The BCP has dropped out of favour for the main service over here. Been replaced by Common Worship. The BCP does not meet the needs of modern Christians as its theames are judgement and penance. Certainly not suitable for seasons such as Easter where the emphasis is on celebrating the resurrection. Also what was clear in 1662 is not so clear in meaning now. Language has changed.
Suprised how popular it still is in North America. First BCP sung eucharist was in Canada.
I'm definitely "old school". I wish they had never quit using the 1928 prayer book. Also the 1940 hymnal is head and shoulders better than the 1982 version.
I was confirmed in 1974 and the words of the 1928 book "spoke" to me in a way the new on just does not.
I was a music student in college and we used the 1940 hymnal as a source book for studying music theory. No other hymnal could top it.
Why change something when you've already got it right?
The 1979 BCP isn't deserving of the title. It is a RADICAL departure from the classic, authentic Prayer Book tradition (which the 1928 American edition manages to preserve).
It is very similar to the 1985 'Book of Alternative Services', of the Canadian Church (indeed, the BAS was modelled upon the '79 BCP). Fortunately for Canada, although, unfortunately, the BAS has widely supplanted our great 1962 BCP here, the Church has been honest enough to not call this book the 'Book of Common Prayer'.
Great work again, Father. Could you do a vlog sometime soon about the current tension between the See of Canterbury and the Episcopal Church at large? Wasn't the decision of woman's ordination settled years ago?
wow great video for someone who doesnt know alot about this religion

One might note that the lectionary in the BCP has been supplanted by the Revised Common Lectionary

If I get a Book of Common Prayer, I will actually have an Episcopalian Catechism in it? That is cool.

Another great video. I was wondering if you can do a video explaining the lectionary, its origins and the advantages of following this system?
