Good............... spit on those fucking Costa Rican fagots make them feel that they are not any better than any other Latin people. So, much for that fucking Costa Rican bs.
It's fine that so many viewers of your videos express their disagreement with you - locals and foreigners alike. But it's almost pathetic how much negativity and war-like resistance to your opinions arise. I suppose it's to be expected - well at least accepted. You guys (for reasons of YOUR OWN) have moved there. You did it! So ultimately, it doesn't really matter that some people are so conditioned to take offense at any viewpoint that doesn't blend well with theirs. Cuidense hermanos!
Sorry ... I forgot to mention that she showed up at our front door with her utility bills that she claimed were ours. We were like, "um, these are dated two months before we moved in" ... she still insisted they were ours and demanded money. When we refused to pay her bills, she grabbed them and stormed off. that was a nice day ... great way to relax in at home in "paradise" ... it's outrageous behavior. But you know, Pura Vida!!!!! ;-)
So be careful down here! She saw us coming and thought she was going to get a nice big chunk of money. It really is amazing how well they can lie right to your face. However, it's also sad. We found the right place this past week though so we still love it here.
At 4:45 minutes. We've been here for 3 mos and had the same exact experience with a Costa Rican woman.Totally lied to our face, ripped us off, then came up and hugged us both.Luckily we saw this video and read a lot of information on moving here and protected ourselves for the most part. She only got a couple extra hundred bucks from us, whereas, originally she asked us for 3K up front! Some of them are thieves and liars.
Boo-hoo... If they don't want nicas overthere they should be more strict with their immigration laws... Everybody that leaves their country is looking for better opportunities ..americans, nicaraguans, ticos... It's just the way it is... Anyways they don't say how they get cheap labor and how they mistreat them calling them cAra de barro etc..
Costa Rica's problem with illegal immigrants (likely from Nicaragua) is probably the reason for the strain on their health care system. Unfortunately, who can blame the NicaraguansA? Their goverment officials would just as soon see them die...more money to line their pockets with.
Thanks for your great and very mature reply. You are so right. What shall we do with these few...Oh and I may be old, but I am NOT a stinky gringa lol.
Well I love these guys and after 10 years of living in Tanzania, sorry, but while it is certainly not ALL Ticos, I have been here 4 months and every damn month a local tries to rip me off for something. And I am here to teach your children for free! Yell at your Tico brothers...they are giving the rest of you a bad name! Dont worry, I have no trouble yelling at Americans when they act like idiotas!
O yea that is fucking genius! your guest in this video is implying ticos all r waiting at the airport for the old, stinky gringos, to wack them on the head for $40 bucks. Tourism is tourism, have u ever been to Disney world or any of the parks major parks in the U.S.? $85.00 just to get in! that doesn't include the $12.00 burger or the $8.00 hot dog. But lets cut the crap, we all know your in CR to smoke all the pot, snore all the cocaine, because u dont want to pay taxes back in the U.S of A.
I'm from Costa Rica and not everybody is hitting the gringos for money, i hate how these guys generalize. Not everybody is groveling down here, to win favor with some old, stinky, gringo who god only knows, why he is in Costa Rica. Maybe that lady saw your stupid face, and thought to herself, " si este es un gringo imbecil de Canada". What about how immigrants get treated in the US day in, day out, getting paid shit while many Americans get rich on them.
@mgg4431 Yo, who said, "everybody"? We 're just talking here from experience and observation and passing on those perspectives. That's all. Oh, and just because I think it's ironic, the guy I'm talking too, Will, his IQ is on the high-end of genius. And as far as you're last comment, that's another VIDEO, so why don't you make it?
how about spending , like 4 months in costa rica yearly. playing the snowbird game. what advise would you give us people. like how to get living accomodations and like which part of the country you would recomand us to start out.
I got tired of being charged 10x more than the locals for services in all the Latin America countries I've been to. Because I know Spanish and know the game I payed $5 for a taxi from the hotel to the airport and another gringo payed $60 because he didn't know the scam.
Warning to those who decide to apply for Pensionado status. Scotiabank in Costa Rica charges $40. to receive a simple $1,000 money wire from a Scotiabank in Canada. Plus you also pay in Canada for the wire. We pay a total of $55. per month for a $1,000 money transfer between two Scotiabank branches. This works out to paying $660. per year, to transfer a total of $12,000 "totally insane". Showing $1,000 per month going into a Costa Rica bank is mandatory for Pensionados.
Costa Rica is a country of PigAnimals that steal when your back is turned, go through your luggage and hotel room when your gone and take everything you own. Protecting the environment is the least on their list, they sale tours and hunting trips along the beaches to diminish the Sea Turtles and other ocean wild life. Low life scumbags that fill a nation with morons and thieves.
4:00 WHAT? HUH? I've traveled to 20 countries and lived in 5 of them. CR is NOT cheap. In fact, I spent more there than I did in Chicago!!!!...It is definitely in the top 5 for most expensive places I visited.
.....
Almost $3 for a fucking can of tuna??? .79 in the U.S. And Ecuador is closer to CR, where most tuna is from!
This country is crap, the night life sux, the roads sux, the transport sux, the people sux and there is lot of racism there, but there is also some nice people as well, the crime is really bad, you can't go out too late cause you might get robbed. So they got some bushes, we got some bushes as well as big as the entire Costa Rica. You are talking it up as if it was a big thing, let me tell you is not, I'll take Asia or South America any day over this, never going back there again.
@iCostaRica24 that's fine but still a shit hole and you can't change that...like everybody in here I am entitled to my opinion..I visited this country and many others, I was there four months, you would be crazy to go and live there, just for those people who are thinking to retire there, you better get the best insurance you can get, to fly you back to the USA or wherever if happen to get sick, because their health system there is almost bankrupt.
@viewsonicplastic2222 You can have an opinion,,but it is not valid,,,saying it is a 'shit hole' is like me saying the US is because of places like Detroit....... and obviously you had a bad experience, but just because you did, doesn't mean everyone does.....Costa Rica has it's issues like any other country..... but it is definitely worth consideration.....
@viewsonicplastic2222 Your comments about the health care system are simply incorrect. You might as well have said that the surgery is performed by monkeys on crack, because you're just wrong. It is affordable and accessable and it beats the US system hands down. Most HMO's are now shipping patients down here for procedures. I get that you had a bad time, but there's no need to be making things up. Good luck on your next trip.
@casadecostarica I don't know where you get your info from, if you read this article reported on Tico Times: Costa Rica's public health system in critical condition Posted: Friday, April 15, 2011 - By Rommel Téllez .It was reported that their health system "La Caja" is running at a deficit.I also they are trying to do "Medical Tourism" if that is what you are referring to, obviously to raise money. Unlike you I don't talk out of my ass and if u want to be operated by monkeys, good luck.
@viewsonicplastic2222 Insults like "talking out of your ass" tell people not to take what you're saying too seriously; people often resort to insults when they can't make their point. The fact is that every single expat I've spoken with has had praise for health care here; quality care with dignity at a fraction of what they'd have spent at home... in many cases at no cost whatsoever.
@viewsonicplastic2222 Running at a deficit does not mean broke. It means that the medical system requires more money to operate than it brings in.,, what with NOT being a proffit center for fat cat HMOs! Unlike the US, Costa Rica doesn't spend an amount equal to its federal tax on wars in 3 countries. They shut their army down decades ago and redirected those funds into health care and education. The gov't funds medicine, keeping it affordable. Shocking what you can afford with no army!
@casadecostarica I said almost bankrupt, it don't matter, that deficit is a huge deficit for a small country like CR. And it's up to people if they want to take me serious or not, like I said if they want to know what is really happening there, read their newspapers and they can make up their own minds, it is certainly not the so called paradise, that they try to sell to the tourists.
why they don't mention about all the stealing? I lived there a few years, and very local style and had very few issues, but there is so much stealing everywhere, I went from M.A. to Montezuma with a local tico who lives in Montezuma, he is tall has tats and long hair and he told me to always watch your bag, once there was a diversion right after he got on the bus, he turned his head, his bag was passed out the window and another guy took off with it instantly, this stuff happens all the time.
@toprobone We have a LOT of videos about theft and crime in Costa Rica..... and how to cut your odds of getting your stuff stolen... Plus, this guy, William, hasn't had any problems with theft, so that's why he didn't mention it
@toprobone William here, I tell people all the time that there are three sports in CR: Sex, Soccer and Stealing ha ha. Seriously though, Mike is right; while there is petty theft here for sure, it is still a safe coountry to travel in. If you have two brain cells to rub together and use a bit of common sense, then you'll never have a problem with it.
MMM, you see, I have places for rent in San Jose for $220, and the average contract is for 2 years, but if you use the place for less than 6 month the price is higher, if is for 3 months it will be the double at list, even if you are from marsh. Most of the tico know that and is in “Ley del inquilinato”(Renting law)I hope this will prevent some miss understanding.
Excellent interview and cautionary notes. Having spent a fair amount of time in CR, I know that it is a wonderful country but gringos are seen as walking ATMs.
Nice Michael! All good advice from an expat. We just got back from our 25th anniversary trip to CR for 11 days and your video's with Diangelo were invaluable!! Thanx!
