  • i finally got this as my lesson! YESS!!! lol i had that darn Haydn for like 3 months I was on the edge haaha

  • I'm probably very clueless right now but, if Mozart didn't write any cello concertos then whats this?

  • Where can I get the music

  • yeah the cello is stunning!! great piece of music

  • I love cello,

but oboe with this melody sounds more vivid

maybe because the oboe version is more popular than the cello one.

    Mozart is great after all.

  • @papagena1991 The oboe concerto is not just more popular ; it is the original written by Mozart who was an expert at writing for different instruments. It is also popular in the transcription he made for flute in the key of D major. This is a modern arrangement for cello which I have never heard before. Cellists are desperate because Mozart did not write a concerto for them although he wrote for nearly every other instrument!

  • @MrFpam

Thank you for your kind information.

    I love this cello version.

  • this song sounds alot like the hadyn cello concertos

  • @bmxaddict1000 This is not a song, it is a concerto, but the style is certainly similar to Haydn's cello concertos, especially the D major.

  • Stupid people (with a couple of exceptions)....the concerto was originally written for OBOE NOT FLUTE!!! Mozart transcribed it for flute because he had a commission deadline to meet and no time to write anything new. I agree that the cello version is very interesting, but really, how many instruments have to steal this concerto from us!?

  • @bluesidelove Actually we (flutists) didn't steal nothing as, you said, Mozart himself transcribed this concerto for flute...btw i still prefer woodwinds for this concerto because cello seems so nonsense..

  • interesting.

  • 0 dislikes... way to go mozart.

  • did the genius only have 1 cello concerto? what's the deal

  • @DiVeronica Eh. xD The fact of the matter is that this "cello concerto" wasn't even meant to be for cello. It's a transcription from his Flute Concerto in D Major.Equally as disappointed - tried searching up for cello concertos written by him. There really isn't much of a varied collection of compositions for cello written by him - as I search through the pages.Seems the so-called "Mozart" cello concertos and sonatas are transcriptions.

  • @daniel3231995 yeah. I've heard his "prussian" pieces that showcase the cello and they're not very impressive. he did that work on commission to Fredrich William though- who was a cellist.

  • In my opinion the cello gives it more style and color than the flute would.

  • @k73f I searched "Mozart cello concerto" just to see if such a work exists, and am disappointed that his was the first result. I love this piece, but it was written for oboe and not (I think) cello *or* flute.

  • @polymath7 there was actually a supposed "Cello Concerto", KV206a catalogued, from which only about 200 bras are conserved, the rest of it is missing. But this one is just a transcription for Cello from the Flute Concerto KV314.

  • @CarlitosDessay 200 what?

  • @dwgalviniii the way it sounds. :)

  • @k73f It is very attractive and more lighthearted on the flute, which was Mozart's own arrangement. It is even better on the oboe , which was Mozart's original. It is the greatest and most popular oboe concerto. Cellists are unhappy that Mozart did not write a cello concerto, so attempts have been made to arrange other concertos for cello.

  • I have only heard the oboe version of this concerto; the cello transcription sounds very good too.
