Legends, its just so amazing how this takes me back to being at school and going to our price records to buy the 12 inch singles of all the top bands for £1.99 if i remeber rightly! Now we have the cd single or download and theyre crap no new songs now extended mixes! I wish i had a time machine the 80's were amazing for music!
I remember recording this onto betamax ( Kids ask your parents) and then onto a C90 (once again go ask the olds) to play in the car.... and my evil wicked old hag of a stepmother taped corrie over the top of it.. i have never forgiven her for that!
what I meant to say also is that the comon you fuckers outburst is why there is no live footage of level 42 performing love games on the old grey whistle test and why the show is introduced with the classic heres some of their music(but no love games their breakthrough song)
if anyone was in brixton at this gig please post
pre digital age it gonna be rare footage that should be up there never heard 50 people make so much noise
i was there, the first song bombed , he looked nervous ran to the stage like a lunatic jumped up and down and screamed out comon you fuckers to all 50 of us, free tickets from the bbc, let out the first slap of love games and they went down in history, this was just after the riots too and was in brixton venue now called the fridge
This is the beauty of Level 42, their music is timeless!! What was happening years ago, still stands true today. Just listen to "The Sun Goes Down"! This is why their music will always stand the test of time! They are brilliant!!
Allways and still a fan, saw them open with this at the Coronet in Woolwich in 1985 when they recorded Physical Presence album live, was fantastic ,the original line up was great King,Lindup and the Gould brothers top notch, best live band going in there day.
This blew me away... Like people said here... musicianship of this level is few and far between these days... btw... is it just me or does Phil looks a bit like Kevin Bacon
I saw the Level 42 Boyz live in 2002 in York and they opened with this song, "Almost There". It was stunning. This is one of my favourite songs of theirs, and in that style in general. Good choice of opening number!
Really good? For me Mark King is the best slapper this world has ever seen! He's one of a kind. First time I saw him play I wanted to burn my bass in the chimney 'cause I realized I would never reach that level ...
I argued this months ago... you can hear it so clearly! Thats why i love these guys. As a kid they opened my ears. Sent me off to search deeper into music. In fact i respect them so much when you think they were only 23 on this. peace
love the chorus. So very very gd. I thaught with level 42 there was always a real message of uniting in music. I love these guys for making me ears and soul happy.
this is great...thanks soo much for this....I think Level42 are the most underated band ever. Their best stuff is their early tapes...man this is too good..!

THE CREDIT CRUNCH FORETOLD, NOW HERE THE WORDS OF THE FUNK PROPHETS
Keep the money moving
As long as we are using
Almost without knowing
Getting ego's burning
Freightend they stop turning
See the judge adjourning
Play your part and don't get in their way
There's no room for this type of song in modern music - Silence the prophets and feed the people lies!

what do you mean?
this "modern music" is some twenty and some years old
I may be missing your point
sorry if I am

演奏自体は非常に素晴らしいと思うが、カメラは一体どこをとっているんだ?
常にマークを撮ってろとは言わないが、せめて見せ場の時にはマークを撮っていてほしい。特に3:00のあたり。

The old grey whistle test..what a show!! We need to get back to this - the best bands playing live and "out there" on a studio tv show,
it seperates the men from the boys!!!!

Level 42 practically invented jazz fusion. This is a classic example of their work. The bass player is really good.

Check out Return to forever. Mahavishnu Orchestra. Herbie Hancock. Tony Williams Lifetime. Weather Report.
I love level 42, but they didn`t invent jazz Fusion. They did however love it create something new out of it. [my opinion of course]
doubts 3 years ago
Especially Return to Forever having Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke as admitted influences over Mark and Mike

I've seen your favourites...Jaco Pastorius (great!),Engine sounds, well this is music for english and italian people too!
flowerlike42 3 years ago
Yeah, if you think L42 invented jazz fusion, you need to take a music history course or something. They're not even close to the start
dekarthegreat 3 years ago
its not even really jazz fusion, its more part of the new wave movement with jazz fusion elements...
although they did take jazz fusion to its highest in mainstream music. sad that its not really what people want anymore :(
long live the king!

There are alot of them buried in the crap of the jam scene. You just have to weed yourself through alot of horse shit but there are some.

@canvoodoo Sadly, you're probably right. Musicians who take the time to develop their skills and craft songs. They're hard to find.
