On Master Difficulty, level 81, and without any decent enchanted items, I had to spam twin Frost Atronarchs, Ice Spikes and a lot of magicka and health potions to keep myself alive and healing hands for Orthorn as well.

One of the hardest boss fights if you're playing as a good guy.

Did not use any weapons for whole duration of the Winterhold quest series (except for bound weapons).

@Mattisnotavailabable honestly. biggest fluke ever. i was only level 7 . i just used ethernal . used the scroll. and i didnt even know what would happen. and i accidentally looked up. and for a second i thought it was glitching and i was on the roof. then about 1 minute later i realised i was looking directlly up and turn around to see everyone dead . how it works. idno

Run in there with fire and sparks and just don't let up on her and it works.

If you have the werewolf blood you could run into a corner, transform and constantly use the fear shout that it has. It worked for me

I was like lvl 17 when i fought her and i kept dieing...but i figured out that when u first talk to her, tell her that u will make an arrangment, then she will say " Ok then..give me the elf for the books"... then it will take u out of speech mode and she gives u time to think about it... wat i did was walked around behind her and save. Cause now u have a chance of a surprise attack at a close range... Thats how i managed to kill her. :)

I also used the mass paralysis scroll at level 4 and defeated her.

I had 38 destruction magic and I started by using unrelenting force then while she was down using the scroll. Then I dual casted Ice Spike and I killed her before she could even switch places with her flame atronach or run out of mana. I had the perks for stronger dual cast spells, 25% more damage for ice and half mana for apprentice spell.

@emerican147 This is mostly for pure mage characters. Its really hard to kill a mage when your only attacks are magic.

i used unrelenting force shout which stagered her all the way giving me time to charge at her, im dual weilding so i ran after her then quickly attacked her. make sure your close to the platform where the book is then fus ro dah her ass. then yea.....when she staggers, the process of her getting up will be enough time for you to attack her, not to mention that she has low HP ;) i did this in like one try :D SKYRIM FO EVAAAH ^^v

Another way to do it is to use a scroll of storm antronach on her if you have it. Then go from there

Level 6 Scroll of Fire Storm (pretty sure you find one inside this dungeon actually)

instant kills everything in that room on adept, on a harder difficulty it will probably make it just as easy

I had really big problems with this chick.. Then i got an idea, I took my Fireboll out and dual casted it and i 2 hitted her took around 5 seconds it was on Adept, Im a level 5 Dark Elf. Just grab your fireball.

I was lvl 6 and went into the arche mages room and stole the ultimate and vigerouse magika potions, then went back there, had about 15 minor healing potions already in inventory used spark and flame popped less damage from frost and shock potions and popped my power (which regens mana faster) and started with unrelenting shout and continued like in the video but without the scroll and other shout

Thanks!! I made life difficult for my self by wading in at level 7 and wondering why I couldn't defeat her with fireballs (I know, wtf). I had a perfectly good scroll sitting there and a complete stubborness about using anything other than what I had equipped. Still learning how to play this sort of game again (not played dungeon crawler rpg for aeons!). Anyhow, cheers and SCROLLS FTW!!!!

the boss was not that hard if you can doge the attacks and youse fire and spark you should kill the minion first then she is a piece of cake I whas lvl 5 by doing this

dude i tryed this at level 16, i didnt have a shout yet and i didnt kill a dragon yet, didnt have paralysis, tried to kill her with dwarven warhammer and got 3 good hits max then she killed me, and i did that 3 times, this boss is fucking hard man

Easiest thing to do: Use Unrelenting force on here immediately. Don't even worry about her two atronachs, just start wailing on her with you weapons/magic until she's dead. The atronachs disappear when she dies.

A quick easy way for those who dont have all those materials its very simple

First equip unrelenting shout

Second equip spark and fire

Third Take a poition of resist magic or resist frost (since this is the main magic she uses)

Four as soon as the battle is about to begin giver her a full powered shout and stun her then run up and hit her with your destruction spells she will fight back for a little but soon be overwhelmed and die the flame altronach will disapear

Even easier: you don't even need to kill her. If you have Orthorn with you (tell him to help you when you release him), you can simply trade him to her for the books and walk out without a fight. Alternatively, if that doesn't jive with your character's morals, a simple Calm spell can keep her quiet while you take the books, then walk out.

It's a very easy to avoid fight if it's kicking your butt at a low level. :)

@jamesigall this is on adept, and im only a level 8 at that point. I have an extremely high destruction spell skill level so thats why i was able to do so much damage while she was paralyzed. The scroll was the key to the victory though

I had the ice damage staff from a mob earlier in this dungeon, with novice level sparks

I just beat on her while dodging the fireballs from the atronarchs, died a few times from one of her spells which one-shot me, but after like 3 tries i won

hey guys I found an even easier way to do this, you don't need shouts or anything. All you need is the staff from the quest right before(staff of jyrik gauldurson) I kept hitting her with it, recharged it once with a petty soul gem, then hit her like 1 or 2 more times and she died. The staff does 25 damage to health and 50 damage to her magicka.

I conjured a flame atronach and when she was focused on attacking it used the scroll of blizzard worked like a charm

Nice tutorial, i wish i had the shout and the scroll, i was level 7 :P For anyone with the same problem : I did it with a frost steel war axe and the sparks, just run very fast to where she's teleporting and hit her with the axe and repeat this 4 or 5 times, dont pay any attention to the flame atronach
