@marxman12 They can move at a wide variety of speeds depending on the direction and speed they were moving before being pulled by Earth's gravity. A great many other factors are also relevant such as mass and previous trajectories in relation to all the other parts of our Solar system (sun, planets, asteroids, etc.) Not to mention your perspective to the meteor's atmospheric entry can make it seem faster or slower.

The entire video shot in the police car was fifteen minutes. So at this point, I do not know, nor does anyone else really, but the logical explaination is a meteorite, I guess?

Meteors can explode before they reach the ground. When the meteor enters the atmosphere at 30.000mph and it's big enough, you will hear an explosion & see a bright light.

I wouldnt be suprised if the "earthquake" they felt were the shockwave from the explosion.

Meteors are made of rock/metals, so do not have tails. Comets made of ice have tails. It seems slow because it's very high in the sky.
