@Indiaisgr8t I agree with you that Telengana has valid grievances. However this attempt to paint of picture of prosperity under the Nizam's rule is wrong. Telengana's problems partly stem from being under the Nizam's oppression. The other reason of the problem is the Naxal movement which has its roots in the peoples movement of 1946. But the Naxals today are anti development and are the cause for Telenganas backwardness. These problems wont be solved by a separate state, they will only increase

Now think, if the people of Andhra were fleecing Telengana, why is that money not being invested in any other Andhra town or city? AP has consistently got meager central funds and projects and central funds and infrastructure have invested in Hyderabad. eg - Railways, DRDO labs, ISRO, CSIR, BHEL, HMT, BDL etc etc.
@aryaditya80 All this Central government infrastructure and investements were pushed into Hyderabad by CM many of whom were from Rayalseema or Andhra. If the people of Andhra were greedy, they would have pushed these investments into Kurnool, Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam. CB Naidu also pushed for private investments in Hyderabad not elsewhere.

When the first REC was set up, it was in Warangal, Telengana, even though the then CM Sanjeev Reddy was from Ananthapur. Are these the signs of exploitation? Survey work on Nagarjuna Sagar had also begun during this time. Hyderabad, under the Nizam's, was the largest princely state in India. Area wise it was as big as England and Scotland put together. The State had its own currency, mint, railways, and postal system.
One of Nizam's first assignments after he ascended to throne was to take Mokshagundam Visweswaraiah's advice on how to control the floods and use the excess floodwater. He undertook work of embankment of the Musi River and constructed Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar Dams at Gandipet on Visweswaraiah's advice.

Lastly I dont think all the people from telangana want to separate as I have many friends from T- region. As an example in last greater HYd election nocontest fron TRS but Congress and MIM won even PRP and Loksatta won few seats. @Indiaisgr8t I agree with you that Telengana has valid grievances. However this attempt to paint of picture of prosperity under the Nizam's rule is wrong. Telengana's problems partly stem from being under the Nizam's oppression. The other reason of the problem is the Naxal movement which has its roots in the peoples movement of 1946. But the Naxals today are anti development and are the cause for Telenganas backwardness. These problems wont be solved by a separate state, they will only increase

Now think, if the people of Andhra were fleecing Telengana, why is that money not being invested in any other Andhra town or city? AP has consistently got meager central funds and projects and central funds and infrastructure have invested in Hyderabad. eg - Railways, DRDO labs, ISRO, CSIR, BHEL, HMT, BDL etc etc.

If the people of Andhra were greedy, they would have pushed these investments into Kurnool, Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam. CB Naidu also pushed for private investments in Hyderabad not elsewhere.

When the first REC was set up, it was in Warangal, Telengana, even though the then CM Sanjeev Reddy was from Ananthapur. Are these the signs of exploitation? Telengana is backward because of its politicians who are drawn from it's old feudal families. Take KCR, this 'Dubai Shekhar' comes from a feudal caste under the Nizams with a mentality of oppression.

The rule of the seven Nizam's saw the growth of Hyderabad both culturally and economically. Huge reservoirs, like the Nizam Sagar, Tungabadra, Osman Sagar, Himayath Sagar, and others were built. Survey work on Nagarjuna Sagar had also begun during this time. Hyderabad, under the Nizam's, was the largest princely state in India. Area wise it was as big as England and Scotland put together. The State had its own currency, mint, railways, and postal system.

Developments under his rule:
One of Nizam's first assignments after he ascended to throne was to take Mokshagundam Visweswaraiah's advice on how to control the floods and use the excess floodwater. He undertook work of embankment of the Musi River and constructed Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar Dams at Gandipet on Visweswaraiah's advice.

@Indiaisgr8t You are talking of just one Nizam. The other Nizams were scum and traitors. Golconda was actually a very small state for most of history. It was only by aligning itself with the British, that Golconda survived. In every conflict in the 19th century the Nizams sided with the British, most prominently against Tipu Sultan and the Marathas. Even in 1857 the Nizams remained staunchly loyal to the British, so much so that they were declared Britains 'Faithful Allies'. Scumbags.
