An "Ex" of mine (A big time fan, she "dragged me" to a Banshees gig in Canterbury to see them as support act) would sing ".. When it's swallowed Aldershot..." at the end of the chorus. Her Nan lived there apparently! (I do remember the slide show, that bit was good!)
man i love the human league! defnitiely one of the most influential groups of all time! they are just brilliant. i do think travelouge and reproduction are one of the best albums! thanks for the upload!
I remember hearing this on "Cash Cows", a Virgin sampler circa 1981...was both terrified & thrilled by this sound. Well, for a chick growing up in the suburbs of Scarberia it was mind-blowing...
@MrSpilane Ha, I had that too. It had the most dreadful artwork of a dancing cow. I do remember it also contained the grand Ain't That peculiar by Japan, as well as tracks by Martha and The Muffins, Nash The Slash, Magazine, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, The Ruts, Tangerine Dream, XTC... Seriously, as compilations go, it had some pretty significant bands on it. And all for the price of a single! £1.15 if my memory don't fail me.
@HerrFOAD I assumed the same thing. I just got the remastered Travelogue & Reproduction and was not expecting to be stopped dead in my tracks with its epic-ness. It seems to me as soon as the ladies showed it, it went to hell. Those two albums are f'ing groundbreaking for their time.
they had some pretty nice dark tracks, and this wasn't the best of them, but howsoever i'm glad to hear that again. if anybody has some of that awesome tracks - please upload. their chart hots are boring anyway.
Wow - super piece, lakey! Are they some local shops being pulled up? And who are the Individuals in the field, absorbed but then cast out, apparently in bad shape from the experience? Oh, love the J. Burke cameo! His shows were faves of mine, 'though they've not been rebroadcast in some time on our science channel or elsewhere. Meanwhile, I've added this to my FB page.
Jesus, it's overhead now, the mid-day sky has darkened -'though moments ago it was clear. It's sucked up Independence Hall and the horrible shopping mall with 5 cookie cutter CD shops, and now it's heading to the Gayborhood! Here we go, Cosma and Joe!
Great job on this one
