  • what keyboard do you use?

  • I learnt this whole song exactly how you play it from watching you hands and memorizing. i think I've forgotten it now because that was over a year ago but i thought i should let you know how brilliant you are at voicing chords and phrasing runs, i really enjoy your style. :)

  • ***Thank you so much for your great DVD***! Since I've heard your jazz improvisations on youtube, I decided to learn jazz piano. Would you mind if I would use some of the sheets from your DVD for recording and uploading a couple of demosongs on my website? I think it will take a long time till I'll be able to improvise like you, but your wonderful suggestions will point me in the right direction.

  • @virginiaanton No problem! Thanks for the comment. Doug

  • That one was actually quite fitful for "Baby Grand" with Ray Charles and Billy Joel. With a few changes it could actually fit rather clean thought.

  • But the one they play in house is muh better

  • This makes me want to learn jazz piano. I play guitar and sax but theres just something about a keyboard, its so jazzy and elegant

    cheers richard

  • Can i truly say that i really look up to you. You are really an inspirational individual, quite like a hero. I tried playing jazz, but never as good as you.

  • Oh my! This is something. Kind of emotional for me just to hear someone play like this. From a 56 year old beginner who should NOT have wasted 40 years not playing.

  • Thanks so much for this one Doug, I'm playing this for an audition (on guitar), and have spent so long practising it, that I kinda lost what the song was all about. Your playing really reminded me, the essence of beauty! You're incredibly skilled, but deeply expressive too. Always great to see!

  • Long live Yamaha digitals!!!

  • te mereces un "FAVORITO"!

  • You have to transcribe this, this is very well done.

  • I have - it is on the DVD I have made - see the address in the 'About This Video' above

  • awesome-ly played.. wish i got the time to go into your lessons. Thnx for posting these vids, its hard to find scores with explanations for a wannabe jazz pianist XD

  • We lost Oscar on Dec. 23rd. So sad. You're playing sure is soulful and eases the pain of Oscar's passing. Thanks for your dedication to your art.

  • at 1:46 please tell me the notes PLEASEE!!!!!

  • C, up to A, C, down to A, F, C, B (Basically an F Major triad)

    then

F, then up to Bb and D together,

    back down to F

then up to Ab and C together

slide off the Ab to A then down to F, C

Then B and F together, down to F below the B

then Bb and F together, back down to F

    then Ab and D together

Hope this helps - a transcription is on my DVD
