Hahaaaa... I just had a bellyache fretted with laughs at her scientific performance...LoL Well, one thing 4sure, she's NOT Palin..hahaaa. (I wud luvvvv 2C cookusinteruptus'' legs though... may I??? ) luv watching and sizing them starting with their legs first..
Anyway, I'm looking for a goooood cooker, I mean, a rice cooker and perhaps when its boiling away, I'll take a break with Ms ínteruptus, so, no interuptions from ANYONE... until the rice is done... it feels good to have a good cooker!!
I somehow ended up with a whole lot of undercooked brown rice all to myself. Two cups of rice, filled water to the 3 cup line... Maybe I did not use the "scientific" proved rice cooker?
@tiankun79 that's too bad. Very hard to tell what happens. Have used a few different types of rice cookers and the 1 part brown rice to 1.5 cups water has always worked.
Wouldn't it be smarter to just have 3 cups of water in that jar thingie you had the water in? would look more cool to like, swoosh and in the water go!
I may seem stupid or something but I have been putting 3 cups of brown rice and 3 cups of water in my rice cooker for about a year now! I just figured that was the way brown rice was supposed to be you know "crunchy"! I'm glad I stumbled accross this video maybe if I put 5 cups of water for 3 cups of rice I can actually enjoy some cooked rice!
I'm Dumb cooked brown rice came out kind crunchy. wondered why looked it up watched this video, Now i know brown rice needs more H2o than white rice. and knowing is half the battle. thanks.
Ah, I am waiting on my brown rice and wondered how long it was going to take. Thank you. I wanted to share- brown rice is really yummy when cooked with chicken broth.
Well, the rice doesn't come out right, and I end up with a big mess when the rice is done cooking due to all the bubbles. I don't have any problems with white rice. Maybe I need to use more water?
Follow the instructions in the video. If you put in 2 cups of brown rice, put in enough water to get to the 3 cup water line on the side of the cooker.
What's the brand of rice cooker? I love the fact that your rice cooker is made of stainless steel. any issue being that it's stainless steel such as sticking?
Bought it in bulk and put it in the cooker dry before adding water. No soaking. If you wanted to soak it that's be okay, the procedure would require less water, less time.
I saw your video i'm cooking brown rice for my mom. I'm gay and i just have to say you are very pretty! I Love your earings:) Glad you have a sense of humor! LOL P.S. I will forgive you for the cheat sheet! Thank you for teaching me about brown rice! You Rock! Thank you and greetings from Chicago!
That did not teach me much. I don't have a rice cooker. I need to know the ratio of water to rice that you need to add, how long to cook it, on what heat and she mentions none of that...
To simmer rice put 1 cup brown rice with 2 cups of water and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Bring to boil. Lower heat to simmer and cover. Don't touch it or stir it. Cooking time will take about 40+ minutes. When ALL water has been absorbed (check by tipping the pan) remove lid and let rest 10 min. before serving.
Thanks for your quick reply! I discovered Annemarie Colbin's books a few months ago, but found it not to easy to get my kids (6 and 4) equally enthousiatic as myself. I recently got your Feeding the whole Family, and with using things from all of these books, I am already doing a lot better in getting them to like the food I cook! And your video's are great fun!
how does a rice cooker determine how long it should work, you don't mention that you set the time somewhere? Or does it just continue till the water is all evaporated, and therefore you add more water? White rice needs shorter time I presume.
The rice cooker senses when the water has been absorbed and switches from cooking mode to warming mode. The white rice does take less time but with the rice cooker you don't need to worry about cook time.

2-add the rice after the water boils.
3-brown rice should be rinsed in water for 4 to 6 hours .
