  • great stuff. powerful but clean sound!

  • What is your hi hat, omg i love the sound of it

  • What made you choose Sound Formulas over 2002s?

  • @jdrummys

When I went to my local music shop looking for an 18" crash, I set up a couple to try out including a 2002 and I found the SF to sound better (to my ears) than the others. A very dynamic cymbal line. Still love it to this day and it's going on 21 years old :)

  • Gotta be "Song Remains the Same"

  • I love not just how you sound like Bonham but your facial expressions and emotions are like that of Bonhams

  • whole lotta love "tsrts" ?

  • @aczeppelindc2908

    correct

  • @GrooveDrummin yes, im fucking awesome!

  • Hey man! There's a Zeppelin night goin on at the Townehouse that you might wanna check out. Within the next couple weeks

  • GD: what is that crash you use-the one with the fingermarks around the edge? In thius vid it is the one on your left. (I might have asked you this before..) It looks to be lighter like a 602 or a B12 Sig/SF?

  • @bonzoleum

That's an 18" Sound Formula Full Crash. Bought it around '89.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Speechless.….…..…

  • to me, that's the perfect drum sound all around!

  • I love the sound of your drums and your mics are awesome! Oh and you can fricken wail too! Great job! Super tasty groove!! Can you tell me how you tune your toms tho? wich side is tighter than the other?

  • @Bo123drum

In this video the toms are tuned low batter, medium tight reso on the rack tom and both floors have very low reso. Thank you for watching!

  • i like how you ended it. very snappy. love it

  • yes DZ rock on!

  • Woooooooooooh !!!!!!!

  • What do you use for cymbals? Did you use Paiste's?

  • @Pepper2Jason

    yes 2002

  • Hey man, I like your playing. I consider myself somewhat of an imitator as well. "First you imitate, then you innovate." Miles Davis

  • @jpb318 I appreciate your MD quote...I am a self-taught drummer (since late 1973), and most of my learning came from imitating the drumming off of records...then after my skill repertoire was built up (from imitation), I began to branch out and innovate...

  • Really tight. Nice one

  • The bassdrum-sound is godlike!

  • haha, i love how u stare at your shadow... i find myself doing this all the time, or if theres something reflective that i can see myself in while drumming i just stare at it,

    its almost like critiquing yourself

    great job man

  • Absolutely Great! Your snare sounds great as well!

  • hey when will u do a video on tuning drums? great sound !

  • working on a 60min dvd with all the details. Thanks!

  • are you working in a studio as a session drummer or something?

  • all my gear...been collecting throughout the years :) and I have a large basement with 10 ft ceilings. I also have worked in studios doing sessions.

  • Hi...

    nice drumming !

This is a yamaha steel snare drum too?

    Thanks

  • Hi, this snare is made of aluminum and is a ludwig supraphonic (LM402). Thank you!

  • sounds like "The Song Remains The Same"

  • do this whole song!

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • Aaaahhh yeah, no mistaking Paistes!!! I've owned 16" and 18" Signature Full Crashes and 14" Sigs SE and 15" 2002 Sound Edge hats for 17 years now and love the 18" and 15" hats the best. I was going for the Bonham sound too. Love your cymbal sound. Great groove, TSRTS!! What kind of hats you playing here?

  • 14" Sound Creations with sound edge. Thank you!

  • The bass drum sound is dead on to Bonham's!

  • Thank you!! I guess I should have gone into the next section but I thought it might get boring for some.

  • I had to come back and listen to this again, its powerful and graceful! I wanted it to break into the slow groove when Plant starts singing too, oh well, maybe for next time ;)

  • Wow! I -wish- I could find someone who could play like you when I record my songs.

  • Send me some mp3s :)

  • song remains the same

  • Pearl Eliminator 6/8 tight. Thanks.

  • Out of curiosity, what Bass Pedal do you use and how tight is it? Just wonderin'...

    Ace playing by the way.

  • How about Achilles or In My Time of Dying

    or maybe the Wanton Song?

  • yeah, some drummers who tried my kit commented on how tight my pedals springs felt.

  • do you use really tight tension on your pedal?

  • REEAAALL tight! you are a mix of Johnny Bonham, and Budd Rich.

  • Not really a main crash as I use both equally but the one by the hats is an 18" Paiste Sound Formula Full Crash, $240 CAD.

  • which one is your main crash (the one closest to the hats)? it sounds amazing, how much did it cost

  • Great playing, man. I have the same kit. I am a lefty player, but i find your technique awesome. Way to keep bonzo's spirit alive.

  • Thank you

  • do you play heel down or heel up?

  • My heel doesn't touch but isn't far off the floor until I do doubles or triples, then my heel raises slightly, not much though.

  • Ahh, knew I'd heard it somewhere ;-)

  • Nice playing man. Love it. My ears have always tended towards a preference for that groove style of drumming and you nailed a nice one.

  • Hey my friend, this was inspired by the bootleg you sent me. Thank you!

  • well done!

  • Remember you were asking me to explain the meaning of groove? This might be better expressed by demonstrating than putting into words.

  • Excellent, excellent, excellent!!! Fantastic right-foot work on the bass drum and as I've mentioned before on your vids, the snare drum is AWESOME SOUNDING!!! Very Bonham-like sound..Great job, man!!! Keep the vids rolling in!!!

  • Thanks a lot!!!

  • your a rock solid dead accurate drummer!! very precise.. practice pays off!! nice work man!!

  • Thank you! Practice is the key (did a lot when I was young)...now-a-days I get to practice only once a week :(

  • i play about 5-6 times a week.. thankfully i have my brother to play with who is a badass guitarist.. the only thing i regret is never took lessons after all these years.. Oopps ;)

  • Cool! BTW, what size sticks do you use? I'm guessing 5B

  • Yes, Vic Firth 5B classic (not extreme). Thanks

  • Wow,realy power rhythm drum

  • I love your style of playing Groove, just watching and listening to you ^^

  • Song Remains the Same! Has a great live-bonham feel to it. What a wonderful groove to listen and play to. Great Job.
