its just the same thing again and again and again. If you do buy this game dont except explosive battle, tactical fighting, exploration, pvp or any kind of fun normally found in the worst mmo's. Its important to note i'm reviewing the game from a stand point that i've played a lot of these games, no not to 1 in paticular. 2 / 10 for graphics and the excellent fishing mini game :/

example of crafting 9 items, first cooking recipe (which i had to look up online as the game never gave me 1) its a very unfriendly game. (not the players) I've never played a mmo where to cant skid down a cliff or jump into the sea, its just all surface and no substance, and if it cant give you a barrier you just get a invisable wall. Try targetting with a party member infront of you.. you can't. I'm lvl 15 and im starting to realise there are no bosses or even mini-bosses, no party instances >

ffxiv isn't a good game, i've played at least 10 mmo's before this 1, and its the worst by far. I wish people would stop defending it. I've already asid all this but i'm in my right to say it again since i paid £50 for it. The UI is gash, the maps dont even bother to show you party members. There is no ah or post in the game. You can't jump or swim / dive and you certaintly can't fly lol. There is very little exploration because of this, finding vendors you need is learning process >>>

one thing i hate about paying game is threw credit card. i understand they need money to make the game and gain some profit. please make game card pay to play like other mmorpg or atleast have like a monthly payment plan. late hidden charge or one month over pay charge cost lots of player to end their game. there's lot of way to pay please make it happen so i can go back on my FFXI.

Actually the game play looks great, it's just a demonstration so they're not fighting much. There is no auto attack for melee or range attacks and no it will not be free to play.The detail in the scenery looks great also. I would say I hope this game puts WoW in the ground but that's a lie. WoW can keep their mostly horrible fan base.

Most likely not, very few MMO's are free to play. The amount of work being put into FFXIV they are hoping people will pay monthly to play. That is how they get slowly returning profit from the game.

Um, no. All quality MMO's have a subscription fee. It will be 15 dollars. If you want a free crappy MMO, then you'll find them usually without a monthly subscription fee. You'll end up with crappy support, rarely any content and it will be full of children.

Either the guys testing it doesnt know how to play or it is that slow. Very unrealistic if you ask me. Feels weird to wait 10sec to hit a monster. Perhaps things will be different when you actually see some skills in use + normal attack.

@Horeb7 There is no "auto" attack for physical attackers. It's going to be great, everyone will have to use a skill for an attack just like magic users have been limited to, unless you count the wands in wow.

I'm sure the combat will be paced similarly to FFXI, but you can clearly tell by the attack speed of the enemies, that the players aren't doing anything right.

It's likely because XIV does not have auto-attack.

FF11 was slow, but most regular FFs are sufficiently fast. Nonetheless, it's clear that the players spend a lot of time just standing or running around in circles.

This game looks WAY too similar. I don't know about you, but I'm used to Final Fantasy producing very different games. Not sure why they chose the exact same races. And I was hoping they'd make it more action like to compare to WoW and warhammer. This slow paced shit won't keep anyone on it. WoW is more difficult to play well than FFXI. I disagree with Crimson. FFXI was more of a grind and in some ways to me felt more rewarding with end results. But it was too much of a grind.

i was a FF fan and i play ff11 for about a year. got ninja to 60 and thief to 55 but i was bore on the fighting system cuz it was too dam slow. of course, thats only my opinion and it will different from other ppl. if this new on have FF13 battle system i will not look back at Aion and WoW at all. as of now i quit WoW for Aion cuz WoW is boring for me. i hope SE will do better on the battle system when the actual game release.

Battlesystem in WoW is WAY to easy for true rpg players.

You can put a 6 year old on WoW and hell do just fine.

Final fantasy XI Online was a whole different story entirely.

2-3 mobs at once and you where a goner.

The game was hard as hell but at least that made you feel like you accomplished something ones u got to a respectable level. Plus gear was awfully hard to get, not like WoW where its one instance after the other...

I played both games and enjoyed them both for their different aspects.

But you cannot deny that Final Fantasy XI Online was more challenging then WoW.

I just stated an obvious fact, that is known if you played both games.

Nonetheless they are both great games. WoW as well as Final Fantasy. They both have unique storylines and its fun to discover and interact with the "worlds" offered in both of these great RPGs

I played them both for a long while, WoW has a much more challenging/rewarding and enjoyable pvp system, if that's what you like- WoW blows ffxi away.

Ffxi is a very long and somewhat enjoyable PVM/PVE grind with amazing story, If you're into that kinda style then that's the game for you.

After playing both for a fair amount of time I have to say neither is harder nor easier. They focus on entirely different aspects, as kuo said; comparing apples to oranges.

I don't think the people playing are actually from SE. Probably just some people at a convention trying it out for the first time. It looks like they were just auto-attacking and not really using any abilities... hence the slow combat. I highly doubt combat will be slow or boring with the finished product :)
