  • Actually watch Bolt's fault start at Daegu in slow-motion, he also drags his foot.

  • АМЕРЕКОСЫ ДОЛБАЁБЫ!!!

  • da name of the soundtrack?

  • If you look at Bolts start, he also drags his foot !

  • im sorry but that foot tap must of been a mistake. because, physically speaking, drag does, in no way, shape or form, promotes speed. it's just a well known law of science. drag = lag.

  • @suprofly obviously the actual drag doesn't improve speed(and may hurt it by a tiny tiny amount) but the act of bring the feet through very low to the ground in the first few strides greatly increases acceleration(it's due to creating a lower center of gravity, making the force vectors of each stride more horizontal)... the toe drag is just what they've been trained to do as a cue.

  • @suprofly It is simple. Dragging his foot he makes sure he uses the full length of his leg when launching.

  • Ive Got Them Spikes :D

    Theyre MAD Comfortable :P

  • @clipzy2k8 urs say asafa?

  • pause the vid at 0:43 it's an optical lillusion. It looks like he's still moving but he isn't. Stare at the screen.

  • @Iethereal explain!

  • @MrBusunglueck just stare at the screen lol.

  • @Iethereal yea but he does move

  • "The Foot Drag" is a technique, that some coaches teach, because it helps to keep the rare leg straight coming out the blocks and it allows for full extention on your first step going into your drive phase. Hope this clears things up! Thumbs up.

  • LOL fail start .. toe drag?? new technique.

  • did he jump?

  • best

  • its my 2nd year doing track so im not very well experienced x.x how high should my backside be? ive seen some at 90degrees and this one is higher than 90degrees

  • @Jenny102938 Hey, Im not a coach, but i can tell you that you shouldnt try to imitate this exact technique, even when it is a great example. This is very pro. And answering to your question, your hips should be above your shoulders. Front leg between 90-110º and back leg between 130-150º.

Pardon my english! Im from Spain.

  • The best star...

  • the best tec.

  • @TopJasonSpinning I agree, except the one foot hits the ground

  • does anyone know the name of what he is wearing or where i cud find it\

  • nice start

  • he goes FAR

  • why doesnt asafa powell do that toe drag anymore??

  • 0:43 that tap to the ground! haha

  • @DonRootz He overextends the first step, he probably compensates with the second one..he should take a little off that first step, he would have a better start

  • How can you make sure your heels are right level with the blocks so you dont waste time having to force them back once you here the gun?

  • If you have a hard spikeplate you don't have to worry about that...

  • Video is way sweeter without sound, it takes on much more of an eerie beauty.

  • only an inch off the ground. So in short, he does know what the fuck he is doing. It's physics. And it's proven

  • body moves through the air. His toe drags on the ground because his heel recovery does not exist. That's why he is so fast out of the blocks. He pushes with his back leg until he needs to catch himself with his front leg ( running is just coordinated falling). His back leg drags on the until it's in front of him and then he pushes it backwards to more his body forward. If you could see his second step I would bet that his foot coming forward is almost dragging as well. If not, it's probably

  • It's called heel recovery. When you come out of the blocks, you want to minimize heel recovery. The more rotation the heel (or whole foot in general) has around the hip, the slower it is. This is because the foot is not traveling in a straight line from ground (in hip extension) to high knee (in hip flexion). In this video, you see his knee drive up out of the blocks. As his knee drives up, the other leg pushes backwards into the blocks, pushing him forward. Because he is strong enough his whole

  • anyone knows the name of the song.???

  • hes the worlds quickest man... i think he knows what the fuck hes doing when he drags his foot

  • @runforrestrun37

    wrong...bolt>him

  • @francisvolley He said "worlds quickest" not "worlds fastest". Obviously Bolt's the fastest man but Powell's the quickest because of his fast reaction and acceleration out of the blocks.

  • @runforrestrun37 not anymore..

  • @ModifyPhase well his comment was posted 2 years ago :o

  • asafa powell=power

  • When he drags his foot at the ground, he get a more explosive shoutout. And when the next step comes, the foot he drags with, will be straight under for a other explosive step.

  • He might just be dragging his foot for the camera. I doubt he wants to give anything away to his competitors if they see this, so he just does a mediocre start for show. I dont really know. Just a thought.

  • lol nice love tap on the ground, then BOOM

  • now that's triple extension

  • his fuckin left leg drags on the track stupid ad

  • fucking idiot if u have any knowledge about sprinting u'll know that is suppose to happen and fyi he always do that. Go read r something man fuck.

  • I can't see why his leg dragging is supposed to happen. I'm a 400m runner and I've never witnessed this or anyone talk of this. In my opinion it only causes friction, holds him back and slightly slows him down, not to mention damaging his spikes on the track! Unless you can give me a reason why it is supposed to happen then I think that shambles is right.

  • i did that before. i came out first in a race when i drag my leg like that. yall supposed to jump the blocks like that.

  • i think it might just be for the video, to get a dead straight leg and exaggerate he had a to drag his foot. not sure :/

  • what a massive first step!

  • it was an excellent example, the leg breaking is only to emphazise the fact that you should explode and drive strong.

  • that was a bad example

  • go read man the reason for that is to trigger the pulse in is power leg; which is the one that is at the back some person's use different leg right or left at the back. Its for faster turn overs i learn that from his coach which is also my coach.

  • exceptional, but not perfect. at 43 seconds his left leg does some braking.

  • perfect
