to be quite honest, in this case I think it's really sweet when the audience started singing along with him. that has to be an amazing feeling for a composer and lyricist -- so many people knowing your songs by heart so that they can spontaneously burst out singing them, just as the characters in the movies do. :) a lot of menken's songs are so full of emotion that I, personally, find it hard not to sing along when I hear them played.
