Is the high placed lights fitted on a roof rack or a special mount? I´m looking for a mount that will allow my D 90" a good set of lights over the windshield without adding too much to the height of the car... (Need to be able to go under 2.15m) and I only want a short roof-rack in the back end of the car (easily removed...)
i have owned 3 wranglers so far and all of the have had problems!
low grade fuels are high high in sulfur, these fuels you will find in alot of 2nd and 3rd world countries and your engine needs to be specially tuned to handle the fuel (and also if you are running on petrol and not diesel, that can run you into problems aswell as petrol is not available everywhere)
The 300TDI and before are terrible, the TD5 is terrible, the TD5 with the updated interior is a fraction better due to better airflow with the modified dash. The latest model with the Puma (Ford DuraTorq) engine is pretty stunning though. Good as any heater you'll get in any modern vehicle. Quick to heat and plenty warm enough.
@andyswitzerland have you tried a radiator muff? I don't have one, but word on the street is they reduce the airflow through the rad and allow the engine to heat up faster and stay warmer.....
Well presented video and great quality! Nicely put together looks great fun! Very jealous! That exhaust sounds very raspy :-) And those roof lights i presume H.I.Ds are exceptional!
You don't know jack shit about rovers or cruisers if u think their " mommy wagons" they are designed for using off road like the outback and deserts etc. I only see jeeps all gloryfied here in the states no one else in the world gives a shit about them. cept for canada.
No, your ignorance is what makes you wrong. No Range Rover or Land Cruiser can hold up to a Jeep- simple fact.
Where does exhaust and tire size come into play? OH- yeah, that's right, it doesn't- you're just scrambling for an argument because you're 15 years old with no license or vehicle of any substance.
You know, you would run into less problems if you wouldn't talk out your ass about things you've got no clue about.
why don't you go drive all three at the same obstacle. before you judge which is better. your base everything u "Think" you know about me on my age. at least i'm mature enough to look at all perspectives of opinions.
Mature enough to look at all perspectives of opinions? LOL Yet you're the one saying that Jeep is terrible off road (basically)... LOL I have a family friend with an old D90. The thing is a piece of junk at this point but when it ran it was... Well... Still a piece of junk.
I've owned three Jeeps. A 1985 Jeep Cherokee 4 door, a 1994 Jeep Cherokee 2 door XJ, and a '98 Jeep Wrangler TJ. So I have experience with Jeeps, obviously. What about you? Oh... Right... Go-carts and no license. LOL
Of course ur not gonna believe me. You just base my knowledge on my age. You wouldn't be able to handle anyone saying something that doesn't match your opinions. Especially some one younger than you. And you keep saying that I think jeeps suck. I just know that there are better 4x4 options out there. For example, the Camel Trophy the first year they used Cj-6s. After the first year they where replaced with Land Rovers.
I'm not going to believe you for 3 reasons. Yes, I'm including your age, yes, I'm including your lack of experience... But I'm also not going to believe you for the simple fact that you don't believe Jeeps can hang with the rest of them, which is exactly where you're wrong. If you knew anything, you would realize how idiotic you've been with your opinion towards Jeep.
Ok, like I said before, I have experience off road. And the knowledge off how to drive off road.Even though I don't drive, I go off roading and I know ur gonna make a comment on my go karts again, but I go in actual vehicles more often. My go karts are my hobby, like people who have quads. You are totally not interpreting what I'm saying. All 4x4's have pros and cons. The land rovers and cruisers ur thinking of are the one's that we get in america.
No, I know which ones you're talking about. I'm just talking about them as irrationally as you were Jeeps. They're all capable, and all have their pros and cons as you said, yet you have posted in many different videos about "why would anyone modify a Cherokee- it might as well be a mini-van" shit.
Cherokees are in fact family cars. However there is the Xj series that is more off road capable. I'm refering to the family cherokees like the the Grand or limited editions. Basically this is where I stand with 4x4s. Jeeps ( wranglers , cj's etc) would be a rock climber or mudder. Due to their shorter length. Rovers and Cruisers are better suited for trecking and trailing. Their longer length give a better chance of high centering on rocks and such but also will reach the top of a hill sooner.
There is a difference between the Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee. The Cherokee is the one I prefer simply for looks and the 2 door option, and the manual transmission, however, the ZJ Grand Cherokee and the XJ Cherokee were both designed with offroad capability in mind and to be as bare roots as possible for their purpose.
You need to research Jeeps a bit more. You will see that there is a cult following of Jeep enthusiasts for a good reason, and XJ's are highly revered vehicles.
The thing about Jeeps are they're tough, reliable, capable, and cheap. An XJ with the AW4 auto or the AX-15 manual and the 4.0L I6 will never let you down if maintained properly. You can acquire a good condition, running Cherokee for 500-2000 dollars, and with about 1500-2000 dollars more, you can lift it, get a great set of tires, lockers, etc, and you'll be good. When Land Rovers or Cruisers become that affordable, let me know.
Land Rovers are more expensive than a jeep but you have to think why. Now days they are more luxury that 4x4. Thanks to ford and tata. BMW made them more luxurious too but they kept 4x4 and safaris in mind while making them. Land Cruisers are cheaper, and are a little more reliable. That is why I think I would prefer a land cruiser. I loved our fj80 it got us out of 3.5 ft of snow without chains. plus it had the center diff lock. It had 'bout 285k before it got an oil leak.
All I can think of is because of the fact that they have more luxuries... locking differential, center differential, part and full time 4WD... I mean, it's the niceties like that that crank up the price- that and they're a rarity around here.
Jeeps are capable, they get the job done, and get it done cheaply. They'll get you where you need to go, and not leave you stranded. That and I just think they look better, too.
That's the only thing they've really had on Jeep was the option for a diesel... Though the Jeeps had a 4 cylinder Renault diesel in France, UK, and Canada and what not.
one of the reasons why a defender is a much better vehicle than jeep, is you can drive a defender around the world but you cannot do that with a jeep!
2 major reasons, one is reliability and access to parts world wide (which a jeep will need!) and the other reason is that jeeps cannot run of the low quality fuels that are in 2/3 of the world.
@leonardomoses your right and i like jeeps and defenders but with a jeep you have to lots of work on it before you can even dream of taking it where a defender goes stock from the factory lol
@leonardomoses I have to 100% + 100% agree with you... I am an American and we have owned a series II from 1969 and that thing has a living soul in it, something that a Jeep doesn't have.... if you want a proper 4x4, look for no other than Land Rover, sadly we only have less than 1000 Defenders here in the U.S., the safety regulation make it a rare piece. Viva LR!!!
no defender owner was getting at me and i would choose my defender over a land cruiser any day, here in Australia land cruisers are more expensive than a defender and land cruisers have no soul to them, just another boring japanese car!
i have a 2009 model defender and i have not had one single problem, one of the problems you will always have with a jeep is the electrics when you go through water.
@gar3thw see i believe that we americans(im not sure where you are from) see that jeeps in america dominate the off roading and toughness of vehicals and that land rovers are just another luxury suv that nobody wants to get dirty, because thats the only type of land rover over here that youll see.
@EazyE6793 Yes, I'm from America. I live in Maine, in the middle of nowhere, where there are lots of people with 4x4's. I love Jeeps, but they are simply inferior to Rovers.
@EazyE6793 By the "Escalade" type I'm guessing you're talking about Range Rovers, which are the luxury model. I agree that the new Range Rovers look way to glitzy and glamoury for my taste. I'm pretty confident though that they are still decent off-roaders, the only thing is that no one who just paid $50k or more for a Range Rover wants to take it off road.
@EazyE6793 LOL...ok You must not get out much. When I go off road (in America, CA to be exact), I see Jeeps, Nissans, Toyota, old Chevy trucks, and other domestic 4X4 and Land Rovers all the time. Maybe you live in Alabama where no one can afford Land Rovers therefore all you see are old Jeeps. As for toughness, I see a lot of people who own Jeeps that snap something within the suspension or axles area. Ive ran into one LR with a flat tire problem so far...knock on wood.
@EazyE6793 Alabama, Virginia, close enough. You need to watch some more news or something. Not close to half the country's debt. I'm sure Alabama, I mean Virginia, is in there as well. When you have a large population and idiots running this state, it happens.
@LandRoverWay23 ok no...Alabama and Virginia, not close enough. And Virginia is one of the few states in the US that only spends as much as it brings in. But whatever man. H1 >= Wrangler >= Landrover > everything else.
@EazyE6793 Why is it that you even brought up the debt of the state I live in? Really? I looked it up and your state is in debt too buddy. H1..lol. Talk about an off road car you can afford like a sidekick, or something cheaper.
@LandRoverWay23 You wooked it up!?! Good boy! I brought it up because you essentially said that where i live is to poor to afford a land rover. That is a dick head assumption. Now I'm not saying I'm rich or anything. I'm actually just a poor college student, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, working his way through college, doing something with his life, and not going around telling people that they're to poor to buy shit. So take your Ipad, shove it up your asshole, and get off of here.
Try not entering in the middle of an argument trying to act like a smartass, because it's obvious you have no clue what he was referencing to or what I was implying with my comment.
So... Speaking of ignorance, that describes you absolutely PERFECTLY. LOL
Shut the hell up I've been off road with jeeps, landcruisers and rovers. so don't sit here and try and tell me which is better. take ur damn redneck pick up against lancruiser. and see who has better ability
I know my truck is far more capable than any Land Cruiser. LOL Fucking boats they are.
You've been offroad with all those vehicles at the age of 15 with no license and no car/truck/anything. You're a joke. Go play with your go-carts, kid.
Bullshit, no god damn truck can hold up against 4wd and diff locks. Oh and I'v taken my go kart places were jeeps have gone so thats little comment didn't really bother me. and so i don't fucking drive the car but being in it and experiencing it off road is the same.
Hmmm... 4WD and diff locks you say? Hmm... Well, I don't need a center diff lock... But I do have front and rear lockers... LOL- that and I have more power, more articulation, and less electronics to deal with.
You've never been offroad in your life. You have no license and you have no car/truck- all you have are go-carts! LOL
Do you guys have a website or anything to find out more about the Trucks? i looking into getting a Defender over here in the states, and this video makes me want one even more.
From 125 to 188 measured Hp. Over here in Switzerland we always wanted in th 90's the US
V8 versions with the 4L engine. (Here are runnuing a few import cars from the US.
The Defenders with the "big" V8 were not sold here is this time. Then in the late 90's Land Rover sold the TD5. You see, what we wanted you had and then you wanted what we have... Thanks for your comment Andy
Very nice video...wish I was there. What have you done to the TD5 exactly? 188hp is heaps (more usable power than the V8 by a long way I'm guessing) and I'd imagine you have acres of torque to go with it.
What an awesome video, love the landy, great sound from the exhaust, good to know that you have a right foot and know how to use it, drive it like you stole it.
Those are the spotlights i want!! Iv finally found them :D Where do i get them from, how many watt are they and what exhaust system is that? cheers,Sam
The exhaust is stainless steel and custom made. The for lights on the roof are PIAA each 100 watts. the two in the middle of the radiator are HELLA Xenon (They bring the most light).
the defender is the best off road fullwheel drive car there is! i own one..you should come and test it on ecuador quito and on the coast..very good offroad sites. great video!
Servus!
Toller sound, kannst du mal genau schildern was du mit dem Auspuff gemacht hast?

Hi,
Is the high placed lights fitted on a roof rack or a special mount? I´m looking for a mount that will allow my D 90" a good set of lights over the windshield without adding too much to the height of the car... (Need to be able to go under 2.15m) and I only want a short roof-rack in the back end of the car (easily removed...)

@LandRoverWay23 ok no...Alabama and Virginia, not close enough. And Virginia is one of the few states in the US that only spends as much as it brings in. But whatever man. H1 >= Wrangler >= Landrover > everything else.
EazyE6793 1 year ago
@EazyE6793 Why is it that you even brought up the debt of the state I live in? Really? I looked it up and your state is in debt too buddy. H1..lol. Talk about an off road car you can afford like a sidekick, or something cheaper.
LandRoverWay23 10 months ago
@LandRoverWay23 You wooked it up!?! Good boy! I brought it up because you essentially said that where i live is to poor to afford a land rover. That is a dick head assumption. Now I'm not saying I'm rich or anything. I'm actually just a poor college student, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, working his way through college, doing something with his life, and not going around telling people that they're to poor to buy shit. So take your Ipad, shove it up your asshole, and get off of here.

"Where does exhaust and tire size come into play? OH- yeah, that's right, it doesn't-"
Jeh.. offroading with Street tires gives you the same grip as with Mud-Terrains.. Your ignorance makes you wrong.. Idiot.
SOTCHH90 2 years ago
Because I definitely didn't say *SIZE*, did I? :S
Try not entering in the middle of an argument trying to act like a smartass, because it's obvious you have no clue what he was referencing to or what I was implying with my comment.
So... Speaking of ignorance, that describes you absolutely PERFECTLY. LOL

Shut the hell up I've been off road with jeeps, landcruisers and rovers. so don't sit here and try and tell me which is better. take ur damn redneck pick up against lancruiser. and see who has better ability
bikerD15 2 years ago
I know my truck is far more capable than any Land Cruiser. LOL Fucking boats they are.
You've been offroad with all those vehicles at the age of 15 with no license and no car/truck/anything. You're a joke. Go play with your go-carts, kid.
Tboninator 2 years ago
Bullshit, no god damn truck can hold up against 4wd and diff locks. Oh and I'v taken my go kart places were jeeps have gone so thats little comment didn't really bother me. and so i don't fucking drive the car but being in it and experiencing it off road is the same.
bikerD15 2 years ago
LOL
Tboninator 2 years ago
No it wouldn't be better. But landcruisers are one of my top favorite 4x4's. I think land rovers and landcruisers are pretty even

thats a diesel right? i wish they had the diesel 90's over in the states
leakslikasieve 3 years ago
Yes it is a Diesel TD5 highly modified
From 125 to 188 measured Hp. Over here in Switzerland we always wanted in th 90's the US
V8 versions with the 4L engine. (Here are runnuing a few import cars from the US.
The Defenders with the "big" V8 were not sold here is this time. Then in the late 90's Land Rover sold the TD5. You see, what we wanted you had and then you wanted what we have... Thanks for your comment Andy

it always works that way. i hate ford, but i still want the euro fords. the mondeo, focus rs, falcon. they always refuse to bring the "good stuff"
leakslikasieve 3 years ago
Very nice video...wish I was there. What have you done to the TD5 exactly? 188hp is heaps (more usable power than the V8 by a long way I'm guessing) and I'd imagine you have acres of torque to go with it.

AS a fellow 90 Defender owner I would love to know what you did to the custom exhaust ? I will have a similar one made if you can tell me what to do.
Thanks.

The Exhaust is stainless steel the last part we chnaged that it commes out at the side of the car I also think we changed the middle muffler.

Those are the spotlights i want!! Iv finally found them :D Where do i get them from, how many watt are they and what exhaust system is that? cheers,Sam
graham878787 3 years ago
The exhaust is stainless steel and custom made. The for lights on the roof are PIAA each 100 watts. the two in the middle of the radiator are HELLA Xenon (They bring the most light).
andyswitzerland 3 years ago
Wow very nice movie! I think i need some chains too :D
erismann01 3 years ago

snow causeing the 4x4 to get

weirdalcrazy2timbuk3 3 years ago
i dont think so, small yes. good on gas
pepy 4 cyl, nice ground clearance, nice off
road. easy to manuver. top off the off road
class...no bottom of the off road class...no.
easy to get unstuck. but toyota seems to think
there is cause almost every toyota from 95ish
to 98ish? has a recall now..fram and rust isuues, but 95 and up is sapose to be rustproof. id buy another, im a pick up man,
no offense.
