mmmh. i liked it. but in my opinion it went down a little at "What about the people you stole from?" i think it says too much telling. that is the exact moment when my imagination stopped dead on track. I do like the fact that we dont know if the boy is alive or not. i guess knowing that the father might be just a robber takes away the gravity of it all.
@skinskope not necessarily, because it doesn't mean that he stole something tangible like an object... it seems to me that he's talking about stealing someone from the 'people', stealing their life, their joy, their beauty
Quite nice and good camera work. Well chosen actors. I think that the ending when he says "what about the people you stole from?" and the man reaches for the doughnut breaks the serealness and you don't float away like you did before. Overall though, a very strong short film with incrediable chances to make a quote
Legendary, incarcerated surfer Robby "Little Bull" Boyd struggles to explain the sacrifices he made over the course of a life lived in search of an elusive feeling of clarity. While Robby struggles to articulate just what that feeling was like, we watch his son Taylor experience it during a morning surf ritual.
there really is no secret to the video. that is what is men't by the video
It makes sense, he says jibberish, but watch the vid a second time, and pause when he speaks jibb, and try to think deeply what he's saying, the following is the storyline:
One foggy night, his son was alone, on his way to a routinic swim in the ocean, he enoys the sounds he hears, but dosent realise civillisation is far gone now, he is lost at sea, he is naturaly petrified and paranoid, and the feelings pass on to the father, who will never know where his son is. Bravo, a work of art.
@king6238 there's a lot of people who don't understand. The boy doesn't get lost out at sea! When they are among civilisation they can hear all the noises civilisation makes, things other people are used to therefore don't hear. When surfing they no longer hear the noises, they find peace. The description says Robby (the father) is incarcerated, in other words he's in jail. When the father (Robby) says "If I ever see my son again" he means when he gets out of jail, not because the boy is lost!!
Hi Guys, i am an aspiring filmmaker myself (still in college) but i believe i have got something new to share and if anyone could spare anytime to take a look at my channel, as every view means the world to me. thanks to anyone who reads this xx
It's not always a good thing, to be too focused on clarifying things and trying to decipher meaning from our lives. Trying too hard to reflect on what kinds of things really matter can lead to you overlooking those very things.
Prone to contemplation myself, and often just get lost in pointless abstraction.
Its a story all about how Robby "Little Bull" Boyd's life got flipped turned upside down and I'll like to tell you a-minute just sit right there, I'll tell you how I became the king of a town called bel-air
Another interpretation: the man is talking about being overwhelmed by civilization. Sounds in particular. He probably has social anxiety. Adrenaline was the only distraction that made him calm. He felt himself. They compared surfing with stealing and the son and his father.
My keyboard raps in my mind, the photocopier spits out pieces of tree my the second, the UV lights hum above my desk and the footsteps thud from the room beyond mine...all while my boss shrill cuts through not only the noise but my head.
@ichblibli haha seriously, that's how i feel about learning spanish. I guess it'd be odd to see someone fluently converse with someone until they go "what's a cow?" but seriously, foreign language classes should focus on more practical vocab, not vocab that aren't so necessary for understanding more important things
this is kinda crazy becouse i love hearing everything. like in the morneing i like to hear every bored, the wind bliwing, trees and each leaf the air brushes against....maybe im not on the same page but this is what it makes me think about
I agree that americans dramatize everything to much, I do it all the time. But there is something to be said about the ocean, its completely different then playing on a cement slab or in a stadium, even though both are great, but that and the ocean are completely different.
But even though this was goood It could have been better, It seems is Vibe that I got lost in Was his reason why he did what he did, even though it separates him from his son. But i think we still need to know what he did,
it could be because he is just stuck in the 70's OR he could really be just more intunned with whats more important. I like to think the latter.
@IIlIIIl can you please explain this mentality that only surfers seem to get... of being one with the sea, having a relationship with it etc etc, you don't hear ball players saying they feel a deep relationship to the court, being one with the basket. Sport is sport man, i hate hearing this philosophical bullshit about riding a carbonfibre board on a wave... its fun and a great lifestyle but people (americans in particular) dramatise everything way too much
@Stefan2SERB i some what understand the relationship between sufers and the ocean since i run long distance and i feel a conetion with the land you kind of get lost in this rhythem thats impossible to exspain and you can also feel modern society rhythem that is unatural and all you want to do is follow the rhythem of the earth because its so amazing and impossible its like the hole world is breathing idk i know i sound crazy
@Stefan2SERB isnt comparable with any other sport just because the sea its alive. its moving with you and you dance with it, and when you star making love with it, god.. waves are like women, each one is different and unique in its way, and you cannot judge them until you surf them! there's such a close relation with the soul of nature, damn you can really feel the spirit of the sea and communicate!!..hard to explain, you should try, everyone should! for the rest, i'm not american.at all..peace
