  • Spine tingling. I love this man. Why didn't they let him sing on My fair lady? They just don't make men like this anymore.

  • been listening to this all night...abit hesitant to go to bed as i dont want to stop listening to this <3

  • Still in Love with you

  • THE REAL MASTER OF THE ART! BEST COMPLIMENTS...BRAVO! GREETINGS FROM SERBIA & CHEERS / НАЗДРАВЉЕ !!!

  • I love him, with all my heart <3 He was wonderful actor and singer... And i love his beautiul, gorgeous eyes <3 The Best Sherlock Holmes Ever!!!

  • Good God! Why can't I live the same period with great actors like Jeremy Brett?

  • we miss u jeremy

  • Excellent - didn't know he could sing as fine as this - uplifting not at all sad

  • the best Holmes ever

  • This is absolutely stunning and heartbreaking at the same time. A truly wonderful singer, actor and very talented man. Well done with this video. Its amazing.

P.S. To anyone who is involved in the "Jeremy Brett was gay/no he wasn't he had a wife" arguement, I say this. Jeremy Brett was bisexual. He liked (and loved) both men and women. Not that it makes a tiny bit of difference to his talent.

A truly remarkable human. Sadly missed. R.I.P

  • @BonJovifan83 Thanks for saying this. I really tire of this 'argument'. Let's just remember with some respect everyone he loved and who loved him, male and female, and be glad that he was capable of finding affection from people throughout his life. And he was a remarkable and talented man, you're absolutely right.

  • What a lovely voice - and he definitely sang the intro to the Street Where You Lived - those rolled R's are his no doubt which gives you a real idea of his lovely singing voice. He had it - heart and soul and it was a tragedy he was dubbed. Thats the first pic i have seen with his wife and son - he was such a gentleman and he loved his family from all accounts. He is sadly missed.

  • Yes Jeremy Brett did have a lovely , & sung very well with JUNE BRONHIL, one of ours greatest soprano .I' afraid there are very few soprano that can surpass JUNE BRONHILL.

& what Starwarsqueen1992 sid about JB , it untrue he was married & had a son .

  • @hmoyra

JB liked both men and women (as a matter of record), and why not, eh? Spread the wealth!

  • Jeremy was not only a GREAT actor.,.but such a wonderfull human person! Learn about him! Jou have to read..learn..about such a spes.human person! We..all our family...seems he are ..not was..but ARE an incredibble person..and such an actor! All our love ..to his soon ! So much oblige to you Jeremy! We,ll meet again! That,s for sure!

  • i have to say that my favorite Holmes is Basil Rathbone, but Jeremy Brett is awesome too :)

  • Not a bad voice! I can't understand why was he dubbed in My Fair Lady.

  • I need to see him as Holmes....

  • @websterkntz7 YOU MUST!

  • he had a beard but you could'nt see it

  • He so wasn't gay - he was married twice and after his second wife's death, he was absolutely devastated...It does somewhat reinstate your faith in the male sex that such a wonderful man could be and he might actually be obtainable by a woman!!! xoxox

  • Adorable man..such a great a man..the best of actors and Such a VOICE! And..the BEST SHERLOCK HOLMES EVER! Love him! R.i.p Jeremy Brett!

  • Beautiful video of a great actor who is sorely missed.

  • you will be dearly missed !!!!!!

  • JBwas gay? I doubt it he was definitely the best Holmes ever and he could sing like an angel btw is this him singing?

  • No, he wasn't gay: he was married twice and had three children, I think. His second wife died before they'd been married ten years and he was devastated about it....

    Such a man!

  • @Starwarsqueen1992 He was married to twice... I doubt that he was gay... o_O

  • @MaritaKunnari Yes, because bisexual people don't exist. Funny, I could swear I saw my son the other week, *eyeroll*

  • @Starwarsqueen1992 There's nothing wrong with being gay, don't be stupid. Yes, this is him singing.

  • So what if he was gay or not? That doesn't matter after all these years that have passed without him. He's dead and you should be more respectful to someone that cannot defend himself... unless you are an homophobic.

  • i agree

  • *swoons*

    Jeremy Brett~

  • Jeremy Brett was not gay, Peter Firth surely.

¡¡That evil is the envy !!

  • It seems to be very important to you to keep repeating this statement on JB videos. I wonder why?

  • Is it a good reason enough? Especially in memory of his two wives, and the last woman who was with him until his end?

  • Did he really go to such lengths to cover up his homosexuality? Was it because of his mental illness?

  • What the hell is the link between homosexuality and mental illness?

He was married just to hide his homosexuality?!? o_O

  • @izou136 I don't believe he married just to hide his homosexuality. I heard him speak in an interview about his second wife. They fell instantly in love at first sight. He spoke about the tight bond they had with each other. He mourned her death very greatly. People said about them that they were as one with each other, they could finish each others sentences when speaking. It is very touching to hear him speak about her, very moving to see his grief at her loss.

  • Thank you all for your lovely comments. Revisiting this video has reminded me of his wonderful career and beautiful life, and it's nice to have these sentiments to read along with that feeling.

Jeremy will live forever--not just in his Holmes or his singing, but in the memories and discoveries like these. Thanks.

  • My fav pic is at 1:54... he has an amazing smile!

  • An increddible beautifull and most excellent actor that shall always be missed dearly.

    Great compilation thank you kindly.

    Warms my heart.

  • WHY did I not find this before I got married?! I wanted this song as our first dance, but couldn't find a decent English version - this would have been wonderful!

  • Im cying!!!! Oh my gosh he has such a beautiful voice! I love Jeremy Brett, and its so sad that he died at such a young age. We miss you JB!!!

  • what's that disgustingly jarring and shrill female voice spoiling his beautiful rendition. WHo the f*&k is that? He should have done it as a solo.

  • Wasn't jarring at all. Perfectly good soprano voice. You obviously don't know much about singing. And it's supposed to be a love duet.

  • Of course you have sarah brightman on your page I see. I certainly do not know about shrivelly nosey thin singing with infraoptimal (voice) productions and am so much the gladder for it.

  • HOW RUDE!!!

JUNE BRONHILL was one of the most amazing sopranos of her era. what an idiotic comment and how hugely disrespectful. along with other Australian sopranos such as Dame Joan she was very highly recognised and still is. I'm sure this here is not the best clip of her own amazing talents.

  • Well, I hope not ... if you indeed compare her to Sutherland ... but I speak on the basis of this piece and I stick to my guns ... displeasing most displeasing.

  • WHOA!!!! You mean that was him singing?!!! Then why the heck did they dub his voice in "My Fair Lady"?!!! Stupid Hollywood. I will always love this man.

  • They didn't dub his voice in My Fair Lady, he was just younger and had a different voice then. ♥

  • yes they did.

  • yes they did

  • They did, & the dubber was Bill Shirley.

  • LOVE HIS VOICE! its so soothing and wonderful! At 1:13 i have the book that is in his hands. and its funny. I have tons of papers put in it becuase thats my insperation for my writing!!

  • Wow ! What a wonderful voice ! I sang very well ! (it's a pity that he's dead... it was too early)

    Thanks for posting !

  • Lovely tribute from someone who obviously knows his work very well :)

  • Am I the only one who thinks he'd have made a stunning Phantom of the Opera?

  • OH God!! how many times have I fantasized and pictured him in that role!...*daydreams*

  • that would have been pure brilliance. *goes on to fantasize said image*

  • @praguephotog

Of course, he would! And I'm sure he'd have made a great swashbuckler.

I wonder why D'Artagnan was his only swashbuckling hero role. He could play many other heroes like him, but Hollywood didn't ever give him chances & covered him with two American veils. Once the veil was Mel Ferrer(War and Peace), and the other time it was Bill Shirley(My Fair Lady).

  • omg. he had beautiful vioce! Thank you for this vid, it's great.

  • Thank you so much for posting this!

  • is that Jeremy Brett singing. the vid is sweet love it.

  • Yes, it´s him singing:-)

  • OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!

At 1:11!!!! The COMPLETE SHERLOCK HOLMES TREASURY he has is the same as mine!!!!!! That is SOOOO COOOOOL! And mine is falling apart too!!!!!!!!

  • I've got that version too!!! One of my favorite posesions!

  • That soprano sings really well. Good song.

  • June Bronhill was THE Merry Widow as far as English language widows go. She gives many German widows a run for their money also. Rest in Peace, June. :-)

  • You can find the song reuploaded on the livejournal community jeremybrett

  • I think he was wonderfull! I like him. Thanks for this video.

  • Indeed! The song is so beautiful! Jeremy Brett was great! Thank you very much for posting this! Please can someone send me this wonderful song?

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THIS SONG!!! I have looked EVERYWHERE and I can't find it!

  • You can go to the livejournal community jeremybrett and in one of the archived posts a very kind person has posted all of the songs from this edition of The Merry Widow which included Jeremy's voice for download. They may have expired, but you can always request for them to be reposted. The folks there are very obliging. =)

  • Also if you're just looking for the song itself without brett it is from lehar's the merry widow. there are a number of very good recordings out there. also undoubtedly so stuff on you tube. Beverly Sills of course does a great rendition which is here on youtube.

  • do you have any video clips from his merry widow? i would love it if you would post them if you do indeed have them! ^_^

  • Oh, lord, I wish I did, but I've never even seen any visuals of him in this role. Sorry. =(

  • Holy tamoli!!! is this brett singing! wow... i never he knew he was so good... i mean when i was little i took it forgranted that he sang fredie until i was heartbroken to find out otherwise, then i just asumed that while he could sing it was not perhaps at a professional level... but WOW! i think i'd have rather had if sing fredie than whoever dubbed him...ahhh JB-_-

  • Thank you I've always liked Jeremy Brett as an actor and he's always has and always will be my favorite Sherlock.

  • the best sherlock holmes ever. the only actor who appeared to have read the books and captured the feline, mercurial, and obsessive holmes we all know so well. congratulations on a moving tribute.

  • This broke my heart! An incredibly moving tribute to a magnificent man. RIP Jeremy!

  • Where did you find this recording?!

He has such an amazing voice!!! It's a shame he didn't do his own singing in 'My Fair Lady'.

  • The best actor the world has ever seen. Thank you for posting this.

  • Oh absolutely. And a century earlier when Conan Doyle sat down and penned his Sherlock Holmes novels he was thinking of Jeremy Brett I'm sure...

A truly, magnificent actor and human being.

  • A bit cheesy at the end...but generally well done! Jeremy Brett was an amazingly talented and versitile actor. He imself claimed that only got his most interesting parts after he broke his nose, and damaged the traditionally good looking face, that we see here on the slide show, he possessed iin his youth. I only really know him from playing Holmes and in my fair lady, but I know from this just how amazing an actor he was...

  • the world´s best actor!!

  • oh my god I'm crying this video is so wonderful and jeremy sings so well! what an actor, what a man...

  • grt grt actor

  • Thank you so much for this video!

You've found some really wonderful pictures.

  • Great video! I didn't realize that it was Jeremy singing until I read through the comments that people wrote. That's such a pretty song. You've got some great photos. Great job!

  • Hey, Just wanted to know if you know of anywhere I could possibly download this song to put on my mp3 please? Would be grateful if anyone could help me on this matter :)

  • Jeremy's tracks from the merry widow

  • community.livejournal.com

    community: jeremy brett

  • Thanx so much for this! I am an absolutely huge fan of Jeremy and as an aspiring actress I truly admire him for being one of the finest actors this world has ever been blessed with, but above all for being the wonderful, amazing and compassionate man that he was! It really does seem that his love knew no bounds and it is such a treat to hear him sing! Just like everything else he did his voice is truly beautiful and as a singer I would love to have sung with him! This is a beautiful tribute!

  • Really such a treat to hear him sing to your lovely montage - thanks.

  • yes its a shame i love jeremy brett as sherlock holmes i havent seen him in my fair lady and mcbeth etc tho

  • Jeremy FOREVER.

I think he would make a great Dracula too!

He did it on stage, but never on television.

    That's a shame, isn't it?

Anyway, this video is beautifully made.
