White screen blackberry bold 9700

ehm, mine has been stuck like this for a week? i cant fix it by holding the screen and it says on the program nothing to install, i honestly have looked all over google but cant find anything, im 13 and cant go back to the shop so, iim kind of stuck with it, i can recieve calls and can hear the bbm tone, but i cant fix it by pushing the screen and P, please please someone help?

HEY guys the solution to this white screen and still we can recieved calls, is to change the screen, for short the screen is broken , mine right now after doing it, its working perfectly fine....

it took me about 70$ for every thing, but the catch is I sent it to my home land for repair in the Philippines, the other good thing about this is the screen was upgraded to a newer version.

Connect it to the blackberry desktop software and sync it, also add some new software. That Just worked for me!

I have to take my battery out, put it back in and push my thumbs into the bottom corners really hard and then it works until I lock it again :\ and then it goes back to white screen... at least I can use it when I want to though, but I think the only real, long term solution is to take it in for repairs.

I have good news, it's not it's not a hardware problem and no you need any updates. i have {bold 9700} i change the housing and when turn on the phone i got the white screen of death, i looked ever way for a do it yourself with no luck, anyway i then start to take the phone apart with the phone turned on when disconnect flex cord that runs to camera and sd card, the screen working like new. I the reconnect the flex and that was it.. good luck and let me know if this worked for you:)

if you are ordering a new screen you need to make sure you get the screen code right. there are 3 or 4 different codes ranging from 001/111 to 004/111. mine is 004/111 but a supply company sent me 002/111 and does not work. you will find the code on the reverse of the lcd screen. most supply companies stress that you must get the code correct so im guessing they keep your money and your screwed!

OMG it actually worked, i havnt had my phone for like 4 days and it sucked, i just pressed lock and then pressed the screen pretty hard in the bottom right hand corner and pressed the P key at the same time, then unlocked it and it came back on!!!! thats crazy, but how long is it gonna last? do i have to keep doing that if it goes white again? and its a new phone, i think blackberrys suck! anyway thanks a lot dude i have a phone again!!!

It's the LCD video data ribbon cable, the insulation gets cut by rubbing on a metal grounding stap located next to the cable and then electrically shorts the cable to ground. I disassembled mine, wrapped the ribbon cable with electrical tape, re-assembled and works fine now. I was getting the white screen of death constantly now it's perfect.

When mine goes white, i press the top key lock so the screen goes off, then i press down the screen right above 'end call', and the letter 'P', in hopes of wiggling the connector in the phone, can take several tries, after each press take keylock off to try and see if screen is back to normal. dont press end call as it lights screen.

@youngzbaron Eventually it worked, but kept reverting to broken. I had to hold down the screen to keep it working. Then I aimed my thumb a little to the left of the bottom right corner of the screen. Maybe just above where the "escape" or "back arrow" key meets the "end call" key. Now it works and has not gone back to garbled since I did this. I no longer need to hold down on the screen. You have saved my phone (and my wallet), muchas gracias to the original poster!

@youngzbaron the reason why the screen goes white is, when the screen is on, its generates heat creating a loose connection inside.. when the phone is cooled down the screen goes back to normal.. my advise is, take the back off the phone and exposing the battery (whilst on but locked so that the screen is black) and place on a cold glass surface ... either that or expose to a cool fan or general cold air. it is highly annoying. blackberry should fix the problem. hope this helps

Have the same issue.

Took the phone apart, the connection to the screen was solid.

un-connected it, then reconnected....still the same problem after I put it all back together.

I just ordered a new replacment screen off ebay ($35). I will install it in a couple days and let you know what happens. There was a place in town that would install a new screen for $115..

I know that if I took mine to "telus" they wanted $200 to fix it.

THERE ARE 4 CAUSES TO THIS PROBLEM

FIRST. SQUEEZE THE DEVICE WITH YOUR 2 FINGERS FROM THE LOCK/UNLOCK KEY AND THE MUTE KEY, IF THE SCREEN FLASHES THEN THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SCREEN AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED .

2. IF THE SCREEN DID NOT FLASH THEN THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE WITH THE BATTERY SO JUST HAVE IT REPLACED.

3.ALSO IF THE SCREEN DID NOT FLASH IT COULD BE A SOFTWARE ISSUE SO RELOAD THE OS.

4. IF RELOADING THE OS DID NOT WORK THEN IT MIGHT BE A SHORT FROM DA BOARD SO GO TO A REPAIR SHOP.

Hello, I verified that my 9700 was working thru screeenshots but have the white screen (with no clock), after several tries i discovered a small corto just on the cable from the display, so i places a smal piece of papel between the plain cable and the board... the screen started again to display

@nicklia I have the same problem but I found the way to fix it is to twist the phone (sounds weird) but i apply pressure onto the area djroughhouse said and it comes back to life after a few tries. I really can't be bothered to buy a disassembly kit to make the connection again manually.

@djroughhouse oh wow i havent looked at this since I posted! It is true that this is not permanent as i shortly learned after. Ended up replacing the screen with a broken BB from a good friend of mine. IN THE MEAN TIME if you can't get it to work, you can use applications such as Blackberry Master Control Program on your computer when your phone is connected via USB. There is a screen capture tool in there somewhere, and you just perform the navigation on the phone itself. Good Luck!

I checked mine again and it's the flatcable inside of the screen. To check if you blackberry is crashed , you have to use first : BBScreenstream . You can view you blackberry on your pc with just linking the usb into your blackberry to pc.

I've uploaded it specially for you to check and i hope it works for you to. IF your blackberry displays on your PC than you have to replace your blackberry display.

Hello, if you are a bit handy wit opening things then you should do this

Go on ebay and buy an new blackberry bold 9700 screen!

Then go to youtube and search for raplacing blackberry bold 9700 LCD

do the exact same thing and it should be working again!
