Best version of this song: best arrangement,best mixage and even best vocal performance, surely better than Deep Purple's. Royal adopts that change of vocal colour in "early in the morning" part which probably makes all the difference. Unfortunately he sounds better if not seen.

Billy Joe Royal did a great job singing Joe South's Hush! It's a joy and honor that Joe South gave his personal blessing to AVM to record 'Hush'. Joe is an amazing songwriter and a wonderful person and friend. After hearing the AVM version for the first time he said, "It made the hair stand up on the back of my neck!" God Bless you, Joe!
