I'm not too bothered as it doesn't change how intelligent and funny he is but if I was in his shoes i would have some integrety to my job as a comedian (not a job in marketing :). Advertising forms a staple part of any actors' income. "Whoring himself" is a pretty strong accusation against someone who has done, I think, one series of harmless radio ads (probably quite helpful, if you're looking for cheap insurance :-) ).

Personally, I think Iggy Pop selling car insurance was one of the funniest - and rock and roll! - things I've ever seen (though I think a lot of people probably wouldn't appreciate why I think that).
