    michael who?

  • Class. 15,806 assists accounts for, at the very least, 31,612 points, on top of his own 19,711 points.

  • Two words...Pure Class.

  • Who is John Stockton and where is Spokane?

  • Although Jordan is the best basketball player ever,in this event, Stockton simply outclassed him.

  • It's too bad he never got a ring, he deserved it. But a gold medal isn't too bad either :)

  • Actually, 2 gold medals, haha

  • John played the position the way it was supposed to be played, and likely the way it will never be played again in this ME ME ME NBA. He could have made more money, guaranteed himself a ring just by switching teams because EVERYONE knew the Jazz was just Stockton/Malone and if you could weather them, the rest of the guys on the floor couldn't beat you. When you watched him in an All-Star game or the Olympics you saw just how great he was with quality talent around him. Class act indeed

  • What a graceful speech. God bless U.

  • By far the classiest guy to ever play the game. Doesn't hurt that he also holds the two career records most dear to his position.

  • as if his stats didn't say enough. then he goes and shows what a great person he is outside of basketball. all time best pg.

  • THIS was such a nice acceptance speech:)

  • John Stockton, what a class act! Amazing!

  • What a class act! And, he's still doing his thing - making everyone else around him (feel and seem) important and better, just like he did on the court.

As great as Karl Malone was, I'd venture to see that Stockton was their best player.

  • gotta love this classy guy! Great speech!

  • 1. John Stockton 15,806 2. Mark Jackson 10,334 3. Jason Kidd 10,199 4. Magic Johnson 10,141

Jeez, only 5,000 more assists than anybody else that played in the NBA. Not bad!

  • And hes only a few points short of 20,000 he looks like he can still play so he should come back!

No one will ever have 15,000 assist. Maybe if Jason Kid plays 5 more years.

  • Most assists, career: 15,806 - John Stockton, Utah

Most steals, career: 3,128 - John Stockton, Utah

  • he is the perfect point guard.

  • best white guy at his position (point guard)

stock was never my favorite player, but I've always respected the great player he's been always

    nice HOF speech!

  • There was a guy named Larry Bird (small forward)

  • Stockton was big part of life as a kid. He play the game the right way. Never flashly but always the right way i still miss him on the court today.

  • Does anyone else find it ironic that he named one of his sons Houston?

  • houston is john stockton's middle name...so thats prolly why he named one of his kid's houston.

  • I don't know why everyones crying about Jordan's speech, dude was being sarcastic and teasing about Byron. People should realize the guy was just trying to make the crowd laugh. If any of you guys can relate, you'd know he wasn't trying to attack him or being a "dick"

  • People say Michael Jordan was the best, but what determines the best is whether that person makes those around him better than they really are. Bryon Russell, Greg Ostertag, Tyrone Corbin, Blue Edwards, Greg Foster, etc... all of these guys were average at best. But, Stockton made them better because he was so good. Then when those players left the team, they weren't even half as productive as they were with Stockton. That to me makes Stockton a better player than Michael Jordan.

  • Come on man that is hilarious. I am big Stockton fan but this is just to much.

  • Now THAT'S how you make a speech, Michael. We all know you were the best Mike, my fave athlete ever, but you don't have to be a dick about it.

Stockton, all-time leader and assists and steals. Unbelievable! Good guy.

  • Michael was an arrogance prideful ass from beginning to end. Stockton, Robinson, and Sloan gave excellent speeches. I always knew Jordan was a dick, but I would have thought by age 46 he would have grown out of being a dick. Guess not.

  • That dude has 5000 more assists than the next guy, which happens to be Magic Johnson.

  • Stockton's greatest assist. Next year when he presents Malone.

  • vision*

  • 'i don't have good peripheral visions' says one of the greatest passers of all time...

  • She gave birth 6 times?! still looks pretty damn hot :)

  • **clap clap clap**

best PG ever....very classy.....unlike most other male hormone overdoesed athletes

  • one of the greatest. Now that's a speech!

  • john truly deserves this one.. plus i love his humility and sense of humor..

And he reminds me of Forest Gump! lol..

    gotta love john stockton!...

  • Thanks so much for getting this on video. Channel 2 in Salt Lake was planning to show a special last night that I set to record and the tennis match superceded it, I called them and they said they would not rerun it although it NEVER ran! I'll never ever watch that station again!

  • Wow. What a class act. Congratulations John!

  • john is one of the greatest player of all time, he never take us down !!!! even in that time 1997 and 1998 finals
