Anyway, I'm looking for a goooood cooker, I mean, a rice cooker and perhaps when its boiling away, I'll take a break with Ms ínteruptus, so, no interuptions from ANYONE... until the rice is done... it feels good to have a good cooker!!

  • 40minutes of World of Warcraft later. Your hot

  • I somehow ended up with a whole lot of undercooked brown rice all to myself. Two cups of rice, filled water to the 3 cup line... Maybe I did not use the "scientific" proved rice cooker?

  • @tiankun79 that's too bad. Very hard to tell what happens. Have used a few different types of rice cookers and the 1 part brown rice to 1.5 cups water has always worked.

  • @tiankun79 you should use 2 1/2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. comes out just right!

  • @tiankun79 you should use 2 1/2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. comes out just right! Not all dry and uncooked

  • I love yer eyeshadow!

  • Hilarious!!!

  • 1- no salt in the rice cooker.

2-add the rice after the water boils.

3-brown rice should be rinsed in water for 4 to 6 hours .

  • You failed to mention that rice should be rinsed well prior to putting it in the cooker.

  • great job.A 1 vid .ever do the bread in the rice cooker .thxs

  • Extra points for world of warcraft reference.

  • brown rice is the best, to bad i cant cook it right. you are cute and funny.

  • Wouldn't it be smarter to just have 3 cups of water in that jar thingie you had the water in? would look more cool to like, swoosh and in the water go!

I dunno, its nighttime and im tired..

  • you are so cute and funny, lol. I wished you had showed the rice after cooked, stir it to show how it really looks.

  • I may seem stupid or something but I have been putting 3 cups of brown rice and 3 cups of water in my rice cooker for about a year now! I just figured that was the way brown rice was supposed to be you know "crunchy"! I'm glad I stumbled accross this video maybe if I put 5 cups of water for 3 cups of rice I can actually enjoy some cooked rice!

  • i like her. shes quirky.

    and plays wow

  • so true

  • "Didnt know I was also a scien-TIST" Are you a hillybilly or something...?

  • "I didn't even need to use it really." LOL!

  • no caption ahhh pls add caption since i am deaf.. thks i enjoy watch it..

  • Ah, I am waiting on my brown rice and wondered how long it was going to take. Thank you. I wanted to share- brown rice is really yummy when cooked with chicken broth.

  • learn how to not cook rice on my channel, my vide is called stodgey rice and CHEESE!

  • lol cheat sheet

  • hahahah so funny!!! LADIES AND GERMS!!

  • Can someone explain why I get so many bubbles when I cook brown rice? What can I do to cook better brown rice?

  • Tell me more. What is the outcome like? Bubbles in the rice cooker are not necessarily bad.

  • Well, the rice doesn't come out right, and I end up with a big mess when the rice is done cooking due to all the bubbles. I don't have any problems with white rice. Maybe I need to use more water?

  • rice is watery? crispy?

Follow the instructions in the video. If you put in 2 cups of brown rice, put in enough water to get to the 3 cup water line on the side of the cooker.

  • The rice comes out kinda crispy. I'll try adding more water as suggested. Thanks!

  • What's the brand of rice cooker? I love the fact that your rice cooker is made of stainless steel. any issue being that it's stainless steel such as sticking?

    Thanks,

    Gordon

  • Miracle rice cooker. Doesn't stick but a little harder to clean. I like the more natural materials against my food - not plastics...

  • lol she is funny...thanx for the info i actually ate brown rice today and its actually better then white rice.=D

  • lulz

  • hi, did you soak the rice before putting it in the cooker or did you just remove it from the pack and put it in the cooker?

  • Hi joshrain1,

Bought it in bulk and put it in the cooker dry before adding water. No soaking. If you wanted to soak it that's be okay, the procedure would require less water, less time.

    Cynthia

  • Hello Jane.

I saw your video i'm cooking brown rice for my mom. I'm gay and i just have to say you are very pretty! I Love your earings:) Glad you have a sense of humor! LOL P.S. I will forgive you for the cheat sheet! Thank you for teaching me about brown rice! You Rock! Thank you and greetings from Chicago!

  • you are awsome and hilarious..thanks for the great video!

  • That did not teach me much. I don't have a rice cooker. I need to know the ratio of water to rice that you need to add, how long to cook it, on what heat and she mentions none of that...

    Poor video :(

  • TomFly83.

To simmer rice put 1 cup brown rice with 2 cups of water and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Bring to boil. Lower heat to simmer and cover. Don't touch it or stir it. Cooking time will take about 40+ minutes. When ALL water has been absorbed (check by tipping the pan) remove lid and let rest 10 min. before serving.

  • That's the info I've been looking for :)

It would have been great if it was in the video. Thank you :)

  • that's why it says how to cook brown rice in a "RICE COOKER" in the title

  • Our web site has the complete recipe posted beneath each video.

  • that was funny.

  • By the time I was halfway through watching this video, I was hoping it was going to suprise me and turn into a porn!

  • just rice.

  • LOL!!! "40 minutes of world of warcraft later" last thing i expected you to say

  • This woman is hilarious! Is her name Cynthia?

  • Her character is named "Jane".

  • You're very funny!

  • Thanks for your quick reply! I discovered Annemarie Colbin's books a few months ago, but found it not to easy to get my kids (6 and 4) equally enthousiatic as myself. I recently got your Feeding the whole Family, and with using things from all of these books, I am already doing a lot better in getting them to like the food I cook! And your video's are great fun!

  • how does a rice cooker determine how long it should work, you don't mention that you set the time somewhere? Or does it just continue till the water is all evaporated, and therefore you add more water? White rice needs shorter time I presume.

  • The rice cooker senses when the water has been absorbed and switches from cooking mode to warming mode. The white rice does take less time but with the rice cooker you don't need to worry about cook time.

    Cynthia

  • that is very funny, lets see if it is really cooked!

  • Cook that rice Jane!
