Haha is it more a guy thing? I know women who have clutter everywhere!! I like organizing and laundry so maybe it's a personality thing. :)
I like this video. Well I like all your videos!
The hard part is making a permanent lifestyle change. I find one tiny step at a time and keeping it up long enough for it to become habit and then taking on another tiny thing. I think that's how I've kept my weight from going back up. It took a long time to lose it but it's staying down.
I just had to watch this video again. I'm getting my spark back again. I've been looking at my household very critically these days. I'm about to remodel a lot of shit and take small steps to straighten up. My desk is still messy.
I slowly worked my way around my house and it's now a pleasure to open the curtains in the morning lol. It's awesome your getting your spark back. Between you and Terry and Bangstun as motivators the group should fire up like never before!
Oh my goodness!! THIS IS SO TRUE!! I have noticed this when I go out with men. If their car or home is a mess, they (mind, body, spirit) usually are too!! LOL LOL Since I am an artist, my house is "creative". This effects my mindset positively the minute I walk in the door. Freekn, this is a very WISE and BRILLIANT video!!! Thank you!!
That's pretty much me! I guess we have to constantly work on it as it does creep up on you. I noticed you had a lot of happy bright colours in your house!
I don't think it's a 'guy' thing; I think guys are just more apt to admit it. :) Gals have lots of pretty baskets and boxes to toss the clutter into..and it's amazing how the mess disappears when you toss some lovely afghans over it! *smile*
You've inspired me to do my Spring cleaning an entire season early. Happy Tidy New Year!
Truer words were never spoken. When I began this about eight months ago, much of my physical activity involved projects around the home. It snow balled from there. I am a firm believer in creating a healthy environment.
I really felt all those little 'One thing at a times' helped to keep my motivation in all things going. Especially since with weight loss we don't see a constant result, with doing these little things we do see immediate results and have some measure of control over our lives as well.
Actually, your video really helped. I did the same thing yesterday after I watched it. Picking up things here and there and before I knew it, my place was cleaned! lol :)
Exactly we need to change our mindset. I didn't gain weight over night.. it took me years to do it. Ya know its a small thing.. but I cut hair short.. I've had it long for a while and usually to hide my double chin.. I like it short but hated to cut it. I started my diet a month ago and needed a change. I've had to de-clutter my environment!!!
You have an uncanny ability to talk...and talk...and talk....
I've gotta say though, you make more than just a lick of sense. I too find a clean, neat, and organized environment rather enjoyable, relaxing, and invigorating for both the mind and body. 'Tis far easier to do something clean for myself when the atmosphere around me is already clean.
Good video!
-Josh
PS: If you didn't have that accent of yours, I probably wouldn't have lasted the entire video. Aussies rock!
I can't quote Bill Phillips enough: "Gain control of your body, and you will gain control of your life." I, too, believe the two go hand in hand. Throwing "stuff" away is my way of feeling better.. I get a garbage bag and for 20 minutes run through the house throwing stuff away. It feels SO good. :) My motto is "I can do anything for 20 minutes." Each 20 minutes adds to a super clean house.
Now that is great idea! Much better than doing a bit at a time and as you say 'You can do anything for 20 minutes'. And cleaning itself makes you sweat a bit so it's 20 mins of excersize!

Very well said--one thing at a time really does help the mind set, and it's the most important indicator of success!

Not really saying anything we all don't already know but I often find it's as helpful to share our faults as well as our successes.

I did exactly the same thing Martha. Often that change of just cutting our hair gives a huge boost. A change is as good as a holiday.

You make great points. A few minutes here and a few minutes there can accomplish huge things.

It's something I think we all definitely already know. The more ideas we can all put out there the more easily we can handle our weight loss journey.

I agree. That's my biggest problem as well. Mine's 12 feet long and it looks the same. My car and bedroom are the same way. You're absolutely right.
