  • I wasn't even born...Could have been also in Ballart Goldmine !Good and sentimental lyric, too. Sad and meaningful !.

  • This song bring me so much nostalgia about my childhood.

It almost makes me want to cry . .

  • Kinda sound like the Beatles in this one

  • Firstly thankyu for the video, Sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it. Second to Robin, Don't give up just yet, keep fighting, i lost my ex wife to cancer, you caught yours not too late and this medicine man may be the cure, please dont give up, can't imagine a world with ya Robin, Keep Strong, if i could send ya good vibe, this it it, Do not let it beat you, we lv ya

  • My friend Alex and I laugh about the line "have you seen my wife Mr. Jones?"

  • ......when the guitar strumming hits that chord with the bass at 1:06, oh man-oh man...how the beautiful essence of these brothers runs through your veins (at least for me). Great song....magical group.

  • @jbyesterday muy cierto muy cierto

  • @jbyesterday It's 2 chords and i completely agree, sends chills down ya back those small changes, G power chord slide to F power chord, PERFECT! i have only seen them once, oh lord how i wished i had got another chance. Beautiful Songwriters/musicians & singers, an amazing song based o a true event, only the bee gees could come up with this

  • To MrRonnieG. Onya mate. From the old Aussie.

  • Necro!

  • Really, sensational ! Thanks for ... remember me !

  • THIS is the first recording I can remember listening to, by the Bee Gees. The year was 1968 and this song was coming thru my '57 Chevy's AM radio, loud & clear. Memories of a lifetime ago..............

  • @MrRonnieG My earliest memories include the BeeGees (born in 1967) My Momma taught me to appreciate music from a very young age.

  • Fantastic boys ahead of their time with a style all their own, timeless classics.

  • this was beatle influenced still great though

  • @rj689

Don 't think so. It's the style of the era. Both the BeeGees and the Beatles are a product thereof.

  • @rj689

I think the groups influenced each other..I am pretty sure of that

  • chumbawamba did it betterr..way better

  • Pre disco Bee Gees was the best!

  • @jbeng1953 I agree!

  • @jbeng1953

I totally agree on that...The sixties sound of the Bee Gees is so much better than the

    Saturday Night Fever/Grease stuff..

  • I'm only a thought in my parents head and i like the bee gees :D

  • One of the first songs I learned on the guitar...Love it.

  • Those 12 people who disliked this REALLY need to learn what true music is.

  • Im a sperm and i like the bee gees :D

  • Maurice looks really cute on the cover of this album. I like the earlier BG's stuff, everyone remembers them for disco, and they often overlook these classics.

  • I'm half sperm half egg and I love the Bee Gees!

  • well its funy that the song is about a new york disaster NEW YORK DESAStEr... I SWEAR TO GOD WHEN I HEARD ABoUT NINE 11 ELEVEN I TOTALLY DIDNt THINK ABOUT YOU HOW U SAID SHE LIVES THERE... I NEVER FULLY UNDERSTOOD THE TEXT... but i always understood what once existed must be dead and it was so poetic and nnow its so sad without neda..and im not even worth a photo of her??? EVEN SO I LOVED HER FOR OVER 10 YEARS???

  • man i wish i had a photograph of neda to look at it while hearin this song

  • I'm older than the dirt I sleep in and I love the Bee Gees

  • 0:45 VIVA NECRO!

  • Definately a great band.

  • im a tiny little sperm still in the sack and ive loved the beegess since my swimming days began

  • Bee Gees are amazing ! Today's 'music' sucks - especially ALL Rap !

  • Thats the Manx guys for you. Brilliant!

  • The first time i heard this song was on my mom's old 45's it has got to be one of my favorite Beegees songs ever

  • Does it get any better? Wow.

  • i 4 yars old ad i hate bee gees

  • @SupositoryRepository I would fiercely insult you if you weren't only _4_ years old. I liked these guys since I was 12 which was in 2005.

  • Probably the only group that could sound like the early Beatles.

  • @jackk17263 Really! The first time I heard it I thought they were the Beatles, and even today I cannot comprehend the similarity.

  • Wonder what inspired them to write about this mining disaster some 26 years earlier?

  • @MIKECNW Because European kids are much more socially conscious than their American counterparts. Can you imagine a USA group coming up with a song like "Oliver's Army" or "Go straight to Hell Boy?"

  • @boazrg Boy you're stupid. To make a comparason of thos song and another called "Go streight to hell."

  • Necro-Underground

  • I was aborted...I didn't get a chance to hear this song.

  • I am twelve also and I LOVE the Bee Gees! lol people at school thing im a bit strange but i dont care their music is beautiful

  • @TheOliviaJuice

    Thank you,

I'm 55 , but you have a great taste in music!

  • I don't know the whole story but the N. Y. mining Disaster is based on a true story and I don't think the miners made it, but could be wrong this is one of my favorites as well;

  • So empathetic

  • dunno how old i am... too ghetto for that.

  • can someone tell me * i thaught there was no coal mine in New York , and certainly not a disaster .But it s one of my favorite songs by the Bee Gees , there were in 67 and 68 the best

  • @walter4092

What I read is they wrote after the Aberfan disaster in Wales- they may have titled it that way because Aberfan was still too raw for the British people at the time.

  • @hoosierdaddy75 that s possible thkx

  • One of my fave BeeGee songs ever <3

  • LMAO I heard when people heard the song they actually thought it was a Beatles song since they misinterpret BG for Beatles Group LOL!

  • @skeaneable That is funny! Wow, never heard that one! When this one came out, we knew who sang it...but the song, "Come and Get It" by Badfinger in 1970, was mistaken for the Beatles by many...all great music! Beatles Group...lol! Still laughing at that one...thanks:)

  • I'm 14 and I've loved beegees since I was 5! :) Great band love them~

  • I'm one year old and i love the bee gees!!!oooo i just wet my nappies!!!

  • The guy on the mid-right looks like George Harrison, and the guy on the right looks like Pete Best

  • Too short, I know, but they all were in the 60's. Made up for it w/ quality production.

  • It's a pity that many songs are so short... still good song.^^

  • @FaithsTigress As is with many songs by the Police. The brevity is actually part of their greatness. You want more, but what you get is just the right amount.

  • im just born and i love beegees

  • my dad was a miner.

  • im a fetus and i love the bee gees!

  • @The204nation lmao

  • I grew up with Bee Gees, ABBA, Queen, Beatles, Michael Jackson, ... their music is soooo great! I never wanted the Spirit of Rock, Pop and Classic Rock 60s -90s disappear...

  • i was wrong the bee gees their first hit was spick and specks , that song i do not found and was not for sale in our country

  • @walter4092 Spicks And Specks was never really a hit in the UK, it was in Australia and possibly other countries, but not here in the UK

  • @17DJLOVER i know that spicks and specks didn t chart is the uk , but in Nederland it was nr 2 , but in Belgium was the first hit * to love somebody *but we in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium listen to Radio Veronica ( A PIRATE LOL ) and we went over the border , 30 miles , where the singles ( spicks and specks and new york ) was for sale .do you know that we do not have a chart on the radio in our Vlaanderen till may 1970 .There was only a list of best 20 ( Humo ) a weekly magazine

  • @walter4092 Very interesting thanks for the info- I do remember Radio Veronica, they played some great music, but what has remained with me is that annoying advert about stimmero gum? lol

  • Good!

  • wow this is a good song... i've never heard the bee gees like this before... i always thought they were just disco... hmmm must do some research now... anyone want to drop a few names to songs like this by the bee gee's... or just good songs by them that isnt disco... it would help alot... thanks in advance

  • @ClockWorKRuptured Look to your right. All the tunes featuring that yellow album cover are early Bee Gees hits.

  • I was 6 years old and I've already know the Bee Gees.

  • nice! (=

  • I have this LP, I grew up in the sixties, I really wish people understood why people wrote music like this.... motivation !!! Why does the other person feel what they do ??....sensitivity !!!

  • Hello Everybody!

Now THIS is the BEE GEES, NOT THAT GODDAMNED FUCKING DISCO RUBBISH THEY DID IN THEY LATER DAYS. I OWN THIS LP AND 'BEST OF BEE GEES VOL. 2' BOTH ON RSO LP'S WITH THE PINK COW LOGO, THIS HAS THE LIGHT BEIGE LABEL AND THE OTHER HAS THE SILVER LABEL.

  • i am 12 and the bee gees are awsome

  • @lassiesfriends09 i m 57 and was 13 when the bee gees had with this song their first hit and 44 years later i still remember what i was doing when they play all the others songs of this group

  • @walter4092 So this song is from 1966?

  • @jityr2 No, it was from 1967

  • I'm 4 Months Old, And I Love The Bee gees!

No, But Really, I Just Love The Bee gees.

  • I'm under 18, like the beegees, can spell, use a keyboard and use basic grammar.

  • I'll the old Bee Gees stuff

  • I'm not a big fan of their disco (I just don't like disco in general) but I love their other work <3

  • This song & I go back a long way, it's nice to enjoy it once gain!!

    Thank You!

  • I loved their disco work, but it's too bad more people don't recognize their earlier releases.

  • The BGs finest work was in the early days with stuff like this. Too bad that some folks only remember their disco era.

  • So underrated/underappreciated, wish the world knew that there is more to the Bee Gees than disco. Haters need to listen to this record.

  • i'm 13 years old.

    I love this song!

  • Everytime I hear the beegees I remember when I was young at my late granny's house with my aunts and and uncle sitting round the turn table listening to them.

  • @farmakorap36

yeah u say it! nice track

  • Have you seen my wife Mr Jones? Oh wait I forgot I killed her and put her in a compost bin

  • @Kevlar4000... that's murder...!

  • HAVE U SEEN MY WIFE YOUTUBERS?

  • No wonder they compare the Bee Gees' early sound to that of the Beatles.

  • 1939-1945 World War 2

1941 or 1942 The New York Mining Disaster Always Says; "Have You Seen My Wife Mr Jones? Do You Know What It's Like From The Outside?

Don't Go Talking When Give Your LandSlide, Mr Jones".

How many Soldiers were killed during World War 2?

  • It was nice when songs actually meant something.

  • 0:44

  • burner ♥

  • Always liked the BG's - watched a BBC documentary last night and was captivated. Superb

  • My grandpa died in this disaster....

  • thumbs up if necro brought u here haha

  • I was around 17 yrs old in the late sixties when I heard this nice song by the Bee Gees .

  • This Song Knew About New York In 1941 when the Bee Gees Had Their Song.

  • I'm in love with the slow, dark parts..

I don't like it when it gets all happy.

It kind of stimulates a migrane.

  • @loganforkman123 It's not really happy though. Just more energetic.

  • They're Awesome !!

  • I'm 12 years old and I go to the Bee Gees show here, in Brasil.

    I LOVE BEE GEES

  • @maral1004 enjoy,it,i,hope,you,have,the,night,ever,i,believe,it,will,be,amazing,fantastiic,bay,angel,xxx

  • Music is like wine, old is better...

  • @FigueiraACDC But not if it turns into vinegar! Just joking!

  • Beyond brilliant immortal !

  • Martin Carthy's version is better.

  • Who's the 4th guy at the very back?

  • @ConfusedSponge He is their drummer who I can only assume got dumped somewhere along the way. I think they were originally a 5 piece when they come over from Australia

  • @GrumpyBand Oh, that. Thanks. Anyway, can you identify him. Can't find him anywhere. Is he Colin Petersen,

    Vince Melouney or Geoff Bridgford?

  • @ConfusedSponge . According to Wikipedia its Colin Peterson.

  • @GrumpyBand Thank you.

  • RIP Pike 29

  • so topical....Brilliant ..... Enduring....!

  • Outstanding Song!

  • As far as I am concerned - the only Bee Gee song of substance & quality. Hope you agree?

  • @Reneemargaret2009 Quite. This is my favorite of all Bee Gees' song. All their disco songs such as Saturday Night Fever make my soul rot.

  • As far as I am concerned - the only BEE Gee song of substance & quality. Hope you agree?

  • who is the fourth person on the album cover? I know, do you?

  • @thesageofohio No, I don't actually.

  • @robsargent4 his name is blue weaver

  • @thesageofohio Is that his real name?

  • Disaster ? We could do with another one now. Good ol' song though.

  • Thank you to the miners. They give so much.

  • I heard that in 1967 there was a rumour around the Bee Gees and a lot of people thought that it was The Beatles who published under that name. So on the radio they played this song and the mentioned that this was the new single by the Beatles. Is this correct? Can anybody tell?

  • @SgtOBrien Yes it is correct, everybody though that this was another brilliant song from the Beatles under another name, the rest is history.

  • Even though I don't like comments like "I'm 18 and I love them" I just need to say that to assure you people.

I'm 14. I listen to metal, hard rock, but I also listen to classical and disco music. I love the Bee Gees. You must know that not all the young people are listening to only rock or mainstream pop.

  • I read something on Wiki that people thought that this was a Beatles song because they thought the Bee Gees was abbreviation for the Beatles Group lol!

  • and dont get confused with my profile :)

I wrote that age to watch videos above18

  • I am 17, i hear Hip Hop, I heard Necro and through him I found The Bee Gees.

I am from germany and I've just heard of them once... but wasnt interested... this song now caught me...

  • reread my comment, i was not attacking. just not a fan of disco. i loved their early music especially n.y. mining disaster. they didnt just last on the charts by the way. they owned the charts during the disco craze. d.j.'s who were tired of hearing them used to have beegee free weekends and such. their early music was great

  • the beegees were disco. they defined and refined the style. i didnt like it either but give them their due. they were the biggest thing in music during the 70's. i love their early music.

  • @diecargal The Bee Gees where Disco in the 70's but they had many many hits in the 60's with Robin singing Lead like I Started A Joke and this song Disaster in 1941 which was written in 10 minutes when the power went out at the recording studio... The Bee Gees lasted close to 25 years on the charts you are selecting a very small part of there history to attack

  • im 17th years old and i love beegees...

  • @karthik2690 I'm 15 years old DUDE! :D haha we are Young and have Great MUSIC!

  • @karthik2690 im also 17 and i LOVE the beegees too...

  • @beaner9700 Good. I was approximately your age when I first got into them in 1967 and today they still live me. Some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. {;-)

  • @karthik2690 Your 17th...

Go study proper English before you start liking the beegees

  • @MarshallVonStrong He's probably not even English... and yet I bet he speaks English better than you speak his language.

  • heard the guy talking to mr jones was on the inside and on the other side of the wll is jones who is also supposed to be traped

  • @chewylikesit I'm not too sure, but I think it's supposed to be like a letter found by the wife while he is being trapped with Jones, but maybe I'm overcomplicating it.

  • why o why didn't the BeeGees stay with this beautifull sound instead of going disco junk

  • @noproblem53 I don't like their disco music either, but they (like so many other bands) just wanted to survive. From what I'm told from people who lived in the disco years, a lot of artist suffered because they had someone else writing their songs instead of composing it themselves. This is pretty damn funny concidering it was going on at those times too, not to mention all the covers!

  • @noproblem53 You mean the disco that shot them to stardom and the top of the charts again? That junk?

  • @noproblem53

Probably because they realized that they had to adapt and experiment with new sounds in order to remain relevant to the current music scene, and that's why they had the success and longevity that they did.If they simply set about appeasing narrow minded old fucks like you, they would have been long forgotten rather than being recognized for being one of the greatest and most successful acts in recent history.

  • @tapiaassasin Ditto:

  • superb like the velvett fogg version to

  • @skunkhead2006 its fantastic...

  • @skunkhead2006 its fantastic...

  • I love that drum beat.

Also, the song is uncharacteristically dark for 1967.

  • maybe mr.jones is somebody, bob dylan has a song called ballad of a thin man, where he sings of mister jones maybe there are connected in maybe...maybe not

  • @taylorjaybass They're obviously singing about David Bowie. His real name is David Jones and he was once called 'The Thin White Duke'. (Just kiddin'!)

  • Anyone notice that despite their mellow sound the lyrics to many of their songs cover dark themes.

  • I love the early Bee Gees, say up to 1974. The work from the 60's stands the test of time. It was very creative and compelling. This song is a perfect example. I also love "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You." Unlike many bands from the 60's, like Herman's Hermits or Dave Clark Five who incorporate too much influence and emulation in their songs, The Bee Gees would have existed even without The Beatles. Although I don't HATE their disco stuff, I don't love it. Still, I'm a big fan.

  • Remembering the Pike River Mine 29, 2010 RIP

  • @santipasnz

Hear, hear. May they rest in peace.

  • Comment removed

  • many themes from bee gees were very famous, but huge number of those who are not listed like this are also giant, or holly day too.

  • Lengede Mining Desaster 1963

    Chile Mining Desaster 2010

  • check Trevor Tanner's great cover of this one, entitled Mr.Jones

  • Brings memory of Chilean miners traped for months underground and what they families gone through.

  • i may be 12 but i do know this is an amazing song

  • straight rip from the beatles haha at least they did it some justice
