I wouldn't want to work as an engineer (as I do professionally) completely in the box.

I agree, analogue is better in a different way. But people do not UNDERSTAND the power of software. Plugins these days are so powerful. A real engineer can achieve incredible quality sounds just but using plugin compressors, de-essers, gates, EQs, FX....... only the trained ear can tell. Not just anyone though.
