Right now, you can buy Morgan dollars for a lower premium above spot prices than silver eagles. I would say Morgan dollars are a lower-risk investment in silver, since the premiums tend to be higher when silver is low.

One of a very few nice coins minted by the U. S. Mint. The new coins are for the most part real junk, like most other things made by the government. The new panny? Pure crap. The new quarters are a joke. Last year the mint didn't even produce the Silver Eagle proof coin. Very sad.

I had an American Silver Eagle. They were not that expensive back then, but one ounce of pure silver is near $19. When I got that coin, it costs me $8 in 2001. Those are the third greatest coins, behind the Peace and the greatest of them all, the Morgan.
