  • Where can i find the words the backing vocalists chant? They're great!

  • this music is so cool (depending on the song).

  • Sweet lord Jesus, this is so beautiful!

  • This is one of the most importante music in this side of the world. God bless Irland. From Portugal, Pedro Nunes

  • The greatest song ever :))) Thanks for this great voice!!!

  • makes me damn proud to be Irish....

  • I love this song but can someone clarify on what this song is about. Thanks:^)

  • @fluteplaya22593 It's an Irish folk song about a young person looking forward to their wedding day. I believe I've heard this song called "Our Wedding Day".

  • @TripBoomLikeThat Doesn't the bride or groom in this case die? I went online and here's lyrics that werent used. "The people were saying no two were e´er wed,

But one has a sorrow that never was said,

And I smiled as she passed with her goods and her gear,

And that was the last that I saw of my dear. "

  • @fluteplaya22593 Yes, I just looked the song up in Wikipedia, and they said many verses are often omitted. They showed lyrics for one version that made it clear that one of the characters was dead. Folk songs usually have many variations.

  • @TripBoomLikeThat why are they omitted? But this is a very beautiful song... this was in the original "Lord of the Dance" thats how i know this song

  • @fluteplaya22593 That's a good question - changing the lyrics certainly alters the powerful and poignant song's meaning. Celtic Woman's arranger, David Downes, always likes to keep their songs uplifting and positive, and I guess a live lover is more positive than a dead one! But I have no idea why so many singers change the lyrics.

  • @TripBoomLikeThat I agree that the songs should be uplifting... but cant they have that one song that makes them feel emotion?

  • Oh god, this is so beautiful...

I remember singing this in choir in middle school, this brings back memories.

Of course, we didn't sound quite this nice. xD

  • The clarity and purity of their voices is just one part of the magic of this incredible music. No ridiculous dancers, costumes, effects or overpowering (and forced) vibrato.

  • @Gizmologist09 I agree, especially about forced vibrato. I prefer a purer tone in music, and hold myself to the same standard. Although I don't mind (too much) if the style requires it.

  • Beautiful and haunting.

  • My brother listened to this then looked at the lyrics and said:she's lesbian?

then I made him go upstairs and I pushed him down the stairs!

  • @cbrme97

Give Him a push for me

What has sexuality got to do with music

I was also told that Angels are unique

    Which these Angels are

So maybe he is a bit young and does not know the difference

Of being a human and being unique

  • @pedro1095 Well he's seventeen but has the emotional range of a teaspoon.

  • @cbrme97 Well I am 60 so maybe I appreciate this music better than some people

it sure is nice to listen to

    AND

It does not do my head in

Just leaves me Dreaming of happy times

Also of the fact I may one day be lucky enough to be with the Angels

    Listening to their voices

Thanks for listing thes songs who ever lists them

  • @cbrme97

Funny, but give him a break, some people don't appreciate great music when they hear it.

  • @cbrme97 heehee, harry potter quote.... :)

  • @egirleagle :)

  • Another talent? Walking in that dress!

  • Everything about this production was beyond marvelous!

  • I love the song and the ensemble, but I prefer Loreena McKennitt's version.

Actually, now that I think about it, Loreena's version is more mystifying, this version is mystical. They are very different interpretations, but I like Loreena McKennitt's version more.

  • I love this song so much!

  • a little more diction would be better.... but that high and that diction makes it complicated.... beautifully done maev!

  • one of the best Irish folk songs ever!

  • i love this song, i especially love the beginning. overall, a beautiful song. i think their music is simply breathtaking. i love celtic music, but Celtic Woman are my favorite singing group. my second favorites are Celtic Ladies. i love their Christmas cd. well, just wanted to say i love this song and this music. i'll always be your fan Celtic Woman, keep up the amazing work!

  • Sounds like something from the Lion King.

  • I absolutely LOVE how it all comes together at 2:34! Meav is beauty in every sense of the word.

  • i dont know about everyone else but i could listen to these women all day!

  • ps. does anyone else think she looks like a mermaid in this dress?

  • @kmollie27 YES! XD I thought that too. I was like.. man I'm weird. But now there's somebody just as weird as me. LOL. ^_^

  • @kmollie27 It's a mermaid dress ;D

  • I think Méav is my favorite of the Celtic Woman. <3her

  • I wanna listen to this with a very special person in my life,...

  • Happy St. Patrick's Day, Ireland lovers ;)

  • @LuthienofOssiriand I am not irish, but happy st. patricks day to you too!

  • Orla's rendition is very beautiful and enchanting. But Meav's is good as well.

  • I prefer the Hayley Westenra version. It's slower and a lot more emotional. And Hayley Westenra doesn't usually express much emotion in her music. I'm not saying she's not awesome though. 'Cause she totally is.

  • apparently heaven has youtube.

  • @repacheap aaww thats cute..I like that

  • Mágnifica interpretación en directo de Hayley de la canción celta "She moved through the fair" con un fantástico coro detrás.

  • Her voice is absoulutely beautiful!

  • Would anyone who speaks Gaelic be able to post what the choir backing her is singing?

  • Just a FANTASTIC SONG...thanx for uploading it!!!!!

  • Lord of the Dance - Our Wedding Day

    EPIC!

I can't decide which is the best

  • Orlas version blows this version away. This is no where near as haunting.

  • @UndercoverCracker I guess it's personal isn't it? Both do an excellent version of the song. I prefer Méav's soaring vocals with this song, but I prefer Órla's voice on a song as Down By The Sally Gardens.

  • I love the arrangement of this song! The drumming, and the choir, along with Meav's stunning vocals, make this my favorite interpretation!

  • Why does the BEST talent come from over the pond? Here in America they have "things" like Lady Gaga screeching out songs. I need to go back to the UK where my family has deep roots.

  • @cafe20011 At the same time, it makes you wonder what this group would be like if Meav herself wasn't in it, let alone this song too, because even though I still like Celtic Woman, it's not the same without Meav and Orla.

  • What an amazing voice and moves so gracefully through the stage. Just wonderful.

  • Chloe Agnew! Me Heart drops at her songs too

  • canna ye ayll not see? They're singin songs from the "eires" (IreLand) and Love each song from em, the Lovely Ladies♥

  • with a lot of emotional heart-sung, I am thrilled and grateful

  • i agree. can't think that 12 idiots dislike this haunting song and haunting voice. how on the earth could you find such a more beautiful voice than meav's?

  • @Tangerine258

She is marvelous. Never has a female affected me like these ladies do. Meav makes my soul ache, my heart pound, my head spin, and my stomach flutter. I was in such awe of this young woman that I didn't really know what the rest of me felt like. But I know an angel when I hear one! Bravo to you! What natural beauty! I'm at a loss for words...

  • I had my mp3 on shuffle and this song came on. The next song was by Taylor Swift. That song sounded so bad it hurt my ears. Normally I like Taylor Swift, but she sounded so bad after the beauty of Meav's voice in this song.

  • i really like the end when both her and the chorus are singing

  • I can't decide which solo of Méav I like the most.. it's just amazing how she is able to handle soft ballads like this and the more 'cheeky' songs as Dulàman or Si Dho Mhameo I.

  • Shouldn't a man be singing this song? After all, the song is coming from the man's point of view...

  • @toughner if music is true it has no gender regardless of the words

  • Simply beautiful..such an amazing voice such an amazing group of artists

  • :O

oh my goodness! this is so amazing! and beautiful! and WOW! I can't describe how great this song is!

  • I wonder whats with the ten folks that didnt like it..such a beautiful song sung beautiiully by a beautiful singer with an awesome voice

  • I have the 666th like

  • she sounds like a pure angel.

  • 10 people are crazy!

  • i absoloutely love the choir in this!

  • In my opinion, Meav has the best voice of the four. She sings seemingly effortless, and I mean that in a good way.

She doesn't struggle. Just so relaxed

  • @VioletTeen17 I so agree with that ;) I love everyone Celtic Woman, but I think I see her as my favorite...

  • She sings and looks absolutely gorgeous... Every celtic lady is fabulous, but she is still my favorite from the original line. Méav, I miss you!

  • Who are those fools that didnt like'd Meav?

  • @dernhelmrs

Apparantly people who don't appreciate wonderfully-beautiful singing.

  • @HonRosie6 Well,HonRosie6,they just proove,by me,that just have lack of a good taste in music and life :-)

  • @dernhelmrs

    Yep, thats about right!!!!

  • @HonRosie6 I guess that we clicked,then;-) ,didn't we?

  • @dernhelmrs

    Uhhhh.... lol, i guess!!!!:)

  • @HonRosie6 Actually,i'm quite sure of it..we both have more than enough of good taste in music(altough i know nothing else about you)

  • @dernhelmrs

Lol, thats probably the ONLY thing I have good taste in!! ;P

    Well of course you dont!!!!!!

  • @HonRosie6 Than, maybe you could share some of inputs about you,if you like?

  • @dernhelmrs

ummm... welll... its kinda hard to say stuff about yourself... know wat i mean? but i'm nice!! lol ;P

  • @HonRosie6 Well i know that you're nice:-)..i knew that already.....:-)...but what else beside that? i mean what can you say about yourself,if you're willing to sare more of you with me at all? :-)

  • LOVE THIS SONG, or at least, love the way she sings it :)

  • CW isnt the same without her.

  • My God! If the beauty on earth is so great, what awesome beauty awaits us in Heaven when we meet You face to face!

  • @connandie Amen! Makes me pretty excited! :D

  • I agree why did they have to leave Celtic Woman its just not the same without them...

=( I hope one day that Meav and Orla can reunite with Celtic Woman

  • @browneyedgirls102 They lef to spend time with family.

  • @browneyedgirls102 sorry to bother u but ive only just discovered these beautiful women wi voices of angels wr cud i find out mr abt them i guess meav and orla have left so r they still goin is lisa still with them she is so beautiful and wot a gorgeous voice any info wud b greatfull thnx

  • What a wonderful voice that méav's... As everyone says, it's angelic... I wish I saw her in celtic woman's concert... argh...

But does someone know what exactly the choir is singing behind??? I really need it so if someone could answer, i would really be grateful for him (her)....

  • If anybody want the lyrics, here they are: My young love said to me My mother won't mind And my father won't slight you For your lack of kind. And she stepped away from me And this she did say "Oh, it will not be long love 'Til our wedding day". She stepped away from me And she moved through the fair And fondly I watched her Move here and move there.
  • And she made her way onward With one star awake As the swan in the evening Moves over the lake. Last night she came to me She came softly in So softly she came Her feet made no din. And she laid her hand on me And this she did say "It will not be long love 'Til our wedding day".
  • This is absolutely gorgeous music. I just happened to bump into this singing group thanks the a music video of HTTYD. This really gives me inspiration for a story I am writing. Someone should use this as movie music.

  • I sang this song in Germany on St Patricks night 1998 ...sang like a banshee!!!! wish i could sing like these ladies :) but lord above i love this song!!!!!

  • If you are their fans why would you say they aren't much without Meav and Orla?? They are all beautiful singers with or without these 2 ladies that left!!!

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THE LYRICS? i desperately want to learn how to sing this song!

  • @Analiketika411 type in 'celtic woman she mov'd thro the fair lyrics' and you should find tons of sites with lyrics

  • The choir backing her is fantastic...

  • @sefrims1 agreed. the whole orchestra, choir, and of course the main ladies, are all A1 musicians!

  • Meav and Orla...what a duo!

  • One of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. I commend the singer and the composer who re arranged this classic. I love this song and this group. They have a huge spot in my heart. They are one of the reasons I love music as much as I do.

  • One of Celtic Women's BEST songs......Thanx for posting it!

  • one of my favorite celtic songs!

  • Celtic Woman are THE BEST!!!!

  • a goddess

  • ... traumhaft ...

  • I agree, without Orla and Meav, Celtic Woman is good. However with these two women they are great.

  • @RogueWolf711 I know... To be perfectly honest, I was a little disappointed when I first heard them sing with the new line-up... I mean, they're still good, like you said, but it's just not the same...

  • Well, excellent version. For what concerns a version with few musicians listen to Judy Collins. I love both ways of interpreting this beautiful song.

    Great thanks !

  • she has a voice of an angel , it's beautiful ! :)

  • Does anyone know what the choir is singing? :)

  • I LOVE HER DRESSS!!!!!! I love this song, too. It's sooo pretty.

  • awesome!

  • Orla and Meav both do pretty versions of this song; they're both unique in their own ways. But I still prefer Meav's.

  • Orlas is more celtic and more haunting.

  • Agreed, in no way would I be trying to diminish Orla or any of the other girls because they are all fantasic singers, but Meav is my favorite/

  • @lunescent2007 I agree. It's so weird how certain songs fir different voices better. For example, I think that Méav sings this better, but I prefer Órla's version of Down By The Sally Gardens.

  • omg, What beautiful highnotes!!!

she sings this so well, not many people can sing so well in a higher register with such clear diction!

  • Ok , This is the most amazing interpretation I have ever heard of a song like this, with these highs and low tons...

Nobady, NEVER, could and would sing it so awsome as this woman did...

Celestial voice, a beauty, an angel...This is Mèav...

  • I don't understand these people here, Méav's soaring, deep and clean vocals are perfect for this song. I would love it if people would stop with attacking her, she is a great vocalist who deserves the same love as the other women get. Lisa, Chloë, or Órla wouldn't have done it better. I know Órla has a version, but she sings it far too slow.

  • Listen to Orlas version its even more amazing.

  • @UndercoverCracker

    orly?

    :)

  • Yes really!

  • thats a soprano voice for ya! I'm a soprano 1 as well.

  • Soprano doesnt mean shreeky...Only some of this is.

  • none of it is dork

  • @UndercoverCracker

Sometimes it can be a little shreeky.

  • Her turns are so clean. Clean, very clean.

  • stalker8241 it was written for male singer. His true love died of TB before their wedding but he still sees her spirit. Barbara Dickson gives this beautiful song its true emotion. Lyrics on Wikipedia.

  • um, is she singing 'she' of 'he' in this song??

  • she is so hot.........

  • I miss Meav so bad, but I'm glad that she accepted the invitation to record a song in "Tinker Bell and The Lost Treasure" with Lisa and Mairead. Meav will always be my favourite soprano singer. I think it's time to support her solo career even though my heart is broken by her departure from Celtic Woman ...

  • I understand how you feel... Méav is a great artist and will always be my favorite Celtic Woman. It was horrible to hear of her depature. But she is doing it very well solo and she deserves that.

Many people are always drawn to Lisa, but I'm drawn to Méav. Méav has something unspoken in her appearance...

  • Well, I'm also drawn to Lisa because os her warm feeling in every song she does. Lisa and Meav are my favourite singers while Mairead is my absolute favourite fiddler. Gladly Lisa still stays with Celtic Woman. Therefore, I support Meav's solo career and Celtic Woman's success respectively. ^_^

  • enough with the cows....I'm trying to watch the gorgeous girl belt out a great tune

  • How can it be? she's amazing!!!

  • why does it matter anyway??

  • My young love said to me, "my mother won't mind, and my father won't slight you for your lack of kine".

  • I don't think it's "kine", but rather "kind".

Maybe he doesn't have enough cows, but I don't think that's the point of the song.

  • Well I searched the lyric a few days ago and it said "kine", though someone could have been misinformed..

  • @monkeyboyiv, take into consideration the setting of this song. How many cows you may have may define your social status/wealth. However, there have been many variations of this. Some sing "My brothers won't mind", some sing "your lack of kind" and some sing "your lack of kine." So really, it doesn't quite matter ;) No one is really wrong.

  • I stand corrected. It is probably "kine" in the original intent.

  • She has a beautiful voice. If you enjoy, check Cara Dillon from Derry singing the same song.

  • she is soo beautiful, and she always looks like she's having so much fun singing. i can't think of anyone else that was born to sing more than Meav.

    simply amazing.

  • SImply wonderful. A voice from Heaven, a voice that only a fairy can have...

  • @LuthienofOssiriand I'm a fan of them, and I think they're fine the way they are. It doesn't matter if Meav's there or not, I like them anyway. And always will.

    Great song though!

  • does anyone know what the choir is chanting in the background? can someone please translate?

  • She is my favorite from the group.

  • Is Meav the first soloist here? I loved her. Why did she leave Celtic Women?

  • She left on maternity leave and decided to stay with her new family for the time being. You're right, she is awesome.

  • Who is she married to? Does anybody know?

  • I have no information on her spouse, but she left the group to have her first daughter, Anna, and she recently had her second daughter Catherine.

    Hope this helps.

  • I know about her children, I was just surprised that her website didn't say, in fact it didn't even say when her birthday is.

  • thats kind of mean...

  • I still think this version (Meav's) is the best.

  • Wonderful song that's marvellously sung, but somehow too positive regarding the actual tragic turn of the story not included here... Well, Celtic Woman is an ensemble addressing a mainly American audience after all. I'm also sad that Méav has left the group... T-T

  • why do I go crazy when I hear this sort of beautiful Celtic music? I must have born in Ireland in one of my previous lives... lovely!

  • Ha! I have the exact same thing!

  • You have the exact same thing? or you feel the exact same thing? I believe the second, haha..

  • Yes, that's what I meant:) I am Dutch so my English probably sucks haha

  • the opening music (not sure what the instrument was) sent chills down my back that didn't go away until the ned of the song.
