For all of us here that grew up with this show as kids in the late 80's and early 90's, why on earth don't they put this on DVD? I mean I loved watching SQ1TV because math was and still is my favorite subject.
My favorite skits where the "Mathnet" portions at the end of each episode but I also loved the "Let's Make a Deal" knock off they did(I think that was called "But who's Counting" if I'm not mistaken)
I thoroughly enjoyed this show when I was a kid and I wish they would show it again cos I know I'd watch it if it got brought back
I miss This show i remember watching this on my 13 inch black & white tv in my room when I was in first grade in 1991. I wish they would bring this back to t.v.
Back when I was young, I used to think the drum solo in the middle of this song was the neatest thing. I would always be banging on the nearest object with the beat.
@tvtimetravel I had the Friday credits on tape but it's probably damaged. And even if it wasn't, it has some "distractions" during the credits(ie. Comacast channel display, etc). Plus there's the matter of getting it on my DVD, and uploading it here.
I totally miss this show. It helped me with math concepts. I wish they would bring this back along with Newton's Apple, The Electric Company, and Read- a-long. It's really sad how the educational value in shows has gone away.
Sorry but that's a pathetic ripoff of the original. It's just like Hollywood doing remakes of original, classic films and failing miserably. I tried watching a full episode and just got turned off. Between the Lions is MUCH better than that farce.
PLEASE!!!! tell me why they dont make good educational shows anymore! these are the kinda shows that got me into math and history....and have now leaded me into majoring in accounting at college
The problem is that there's not as much support for shows like this anymore, and it's not entirely the government's fault. They're asking why people who claimed these shows did so much for them still don't know that the word is "led" and not "leaded".
This show along with Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? was good for those people who were in late elementary school or at the beginning of middle school.
PBS doesn't really have anything for that age group anymore. They focus entirely on early childhood. Square One, 3-2-1 Contact, Ghostwriter, In the Mix...there was a period where they were going after the 8-14 range (to put it broadly), but I guess that audience just went elsewhere over the years.
Wow. I Remember Watching This Show. This Was One Of My Favorite PBS Shows. Besides Captain Kangaroo (R.I.P of the actor that played the orginal one), Mister Roger's Neighborhood (R.I.P Fred Rogers). 321 Contact, The Letter People, Newron's Apple, Sesame Street, Bill Nye The Sciance Guy, And OWL TV.
I LOVE Sqaure One TV, I use to watch this along w/its sister shows Sesame Street, The Electric Company, 3-2-1 Contact, Ghostwriter (The PBS Years) and also other shows like Captain Kangaroo, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, OWL TV, Wonderworks, Reading Rainbow, Bill Nye The Science Guy and even Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
and BTW, this show was on when Classic Concentration, Full House and A Different World were on the air along with Soul Train and America's Top 10 w/Casey Kasem.
And of course, Electric Company never had a show-within-a-show like SQ1 had. Mathnet's tone could get surprisingly urgent considering all the silliness that surrounded it. XD
EC went off the air when I was barely even talking----if YouTube hadn't happened to pop up, I wouldn't know anything about it other than that it was a show that once existed.

Can you post one with the full Friday credits from the first season?

They have brought back The Electric Company. It's not EXACTLY the same, but it's still a good show with the same ideas.

@abcfan72 They DID bring back The Electric Company! Except that they have new characters and new sketches!

@abcfan72 I believe The Electric Company is back on in a new format.

I looked forward to Mathnet as a kid. Probably the only reason I watched this.

I seem to remember Square One for some awkward reason, despite it being short-lived in my own viewpoint. Don't know about you, though.

Kinda. The only real difference was this show dealt solely with math while the Electric Company dealt with reading skills and grammar.

Not sure. It might have been one of the cast/crew members.

It WAS a cast member; Cynthia Darlow to be exact.

@KikiG1rl Cynthia or Luisa would by my first guesses.
