  • Who is he doing when he says Cornwall? Right after Jimmy Stewart, was it John Wayne?

  • NO one can do a better job playing Sammy.. in the upcoming Sinatra movie than Tommy Davidson..

  • what a Talented performer!

  • Man, What A Gem Of Talent & Wooo...

  • Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin became partners at the 500 club, how funny he'd impersonate Jerry Lewis and sing one of the songs Jerry sang in his "normal" voice. I love it.

  • he is amazing!

  • He is so ridiculously good! I have never seen an impersonation of Jerry Lewis done that well EVER!

  • Great stuff!

  • Sammy was so funny AND humane. This clip shows it, he may do fun about them here, but to him others were first always. Such a gentleman didn't just happen.

  • Love it!

  • o my gosh jimmy stewart was perfect !

  • This is great, but Sammy hit his stride with the "One For My Baby" song impressions.

  • it's kind of scary hearing jerry lewis' voice coming out of someone else hahaha this is talent!

  • He is amazing!

  • Wow he was great! RIP Sammy!

  • He had such passion.. A lost art these days.

    Great video!

  • and at 1:35? :D

  • Comment removed

  • Who is he impersonating at 1:13?

  • @RonaiHenrik Sammy is imitating Vaughn Monroe (1:13) and Billy Eckstine (1:35), two popular singers of the era. There are YouTube postings of the real Monroe and Eckstine, and Sammy's imitations are really uncanny.

  • @horrormovieshows Thank you :)

  • Sammy lost his left eye in an auto accident (he was returning to Los Angeles from Las Vegas).

  • I'm only 28, and watching this I learned what the term CLASSIC really means. Something is only classic when it can stand the test of time. This was just as entertaining today as it was yesterday and when Sammy actually did this performance. This was great, not like the mediocre and subpar entertainers of today. Wish I could have seen this live. This is full of CLASS, what most of my generation lacks.

  • This clip is from the summer of 1954. Only a few months later, in November of that year, Sammy lost his eye.

  • @horrormovieshows how he lost his eye?

  • He was quite young here. I have never seen him without his mustache before; also, is this before he lost his eye ?

  • He was quite young here. I have never seen him without his mustache before; also, it this before he lost his eye ?

  • classic!!! L O V E D it!

  • classic!!! L O V E D it!

  • he's doing shawn connery at 2:30 hahaha

  • Sam was the #1 of all time! The best pound for pound entertainer in the world, bar none! We miss you Sam - and we love you. RIP you Coolest Cat.

  • Sammy Davis Jr. was the best member of the Rat Pack. As a 27 year old, Davis is my favorite musician. I was looking for a CD of his at Walmart and came up with Frank Sinatra. Oh, well, I purchased Frank Sinatra. I need some Sammy Davis Jr. in my car to make my long commute to college and business less boring.

  • Genius

  • haha that jerry lewis is priceless! haha

  • Thanks for posting this wonderful piece of history. Sammy was and still is, beyond compare.

  • Who has half his talent in today's mu-sick biz... would he make it on idol?

  • Was there ever a more talented human being?....I think NOT!!!

  • Um gênio que se foi...

  • Jerry Lewis impersonation was AWESOME!!!!!

  • What a great entertainer. What a talent.

  • HE REALLY IS GREAT :D

  • ♫ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY ♫ - Sammy Davis Jr

    Would be 85 today - 8th Dec 2010!

    We miss you Sammy! ♡

  • I take it this is before the accident in which he lost his eye? if so, I assume its among the few existing clips of him before that accident?

  • just put the biggest smile on my face :)

  • genius

  • Is this number available on DVD...? Love it!

  • Fan - tas - tic !

  • sammy, dean, and frank. the best we have ever seen or heared. please coem back and save us from the likes of gaga and bieber and spears. and all the other wannabes. these guys had talent, charisma, and personality. i was bors about 50 years to late i think

  • does anybody know whos the impression at 1.15 after nat king cole?

  • @princessximi You mean after Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett? That would be Vaughn Monroe, a well-known bandleader and singer of the 30's, 40's and 50's. His most famous hit song was probably "Ghost Riders in the Sky."

  • A tremendous talent. It takes a very strong singing ability to imitate other singers well. Unfortunately, because he was so amazingly versatile as an entertainer and because much of his singing was devoted to imitations, Sammy's "real" singing never made the impact that it might have.

  • they should make a movie about his life

  • I saw Sammy when he first started. The Will Maston Trio, playing at Bill Millers Rivera in New Jersey located on the Palisades, featuring Sammy Davis Jr, this was one of his songs.

One of the greatest entertainers of all time.

He became Jewish on a dare from.............guess who?

  • HIs Jerry Lewis was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!!! Ohhhhh my goodness!

  • if anyone deserved a Kennedy Center award..he did

  • Jerry Lewis @ 4 minutes.

Sammy had it all, singing, dancing, acting, comedy & impressions. he was so talented and gifted. Thank you Sammy Davis Jr for it all.

  • @ 4:00 minutes the great Jerry Lewis, Sammy had it all, singing, dancing, impressions, acting and comedy. A true angelic spirit. Thank you for talent !!!

  • 4:00 who's that impression?

  • some one knows who sing in the minute 1:40 please

  • @reolosero Sammy is impersonating Billy Eckstine at 1:40. (There are some YouTube postings of the real Eckstine.)

  • @horrormovieshows yeeaah thanks ;D

  • ahh someone knows who sings in the minute 1:40??

    please

  • We oughtta throw entertainers today to the wolves by taking away their flashy wardrobe, special lighting effects, lip syncing and half naked backup dancers. Give them a mic and a "good luck". Sink or swin.

  • @TenderTrap86 OMG haha yes!

  • @TenderTrap86 Dont forget the auto tune.

  • @TenderTrap86 I have often thought the same thing myself

  • I'm Chilean and I had the chance to meet the artists.

    Thanks dad!

    Francisco

  • The man was a god amongst men.

  • A great performer.

  • greeeeaaaaaaaadddd day,,,that was OUTSTANDING...I COULD REMEMBER HIM A LITTLE...MY MOM WATCH HIM ALL THE TIME..AND SHE REALLY WANTED ME TO TAP DANCE,,I MAY TRY IT,,,JUST FOR HER.....BECAUSE OF YOU...ALL OF YOU AND ESPECIALLY TO ALL MY YOUTUBE.COM VIDEO SENDER AND FRIEND THANKS FOR EVERYTHING..BECAUSE OF YOU..IT WAS MADE POSSIBLE FOR ME TO EXPRESS WHAT I FEEL INSIDE,,AND RELATE IT, TO A THOUGHT..A SAYING..OR JUST SHARING..NOT TO GET ANY CREDIT OR MAKE MY SHOW RUN WELL,,TO RELATE,ANY OFFENSE SORRY

  • HAHA

    wonderful

    what a performer

  • luv it! :D btw only Sammy could do a Jerry Lewis impersonation perfectly!

  • lol

  • the best

  • One word: genius.

But one should note that Jerry Lewis played a key role in how Mr. Davis furthered his career. The two admired each other greatly.

  • @msm2you Uh... "Jerry Lewis" furthered Sammy Davis' career? You're kidding right? Sinatra is the reason why Sammy went mainstream (insert broke the color bar) but what did Mr. Lewis have to do with this? GIven that Sammy and Frank where already established LONG before Lewis even met Dean Martin. That's the main reason why Lewis was never apart of the "Rat Pack"

  • @Robway034 You'll have to read "Photographs by Sammy Davis Jr." Lewis gave Davis (who had just started performing solo) some good advice - he told Davis that "you talk too good", that the Englishman schtick that he was doing at the time was separating him from his audience. Sammy (like Nat King Cole) knew good advice when he heard it. Read the book, Rob. It's an amazing read.

  • Freaking amazing talent!

  • Jim Carrey eat your heart out. This was amazing!

  • GOOD!

  • It's really sad that people think Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer ever. Sammy could run circles around him in his prime. He was THE best and every single person who ever saw him perform live would tell you the exact same thing.

  • @TenderTrap86 The thing is Michael Jackson was fully aware that Sammy was the greatest entertainer ever. He mentored under Mr. Davis when he was a child.

  • sammys good :D

  • Luv it

  • LUV this showcase Sammy got original talent no doubt thanks so much for posting!!:-)) R-luv

  • This is so good and funny! Really talented..

  • Exellent!

  • Classic,....classic,...simply and purely classic!! What a talent, what a man, what a person Sammy was!! We dont have any talent today that comes even close to Sammy!!

  • ONE OF THE BEST"

  • he has his eyes here because the car wreck happened in 55 I believe

  • The Jimmy Stewart was really perfect.

  • isn't this the year where he loses his left eye?

  • @dainbranage naw i think that was 1955

  • He's really a man of thousand faces !

    genius!

  • OMG this is hilarious!!!! No wonder Michael loved this guy. He's awesome!!!

  • Got it on '78' you had to turn over to get the actors' bit.

  • Does anyone know if Sammy ever impersonated Frank Sinatra?

  • Sammy in his era is what micheal jackson is in ours , with much more talent he was the greatest that ever did it, Thank God for Sammy

  • That was AWESOME!!

  • but after james stewart and before of cary grant ? who is ? maybe gary cooper ?

  • He's doing Humphrey Bogart there. The "Okay Greenwald, drop the charges" remark refers to the controversy over Malchiel Gruenwald (Greenwald) charging that Israel government spokesman Rudolf Kastner had been a Nazi collaborator. It's still a subject of debate.

  • thanks very much horrormovieshows.

  • @horrormovieshows I think the"Greenwald" reference is for Bogart's role in The Caine Mutiny where he, as Capt Queeg, was prosecuted by Lt Barney Greenwald, played by Jose Ferrer.

  • Es buenísimo!!!!!!!!!! xD

  • His voice is so soft <3

  • BAHAHAHAHA this was soooo funny!!! great performance, classic!

  • mad props to him and my people!!!

  • no one can really beat sammy next to him is jerry...lewis.

  • he is hilarious and a serious inspiration

  • sick in the head, absolute DOYEN!

  • lol

  • Amazing. The last seconds, when Sammy starts Jerry Lewis impersonation, are fantastic.

  • His impressions were great!

  • Oh man this was terrific! Ty.

  • He surely was, but lol he is reminding me of Jim Carrey with his mouth contortions.

  • Sammy , James , Michael . Who next to be one of the Never ending Greatest? music today. you dont need talent. just a stupid machine and clothes.

    Long live the kings

  • One of the greatest.

  • the best they ever was

  • probably the best entertainer th world has ever seen

    rip a true ledgend

  • No doubt about it, TheRonniek. No one had the range as a performer that Sammy had. He was a naturally gifted and spent the whole of his childhood nurturing that talent. He could also sing, dance, and act at the highest level. Frank recognised that. Their legendary relationship should be the subject of a movie: two of the most gifted human beings ever born, who gave full expression to Dr King's speech about a person being accepted on the basis of character, not race. I love the man.

  • Totally amazing!!!!!he was a perfect artist, a show man!

  • That was amazing! I just died laughing!! Sammy was such a great guy! Love this so much!

  • I love his Jerry Lewis impressions. If you didn't look at his face, he would swear it was Jerry.

  • lovedddddddd this thanx for the upload

  • 10/10

    Thank You

  • Great video!

  • Wow! Thanks for the upload! ...and to think, I never new that that Sammy did impressions! And boy is he GOOD!!

  • AMAZING !!! Love him <3

  • love it, thank you!

  • That was F*&^ING awesome!! 5 stars for true talent

  • this is magnificent!!!!

  • Horrormovieshows, last month, at the Michael Jackson memorial, Berry Gordy said that Michael was the greatest entainer who ever lived. I had agreed with him, until this clip reminded me, that because of all the walls of prejudice and racism constantly around, and in spite of that period of time, Sammy Davis, Jr. was still able to rise above it all. I forgot about him. May God continue to protect and embrace Sammy's spirit, with His love, forever and...a day.

  • Amazing! What a find! Thanks

  • absolutely amazing!

  • yes mj could sing and even dance but is that real talent. or is talent more, the ability to sing normally but using many comedy voices, ability to dance and improv as you go, and to light up a room even as people who were not alive then such as me i am 22 watching it from youtube it feals like he brought it to life as if i was in the 50's front row. thats talent

  • This is so awesome! He doesn't get enough credit for his talent. He was the true triple threat entertainer.

  • Knew about the singing, dancing, comedic talent....but not the impressions..

    Amazing...great post!

  • OMG! this Man is extraordinay!!!!!!!! "I"m Speechless" I'm gonna find all the music I can on him. I'm 33yrs-old, I knew of him but I had no idea his was so "superhuman"

  • Mr. Entertainment. BTW, who is the impression at 2:50? Humphrey Bogart?

  • Yes, he's doing Bogart there. The "Okay Greenwald, drop the charges" remark refers to the controversy over Malchiel Gruenwald (Greenwald) charging that Israel government spokesman Rudolf Kastner had been a Nazi collaborator. It's still a subject of debate.

  • Just fantastic.

  • thank you so much for posting this!!

  • 'Because of you, you dirty rat' XD

Sammy at his finest. What a god.

  • it's crazy because his impersonations are sooo funny and good, but even if you simply pay attention to his singing and the various ways he can do it......he's really fucking incredible. just his singing alone is incredible....

  • Christ! Sammy is the best impersonater I know!! He also does an AMAZING Louis Armstrong!!!

  • Remarkable!!!

  • Priceless....

  • He's so much better than Jim Carrey at impersonating the exact same people... plus can sing, tap, and dance! What a PHENOMENAL brotha!

  • Haha. That was great! I loved it. Thanks for posting this video. And God Bless the Classics. :)

  • OMG! Gotta love Sammy. His Cagney bit bowled me over. Sammy was one of the best of the very best! Thanks for the awesome video!

  • I loved the Tony Bennett impression!

  • WOW...

  • Wow I never knew Sammy Davis Jr. had such a variety of talent!!! Simply Amazing!!

  • lol 3:57:)!! lol

  • what a miracle of a performance. the cagney one is sizzling with brilliance

  • WOW......... just amazing

  • Who let Sammy get in the talent line 50 times? This guy was a once in a generation talent.

  • what a talent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i miss talent like that!!!

  • Oh, and the best part was 'the dramatic actors'. Jimmy Cagney made me rolling on the floor laugh ;D

  • He was a really funny guy! And had a great voice. I really like him! And movies with him like 'Robin and the 7 Hoods' ;)

  • Awesome performance.

  • Fantastic!

  • This video is fantastic! He's got so much energy, I love it!

  • Amazing!!!

  • OMG, his Jerry Lewis is 100% spot-on! Wow. Such a talented performer, all-around entertainer. Whadda guy. :]

  • Not to mention his Jimmy Stewart.

  • "You Nice People"

    :)

  • Amazing entertainer! Great singer!

  • are you fucking insane ?

  • Don't pay any attention to this henrycorbetson idiot, that's what he wants. He's got multiple accounts and makes annoying comments just to get attention from people, that's his idea of fun. He's a f@#%ing troll and a spammer.

  • thx il take your advice ;)

  • Absolutely the best!!!!Nobody can equal him!
