  • I like This Clip

  • I'm a huge fan, I hope to have the privilege of seeing you perform live someday ^^. Thank you for everything you do!

  • i wish the gameboy thing was still in it

    xxxxxxxxx

  • haha i loved the gameboy part so much! (9:25-ish to the end) It sounded so cute ^_^ I kinda wish it was on the final recording! haha but Tidal still a great song, anyway :P

It's so cool to see how she progressed and put together all of her songs; all of the changes and modifications, etc.. and it's also kinda fun to see what bits of her life are like. She's taken us on an awesome, wild adventure with lots of creative twists and turns :)

  • im amazed by you so magical! :)

  • the one y us on CGN was awesome

  • she is amazingly creative.......i luv her!!!!

  • bad. BAD CrO0ks666!!!!!! she is NOT a loser

  • that song at the end sounds awesome , whats it called ?

  • i love Imogen and Justine! you two are so funny!

  • Oh my god, you're amazing!

  • Aww why'd you take out the electric guitar in tidal?!

  • yeah I really like that riff. Plenty of material for special editions though :)

  • Imogen: I have been listening to your output over the last 2 years, and you have had a profound effect on me and my perspective, not to mention my dearest friends too!! We send our best wishes from me and my friends.. I'm sorry but we had to hijack Wonin6billions account, but he was pissed so we made the descision to do it :)) I think he likes you too!... damage limitation. lol. take care ;)

  • She's talking about harmonic overtones, which are amazing if you can do them right. Tuvan throat singing, it's also known as.

  • Those coloured light panels look so cool

  • I WONDER if she uses her voice like bagpipe impressions at time. with the droning..... clever if so.

dont matter I adore this woman.

  • Was the Game Boy sound taken out of the final version of Tidal? I've been listening to it from the website, and noticed that it wasn't in there.

  • The harmonics you are talking about on 6:30 is also known as throat singing that the Mongols are known for doing! :]

  • MMMMMNNNNEEEEEEEEE hahahaha that part made me laugh the most!!!!!!! Imogen you are so random and hilarious!!!!!!

  • hehe i love imogen heap ur awesome!!!

  • I'm a new fan of yours

    Love your music!!!!!

    :)

  • i see that imogean became a bit emotional at 6:20 maybe its the true meaning of the song imogean im not sure some told me its about family disasters or divorse or something im not sure for me i can see that it regards family and the way how children feel when parents fight im not sure could anyone tell me the real subject of the song

  • Wow. Immi, you're crazy mad bloody brilliant. I keep hearing these bits of genius you've got all saved up and I'm dying to hear the finished versions of everything...played all the way through...

I like the acoustic hide and seek with the drone, especially the part you changed up. Maybe you could squeeze it in somewhere?

  • She's seriously genius.

  • woah.. that is some talent!

    XD

  • WOW! Talk about Creativity! *claps*

  • Imogen... are you a closet gamer!? lol!

    ...But seriously, are you?

  • lol, did I hear "arigatou gozaimasu"? :D

  • yeah I think she's taking Japanese lessons... cant really get more awesome than this

  • <3 if that's true I'm really impressed :) I love Japan and I also learn Japanese :)

  • i'm trying to learn japanese as well :)

  • It's true! On a "Frou Frou" song called "close up", there's a part in there where I couldn't understand her, and what'dya know!? She's speaking Japanese there! Check it out!

  • lol same here! I use to actually improv it with a bit of Japanese because it sounded kind of like what Sesshoumaru (from Inuyasha) says on the first PS1 game. I forget what it was exactly, something like "Sokuma da na" or whatever he says (haven't played in years :P)

Now when I listen, it's totally obvious.

  • i hope so! Japan is my favourite country and im also learning Japanese!

  • how amazingly brilliant is she???

she had me at the game boy *ding*.... <3

  • i wanna hear "tidal"! guitar is great

  • Tidal sounds SO awesome, can't wait to hear the full version. <33 And I absolutely LOVE the ideas you come up with, how you use all these simple everyday things to make music. This is one of the many reasons your music really stands out, you're just so open to all sorts of possibilities.

    Rock on Immi <3

  • i love you!!!!!!!!!!

    im a young singer songwriter

    i love this music

    and i love engenniering

  • omg. i love the last song. the strings are awesome! :) that's so cool! i love you!

  • I'm calling tidal as the best song on the album. I really hope you keep the part in there that's playing when you fade to the footage of you on the exercise ball at the end of the video, I really love that part!

  • I hope she keeps that part of the song as well. And as a side note, I am really glad you wrote out "tidal" because this whole time I thought it was "title" hehe... or is it??

    Adrian Hotness

  • haha, it's tidal. check the tags on the videos if you're trying to figure out what song titles are ;) It took me a bit to realize it.

  • thanks

  • I thought the same thing haha

  • The album is going to be awesome!! Love all the various sound instruments and resonations.

  • I love you!

  • can't wait for tidal!!

  • Oooh, I Love the Gameboy chip sound!!!

  • It completed my life!

  • Imogen, you rule!!!!!

  • hey new album is gonna be fucking amazing! anyone know the name of the very last song that she played in the blog?

  • Tidal :)

  • New album that she is trying to get completed in Dec, probably to be released this coming spring.

  • i can't wait, i can't wait, i can't wait!! lol

  • Hide and Seek 2 is AMAZING.

Downloaded it off iTunes the first day it was released and have been listening to it nonstop.

    I love it.

  • can't wait to hear tidal! sounds amazing =]

i think it will be the best song =]

    yoor amazing immi =] xx

  • those harmonics in the drone are cool, did you think about using the jaw harp on it as well?

  • Ok so I know this is really random but I am trying to complete my list of Imogen songs and the only one I cant find is a collaboration she did with Sean Lennon. Does anyone know the name of the song? Any help would be great I am desperate!!!

    Thanks in advance,

    fayde

  • i like you :) very original :)

  • 9:19 sounds like the song "crash" from the jim carey movie soundtrack on dumb and dumber ~ listen to it before finalizing it mi dear.

  • Not in major... There's enough of a difference there. It's not that bad at all.

  • kinda, but not really.

  • i think tidal is going to be my favorite song. the guitar sounds awesome!!!

  • New Album Coming soon, Well I Hopes So!

  • i love watching these blogs!

    <3

  • Love the vlog. It's very cool of you to explain the song writing process... I'd feel naked showing anything incomplete.

  • Imogen...I liked hearing you voice without all of that electronic backing for the tibet album you should go "real" more often.

  • Oh my god you're crazy but I love it.

  • YOU ARE SO INSPIRING.

I LOVE HOW EXCITED YOU ARE all the time, lol! :)

  • Gameboy sounds FTW.

  • this vblog gets me so excited, you wouldn't believe. you have a way of giving enough away so that we all want it all now. you should bottle it. I'd by it.

    hurry number 28.

  • the guitar from "tidal" sounds really good. and the gameboy really does add a nice touch. dec/jan...can't wait!

  • Hmm, it now sounds like a good accompaniment for a little teapot time in India. I'm cautiously intrigued with the various rearrangements, like the "Mmm whatchu say" and so on... also reminded me of the Lipton Green Tea commercial that was aired in Canada (the one which had monks and commonfolk hum some country tune... hilarious!)

Keep it up immi! I'm actually creating a harmony of various renditions of 'Hide and Seek' that were sung by a cappella groups and amateurs. Peace, and pls add!

  • I always leave a long-winded comments on your blogs but perhaps I'll just post one that's simple and concentrates my feelings in a few words:

You're prodigious, brilliant, beautiful and often wonderfully ineffable. I love you!

  • /wishes Imogen Heap would do a Duo with Emmy Rossum, though I know it will never happen..

Both of you are amazing and Beautiful... You both have amazing personalities as well, though Immie could never be compared to anyone.

  • so is this new hide and seek single out now then? coz i've asked in some HMV's and a Fopp in London to no avail..

  • Dear Imogen,

Thank you for being such an inspiration. I have had many similar nights in the studio getting excited by sounds and songs. I am in the late stages of putting together 12 songs. I relate to what you are doing sooo much. I have met Rupert and he is such a wonderful soul as you seem to be. I saw you live once and have since started to use a loop station in my live show...its so coooool and fun. thank you so much for what you do. ciao Lisa Parade

  • your like the most creative brilliant person. ah love your music. Haha dude a game boy ahh thats genius.

  • I can't even express how much I love you and your music. You're so creative and inspiring. I don't know how many times I already said it but I: "Can't wait for the album to come out!"

Polyfila sounds promising and Tidal is simply the best) ...

And it's a great thing that you have a home-studio. I don't have one and I think I won't))) and that's bad because I love making music and sometimes it's hard to record some of the ideas.

    P.S. All the best!

  • The new ones are Polyfila and Tidal...

  • What a talent you are!!! Your blend of originality and accesability is just right. I look really forward to the new album. Hope you are going to record some real string orchestra on your album.

  • not now but soon, if you follow imogen on Twitter she just put an update about filming a vBlog today so it should be up soon

  • What can I say, the most stunning girl on planet earth !

    Love yah ! :)

  • What a fountain of sunshine you are. Can't wait for solo album #3.

  • I simply ADORE YOU! you are truly such a beautiful soul!

  • I love the song at the end!

  • Imogen your so talented it blows me away with every blog! and you play like every instrument! You really are so great! COME TO UTAH!!! we love you so much here!!!!

  • actually the first song she played (i cant understand the title) sounded a bit like her older stuff.

    like im talking iMegaphone days.

    but different.

she always has something new, something beautiful to bring in every song.

even when she's re-producing one [hide and seek].

    all for iMMi.

    keep working, rocking.

    love, a fan,

    aly.

  • intelligent and hot

  • I dunno if Imogen reads these comments, but just in case... I wonder if she's ever considered approaching someone like Annie Lennox and doing something new and out there (Annie's no longer tied to a label from what I understand). Imogen reminds me of Annie circa 1983. Annie and Dave were doing bizarre electrosynth stuff back then, and the sense of creativity and freedom must have felt similar for them. Seems like such a collaboration could be very fruitful.

  • I really love how open Imogen is to just grabbing a sound from anywhere and incorporating it into a track. So avant-garde! So free! It makes me want to go downstairs and lock myself up with my synth stack, guitar, and PC for a week.

  • Watching these videos inspires me. Imogen/You is/are so creative and has/have such an open mind about making music and its absolutely gorgeous and colorful. Nothing else is like this. I know of no other artist that uses unconventional sounds and pieces them together to make something that isnt only listenable but beautiful, cohesive art. And you seem like you're just having a tremendous ammount of fun doing it.

  • I just purchased Hide and Seek 2 and i love it, you rock Immi.

  • iLovU hahahaha! you're sooooo cuteee *_*

  • Hide and Seek 2 is great. sounds like Song to the Siren.

  • I love her imaginative use of items to produce music.

  • Amazing !!!

  • OMFG!!! I SOOOOOO cannot wait for this album to come out. I really do like the added gameboy 'ding' to it. That's so freakin creative and so totally sick.

  • Imogen is so amazing and talented! Can you sing a song for us on your blog!?!?!?!

  • lmao. you're so silly! XD

    <3

  • I once realized I couldn't be a musician because the lack of creativity, but thank good people like you exist :)

Love ur music, keep up the good work :)

  • Made a mistake there, "thank GOD" LOL

  • I think this is amazing, your amazing. But you might get sued, I know for a fact that the gameboy sound is protected under copy right laws from tokyo to the U.S. Just FYI. Can't wait for the new album though!

  • jesus immi you are a genius!!! i am forever your slave!!! woohoooo!!! i hart you! you actually inspired me to set a dead line for meyself too thank you so much for you music!!! your music is just amazing! ayt! peace and god bless!!!:p

  • imogen, you're so strange.

    I love it =]

  • Immi. It's rare that an artist can take one of their classic songs, one so timelessly etched in the listener's ear as is Hide&Seek....then revisit the song and bring out even more dynamic and soul..flesh it out beyond the original as you've done with Hide&Seek 2. It's a brilliant bit of work, yet at the same time doesn't lessen the effect of the original.

    Bravo Immi!!

  • Tidal sounds AMAZING! I cannot wait to hear the whole CD! Keep up the amazing work, whatever you come up with, I'm sure we'll all love it; especially seeing as all of the little snippets you've shown us are already spectacular! Thank you SO MUCH for your music and individuality!!

  • So THAT's what that noise is.... a sruti box. The Penguin Cafe Orchestra uses the drone of one of those in at least one of their recordings. (That I can think of off the top of my head...) Thanks for unintentionally revealing that mystery for me, haha. Really like the samples... can't wait to hear the album. :)

  • Camden? Camden, SOUTH CAROLINA?! O: Nooo wayy! Hahaha.

  • The guitar sounds beautiful Imogen and I am very very VERY looking forward to getting that album! Keep up the good work and don't stress yourself out too much; us fans will wait until you finish! Oooh, you're going to Maine this fall? I live in VA, but I might be planning a drive up there now...

    LOVE YOU IMMI HEAP!

  • Hmmm... October 23rd is my 40th birthday (yes, you have some geriatric fans, too), so keep up the pace :)

Nice thing you did for Rupert (and Tibet), been a fan of his since before you were born, I think.

  • You have no idea how amazing I think you are!!!

All I can say is I hope one day I can photograph you.

    xxx Arielle

  • What more can I say? I'm hooked I just can't stop listening! hehe, you never fail to inspire me and others. Thanks :D

  • simply amazing. simply.

  • I can't wait for your new album to drop! It's going to be a hit and so will each and every song. Your creativity is astonishingly memorizing!

  • You should get a bow that is used for a cello or double bass...and pull it along the cymbals your using for little bird..it makes a cool sound...

  • i just downloaded Hide and Seek 2 from itunes!

    IT IS A MUST-HAVE!

i love it soo much... i couldn't stop smiling while listening to it!

  • you're the cutest, most cheerful person ever :P

    love all your work.

I dont know how you could possibly get better :)

    xx

  • loving tidal!

did you notice the sound the exercise ball made when you hit it (sometime during the blog)?? - maybe it could find space in one of the songs in the new album :)

  • omg i love the ending when you go like "oh i just turned on my gameboy and it made:'pling' so i kept that~"

and i was like "really? o.o"

and its really that sound, in that song, great! XD

    you are inspiring =)

  • oh my gosh! tidal sounds absolutely BEAUTIFUL so far! I can't wait to hear more!!!!

  • I love Imogen so much =)

  • Your blog always makes me smile :) I love the new sound of Hide and Seek.

  • regarding the light panels.... if a bulb burns out, how easy is it to replace it?

  • Wow the way you use sound is inovative you know Immi you make it very hard to have everything sung by you to track down you do your own remixes you let everyone else remix your work you do many one shots and soundtrack stuff how in the world are we fans going have the compleat Immi collection?

  • WOW, i can truly say you are my favorite artist of all time! i am just so amazed at all the ideas that you get and incorporating that gameboy sound has got to be the most creative and random thing i have ever seen (heard). You truly are amazing and i love watching the blogs!

I hate the fact that i can never seem to fins your cd's in miami, FL at F.Y.E. but hopefully this new cd will be there on the first day! It sounds amazing. Thank you for all your creativity and the music you bring to us!

  • Wow. I am just stunned at how genius this woman is. And she seems so approachable and fun to be around! I've been in love with all of her songs for a very very long time, but I just found this now! How sad :/ Anyway, looking forward to a new CD!

  • you are a true genius

    :)

  • I love your hat, duckie! And the gloves and outfit are outrageously amazing!

  • Just chillin, watchin you on Indie 103 for the millionth time (btw wow on that set), and asked myself,"I wonder if she's posted another blog?"

I guess my luck was in :)

May God continually bless you and the fruit of your musical imagination....we all love you Immi, keep on keeping on!

Oh yeah!, when you gonna come play Liverpool? You'd sound awesome in the 'Phil'

  • Thanks so much for doing this...This is fantastic and fascinating!

  • Ahh, I was hoping that you had made another blog and you did - it just totally MADE MY DAY!

I must say, that the 'new' Hide and Seek is absolutely phenomenal! I want to listen to the whole thing like NOW! You tantalise my ears by only playing such a little part of it...

Pollyfilla sounds absolutely amazing! I love the sound of the lights... and that odd instrument you were swinging around...

    NEVER STOP MAKING MUSIC!!!

    *hugs*

  • Tidal sounds wicked!! :)

  • The music for Tidal is just delicious. Nice touch with the game boy, simple but smart.

  • Love the tune of the last song! Good luck with finishing your album!

Just a question: isn't January the worst time to release? Because the sales are down and it's after Christmas? I think that's with book sales, but I don't know about music :|

    xxx arianey
