  • suicide is never the option

  • Worst movie ever.

  • I loved this movie.but everybody I watced it with hated it because they were expecting Will Smith to come in with a grenade and sacrifice himself, saving them all...

  • me and my mother watched this, after she saw the end, she never wanted to watch this movie ever again. i cant believe the guy didn't know that they were close to being saved. poor old people, amanda, and kid :(

  • I love the trumpeting sounds its making, just hearing it sends chills down my back

  • Meh, if that was the same thing as the tentacle-monster at the beginning, there would have been audible footsteps, and it could have just crushed the roof. For all we know, tentacles are common in their world.

Also gonna assume that it's filled with lighter-than-air gas bladders, because otherwise the square-cube law wouldn't look kindly upon it.

  • @MrMthornstrom My sentiments exactly, xD.

  • Too bad they didn't film a scene where the US military fights this monster.

  • It's not impossible.. It's just that there is nothing big enough to prove if it is possible, in which it would be.

  • Yup its the Mammoth from kingdom under fire.

  • Its a Swamp Mammoth from Kingdom Under Fire lol

  • Lol the kid's like: I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that....

  • LOVECRAFT

  • and that one's just a baby.

  • Godzilla vs this thing.

  • YOU FOOL! Nobody owns the mist!

  • @IAMSHUGO Frank Darabont did both The Mist and The Walking Dead, so it would kind of make sense that they have a lot of the same cast.

  • @carturd95 the guy knows how to work with great character actors. Character actors make a movie much better than a million dollar face with no talent.

  • 0_0 its an colosi :O

  • I love how the Blonde and Old Dude from The Walking Dead are in the car and then ((SPOILER!!!!) when the tank and rescued people are driving past, you see the older woman who lost her daughter..and husband.. also from Walking Dead. =P It's like the casting crew for Walking Dead just looked at this movie and went "them."

  • And I for one would like to welcome our new impossibly tall creature overlords

  • Because nothing says tension like a wailing Celtic woman.

  • Now..just imagine the size of it's poop...

  • money is money but.. Tanya should really be a little bit more selective when it comes to Ray's clients

  • the music makes the movie 10x better

  • Nicely edited scene. My personal favourite scene purely for the intensity is further on when.... Well you know what happens :)

  • I love as soon as he see's the creature, he comes to the conclusion of " yyyyeeeeaaaaa theirs no way in hell we can survive with that big muthafucka walkin around....we might as well kill ourselves "

  • Bring back our troops,.... and send this monster over there !!!

  • When the soldiers appeared at the end of the movie all I could think was TROLOLOLOLOLOL

  • There are very few movie scenes that I can say are truly awe-inspiring. This one definitely was, though.

  • dude, i would have shit my pants right in the car.

  • the only reason I would say the cloverfield monster would win is because although this creature is very massive and i'm sure quite strong proportional to its size, the cloverfield monster appeared to be disproportionately strong and it even appeared invulnerable, no weapon or anything the army threw at it barely phased it, this monster although it could take a lot, im sure missiles and napalm bombs would bruise, tear, and burn this monster, cloverfield monster was invincible apparently

  • You know, were it not for the fact that everyone died at the end, this movie could be a prequel to The Walking Dead

  • Just so you know, putting up a message that says "I do not own this video" is sort of the same as stealing the crown jewels, putting them on display, and holding up a sign that says, "I do not own these"

  • An amazing scene. Something about that monster is so beautiful and mysterious. One of the best movies ever!

  • you are REALLY Andy Serkis ?

  • first thing I thought of when I saw that was: "This is their world now."

  • I saw this movie seconds ago. I'm shocked by the irony in the end. So tragic. Stephen King stories always are the best

  • @EISOBAX haha best chuck norris story i've heard

  • @coryboy345 LOL

  • its chuthullu

  • If it took a dump, it would have crushed the car.

  • Two top comments, and they both retarded.

  • Am I right in thinking the blonde is the same one that is in THE WALKING DEAD... What a beautiful woman

  • @r7fronz Yes, she is also from "Silent Hill", "Fantastic Four", "Highlander", "Expect no mercy" etc etc.^^

  • Ah, this clip was so beautiful... the haunting music, along with the glimpse of an impossibly massive, yet passive creature, really made this one of the best scenes.

  • This creature ate Moby dick for breakfast ^^

  • me and my friend made a debate on what would win in a fight the mist monster vs the cloverfield monster we said that maby a teen cloverfield moster would win the baby eh 40 to 60

  • @henryzetabluewolf But The Mist monster doesn't look like it can do anything except walk....Very slowly

  • @kebabuk yeah but what are those tenticles for looks and then how will it eat

  • @henryzetabluewolf The mist monster would win..the movie made it smaller than it really is...it was meant to be so high you could look up in the air and only see its legs..So ima go for the mist monster

  • since the army shows up 5 min later i wonder how thy dealt with that

  • I love this movie because there it's not the usual happy ending!!! I love how it's made. I would so want that creature as a pet!!!

  • This movie sickens me

  • I love this movie and this scene but ppl get real there is no way the Great Thing could've killed Norm, the tentacles belong to another creature. Secondly this thing would squash Cloverfield(my other favorite) because it's over 250 feet. This song fitted perfectly with this scene too.

  • I freaking love it when they go all lovecraftian on us!! Im a sucker for every movie where they just go all out with the monsters. When will we see a movie creature big enough to be spotted from space? I would die of happiness

  • I loved the creature as depicted in the film - but it should have been bigger. In the novella, David is not certain how big it is, but he says it was large enough to make a blue whale look like a trout in comparison.

  • Should have at least been the size of the Emperor Sea Strider from Expedition and Alien Planet.

Estimated Height of Impossibly Tall Creature from The Mist: 200-240ft

    Cloverfield (Stated Height): 260ft

    Tallest Emperor Sea Strider: 620ft

  • it is the pet of Chuck Norris

  • I love how the music is in total contrast to the pictures...beautiful :D

  • I think that monster was most peaceful monster of them all in the mist.

  • @temoo91 I suppose the monster doesn't attack them because they are in the car and it can't smell them (as it is explained in the book), but I can imagine it is the same kind of monster that attacks them in the supermarket for the first time (the tentacles are very suspicious...) xD So maybe it isn't so peaceful...

  • *SPOILER-ISH COMMENT*

how in the world did the military kill it? at the end of the movie it looks like they have everything under control but how do they think they're going to kill it?

  • @xight101 With Strykers, Abrams, Javelins, Tomohawk Cruise Missiles, JDAMs, Artillery, and FIRE. :D

  • the tall monster looks like cthulu

  • if it bleeds we can kill it

  • @SamuraiPie8111 classic movie line right there!

  • i think some sidewinder missiles could do the job =3

  • @prototype434 or hellfire missles

  • A bunch of tenticals.......... Yep Japan made it

  • @frankos93 lol true, i ment like more then one tank,

  • lol i think it might be friendly lol

  • @frankos93 maybe a tank or alot of bombs

  • how many of those things were there?

  • @frankos93 guns... really big... really powerful guns

  • @imajenius415 lol pretty much big guns

  • man that car would be smellin like shit after when i seen that thing

  • that its a bigger than clover :o

  • If it reached to the stratosphere it couldn't deny the law of physics and it would freeze and suffocate and die and fall over and cause evenmoreproblemsSHIT....just get drunk and wait to be eaten.

  • ITS A SWAMP MAMMOTH! thumbs up if you know what im talking about

  • omg i cried to this part of the movie :(

  • Its the Cloverfield Monster's big brother!

  • The Impossibly Tall Creature is Cthulhu's steed.

  • The creature reminds me of a Beksinski painting. Check out the artist ^^

  • Just hold your sword to the light and you can find it's weak spot. Then figure a way to climb it, then attack!

  • that thing come by my house i kill it

  • Is this the same creature whose tentacles dragged off the bag boy earlier? It makes sense cuz the guy said earlier "We don't even know what those tentacles were attached to..." Anyway I think it's the same creature.

  • @hairyguy23 I thought so too but how come they didn't felt the shocks back then?

  • @FlyingGold Yea I was thinking about that but remember that short earthquake before the whole tentacle scene? I don't remember if they explained what that was but I always thought it might be that gigantic creature laying down or something LOL

  • I hate the ending when he shoots them all and then the army comes 3 seconds later

  • God got bored with us so he decided to play SPORE on our planet instead :P

  • it looks so calm...i would've followed it! lol

  • Impossible??? There were dinosaurs almost just as big and long, so it's not impossible that thing can be so big if it even came from a freaking other dimension!!!! LOVED THE SCENE!

  • @JiS01 No dinosaur on earth was bigger than this creature you put a long neck sauropod next to this and it looks like a little lizard maybe there were some longer in width but not in height this things body was way above the tree line

  • It's an AKRID from LOST PLANET 2.

  • the mist is kind likfe Half Life story when miltary research open an other dimension that brigs creatures from an other world but scenes are so lovely

  • @TigreNoir007 Being that The Mist, as a book was the first part of a longer work "Dark Forces" by Stephen King was published in 1980... I'd say The Mist influenced Half Life.

  • Imperial Walker!

  • This is one Cthulhu's sons.

in a few hundred years he will learn to walk.

  • Love Stephen king but the movie was horrible creepy parts but the rest was horrific

  • @tdjagal Apparently he didn't come up with the end... you know, that really fucked up part... that was all the director's idea.

  • LONGCAT IS LONGER.

  • How does it poop?

  • Oh hi C'thulu :D

  • 0:52 David realizes he didn't want to know what those tentacles were attached to that killed norm. The ending sucked.

  • LOLWUT?

  • ...its what 1 of many arms is what grabbed the clerk in the beginning....know the shaking of the ground, then the calm...it layed down

  • It must of been a bitch taking this thing down for the army. In the end all I see are tanks and guns and no monster. R. I. P

  • @mnm14abel I would seriously pay to see a spin-off where the army take on the various mist-monsters. They probably had to nuke this one...

  • Considering that thing just walked right past those folks without eathing them probabley means it's an herbivore.

  • @johntheechidna1 are you implying this creature is from the same dimension as the one in the movie

  • @johntheechidna1 In the book, the creatures are guided only by their sense of smell. They are in the car, so the monsters can't detect their scent. Anyway, this scene should have been done just like in the book. That creature was so tall that its size almost wasted all the hope that was remaining among the survivors.

  • I always loved that thing

  • Thats a moo cow

  • This is the closest anyone's come to capturing the Lovecraftian spirit on screen. The music fits the scene perfectly, a lament for the end of humanity.

  • @HunterZolomon

This is what i felt too

  • I guess my insurance company will never believe a giant monster from another dimension shit on my car until this whole "Mist" thing is shown on the news.

  • its a Great Old One... HOLY FUCKIN SHIT RY'LEAH HAS RISEN!!

  • Anyone who says such a creature couldn't be killed (unless it had regenerative capabilities like Godzilla) obviously doesn't know about the weapons our military has, and I'm not talking about nuclear weapons either. Disposing of the body before it stank up half the state would be more problematic than actually killing it.

  • wow....it's pure Lovecraft...

  • wow !!!..........Lovecraft....

  • they were all like..

    Whaaaaaaat the fuuuuuuuck

  • jurassic park...

  • NO!

The director completely botched this scene. 1000 percent. The whole idea in the book is that this creature is so tall that our planet can never exist as it once did. Whatever hope there was is completely gone. All is lost - we can never exist/coexist with something tall enough to be in the freaking stratosphere. It's not supposed to be a couple hundred ft, rather 100s, or 1000s, or infinite. It's suppose to be so tall you look up and only see legs - this is just Cloverfield.

  • @Eparabola no because the earth would not allow that creature to survive due to lack of food.

  • @Eparabola Yea but cloverfield is also a good movie :)

  • @Eparabola but then how in the hell does that fit in with the explanation that the military opened a "door" to another dimension? what did the door do? just shit out a gigantic creature?

  • @Eparabola The director (Frank 'Shawshank' Darabont) explained this in an interview. He said the idea of a creature so tall you can only see its legs works well in the book, but it'd come across as silly on-screen. The audience would see a giant leg and laugh. The practical and philosophical implications of such a vast creature existing on earth would fly straight over the heads of most viewers. Besides, it's a great design, and I like how they connected it to the tentacles earlier in the film.

  • @SPRLDR Actually, seeing on screen nothing but a leg extending into the clouds would leave me in awe

  • @Eparabola

Well i dont think we could co exist with the thing in this movie regardless of whether its as big as its supposed to be lol

  • @Eparabola Maybe this one is just it's baby...

  • @Eparabola I like this one, that one seems a little unrealistic...

  • @Eparabola Hear, hear. Its body really shouldn't be visible. Still, I do remember thinking, "ahhhhh, good enough" while watching this scene. Its spooky. The music is moody. Its fine.

  • @Eparabola Well i got exactly that idea you comment from the book when i saw this scene. Literature and films are different, the director has a limited canvas to paint his imagery. He doesn´t reproduce exact proportions but he does instead a good use of music and slow motion with a common purpouse. I think the scene is beatifully made and does the job. Would have work the same scene with only legs on screen?

  • @Eparabola dummy that's it's baby toe

  • @Eparabola

    I liked it

  • @Eparabola true but what is this isnt the biggest monster? there might be more that u only c the legs

  • @Eparabola Yea, because you can totally achieve that in a film. You do realize that what you are talking about is pretty much impossible, even with today's technology, right? It's not "botched" if it's impossible to do it "Correctly".

  • @Eparabola but it worked for me, i was already thinking that there is no hope because its huge and its probably not the only one of those walking around, and maybe even one of the smaller ones.

  • @Eparabola nah thats big enuf..

  • @Eparabola Why wouldnt the planet be the same if this creature were its original height

  • @Eparabola cinematically it's better to see the entire creature. If you just saw a big huge wide limb in front of you, chances are you'd think it's a freaking tree, and not the leg of some giantic creature... I mean, I get the point and on paper sounds like a good idea but it doesn't work on the screen

  • NO!

The director completely botched this scene. 1000 percent. The whole idea in the book is that this creature is so tall that our planet can never exist as it once did. • I do adore how they just shrug off the 500 foot tall monster and just continue driving.

  • must i watch this movie?????

  • @bracsa4 yes!

  • @bracsa4 Its the best movie i've seen so far, it brought me to tears!

  • I love the whole film but thought it was a bit silly that after 2 days normal people are about to kill a child and rather then help him save the soldier the other good guys held the main charicter back. However the ending is absolutly amazing and left me thinking about it for weeks.

  • They need to send scar face on this over grown cock-a-roach

  • Hmm i wonder if this is the creature that puts it's tenticles through the door at the start of the film. Though it would mean allot of bending over :P

  • @fecto3210 XD

  • It may have left on it's own, back to the parallel universe it came from when the mist faded. Since it didn't attack the car, it may have been the one peaceful creature in the film. One of those gentle beasts that can't help being the biggest and most frightening, or something like that.

  • @masterofrandom16 I respectfully disagree. I think that like the mutant spiders, it just couldn't smell them since they were in the vehicle. I get the idea that every creature that came out of the mist was predatory.

  • @masterofrandom16 that thing is NOT peaceful, its a Great Old One and They are not peaceful. Ry'leah must have risen for a lil bit, letting This One out.

  • singer is LISA GERRAD !

  • How cool would such a tall monster in a computer game -particularly ego shooter- be? :D

  • I wouldn't mind dieing or being ripped apart by some monster, if I only got to catch one glimpse of that huge monster. Imagine such beings really existing. Life would become a whole lot more interesting. ;3

  • One part of me is like, "That is utterly beautiful..." but another part of me goes, "God damn it, where's Master Chief when you need him?"

  • That's one huge cockroach :D

    Great movie though :)

  • @razorrulzz :P

  • I think if I saw that thing walking down the street, that's about the time I'd shoot myself. screw it.

  • @ThinDiezel Naaaah Man kind could put up a good fight vrs this. Besides i would want to see if there was a bigger one!

  • DAMN NATURE YOU SCARY!!!

  • @mealex6013 look em motherfucker run! if something come near my house ill kill it!

    aint that right?:P

  • @mealex6013 XD
