Frank Oz was a very gifted Muppeteer as Grover, Bert, and Cookie Monster on Sesame Street. He was Jim Henson's right arm! May Muppet King Jim Henson always rest in peace in heaven!
A true classic. Watching these old clips is great, brings back alot of memories and makes you realize how the show has gone downhill since then. Old school Sesame Street will always be the best
Grover was a heavy smoker back then...in his waiter days, so happy he has recovered. I am now 35 years old and he has convinced me to quit (I sneeak one in occassionally) You can learn everything from Grover!!!!
I remember this video clearly. I must have been 5. I wanted swing doors like that ever since..who says TV doesn't effect our little pea brains...as smart as we like to think we are.
OKAY Grover..I'll quit smoking...yes blue master...
I once had this song on a record. Grover says at the beginning, "You know what goes around? This record goes around!" Then he keeps telling you to look at the record when he sing about "around."
Oh,are you talking about the sketch where Grover demonstrates Near and Far to the audience but they don't understand at all so Grover has to continually demonstrate near and far till eventually he faints?
I know there was a sketch where Grover demonstrated "near" and "far" on ice skates. Eventually he skates right out of the picture, there's a splash, and we hear Kermit saying, "Grover, get out of the water!"
I do remember the "green grover" of the first season doing Near and Far. He'd do Near, and then "when I go way back, way back here like this!" he'd yell about Far. Needless to say he had to do this several times, growing increasing exhausted/exaspered. "Green Grover" showed up in several skits, coming off as an "older brother type" to blue Grover, as his voice was deeper.
Yes, Grover always wore himself out...but only to make sure that we all understood the concepts fully. Besides, that's what makes you love him all the more!
i dont think anyone understands grover. huh. they do have a bit on near and far in this video. lol. grover does have a lot of gravity.

If you've ever watched that new abomination Baby Bear you'll at agree that Elmo is not the worst thing that ever aired.

1. This clip can be seen in scene in Incredible Hulk as a guy watches TV in Brazil.
2. So nice Brazil allows Sesame Street. Now all countries do.

Of course, the record version is much different; Watch the record go around, jump over the hobby horse, go under the bed, and go through the door.

I always felt sorry for Grover running himself ragged whenever this song appeared on TV.
