Thank you so much for putting this up. I have been looking to learn this song for awhile, and the open chord chorus with that 001102 chord is spot on. People if you look at the Germany 85 concert you can see Daniel has it correct.
My only request is if you could do a full version with vocals, so I could play along without having to tune down (per the original). But I can see you are a busy guy so I wont hold my breath. Thanks again.

Thanks for the post my friend. I love to sing Micheal's vocal part. Your version is a little speeded up so the track has a live feel to it. Very fun to sing. Again, thanks !!!
I reckon it is a Gm7 (xx1102). Then you pull off the 2nd fret of the high E. I have checked out a live version and I am pretty sure this is the right chord. Only used in the intro as far as I am aware.
scrub that last comment re it only being used in the intro. Great cover by the way. And all the other REM and Smiths stuff. And a great collection of guitars! Keep it up.
One of the great joys of early R.E.M was the casual sloppyness of Peters guitar, married with Mikes phenomenal 'lead ' bass lines.I miss those bass lines, sob.
Fanfuckingfastic! That's my one word review. I never knew how great a rickenbacker bass sounded until now! It helps that you play it really well. One of REM's best songs!
Damn good on the guitar, and bass is pretty good [although not entirely accurate to Mills, I think your effort is really passable]. You have got the chord shapes dead on, especially the G sharp minor which isn't a barre chord - I could never work that bit out.
it's funny how some people think peter buck picked up a rickenbacker as a result of johnny marr. when they actually released stuff before the smiths. and you can adapt to both of their unique styles! quite amazing.
I know what you mean. I've read biographies on both groups, and even though they were done by different authors with different perspectives, they seem to site R.E.M. or The Smiths somewhere in their works! Even though people like to think R.E.M. were "America's answer to The Smiths", they both had distinctly different influences and playing styles, needless to say though, Buck and Marr are amazing guitarists or the Rickenbacker school!
Wow I never thought you would actually listen to my request thanks! I've been playing the song myself with a capo on the third fret thanks for showing me another voicing Daniel.
I bought a 4003 recently, what do you recommend for an amp? i have an acoustic b200 which is great but better for my hofner sound

@trickponypins Nevermind, listening a little better I find that REM plays it standard tuning live (down 1/2 only on album)...So I can jam there....

Nicely done. Reckoning is one of their best albums.
Maybe next time a little "Life and How to Live it."

I really love your style on this song. You, sir, give a Rickenbacker a good home.

Although I do acknowledge that you're playing this too tight and succinct, I love it. It gives a variable of a sound for the song.
