@eddieyahooable There is NO way Golden Retriever's are number 2 on that list. You must have been mistaken, I think everyone knows that Golden Retrievers are the most family-friendly dog there is. Either you were mistaken or that list was, because Golden Retrievers are known to be the best family dogs, which is why they are not good guard dogs because they Do Not Bite.

The German Shepherd is #1 on the biting list. Golden retriever is #2 and Chow Chow is #3. The pit is #8. Big difference. My cousins German Shep bit his 3 year old daughter in the face after she fell on her... any dog can be an aggressor, but it's got to be brought up that way. I love pits. I find them to be sweet hearts with a soft heart. soft as the boxer.

Most bites by goldens are nips that break the skin but just barely (it has to break the skin to be considered a bite, otherwise its called mouthing). Keep in mind that golden retrievers and labs are also the most popular breed in North America, so of course there's going to be a higher proportion of bites. Pitbulls, shepherds, dobermans, etc are feared because of the severity of their bites. which does a lot of damage.

VERY few dogs resort to biting without SOME sign, and its out jobs as response owners to ensure our dog isnt in a situation where it feels necessary to lash out. I'm very much against BSL, as EVERY pit ive met has been super friendly and loving, and I've also met labs that scare the crap out of me because their owners didn't train/socialize them properly.
