  • Damn this is so sad =( one day here next day gone rest in peace buddy.

  • Finally, i find a nice gamer who os calm and makes good reviews and likes all kinds of games, and he dies... RIP

  • Posted today on the Child's Play facebook page regarding the donation made by the memorial fund: "Gamer, game reviewer, and cherished friend, Stephen 'Anti-Social Fatman' Bray passed away in October of 2011. His family, friends, and community have united to honor him by donating to Child's Play in his memory. We are deeply thankful for this support, and his legacy will make a lasting impact in children's lives."

I thought you'd all like to see that. Thanks so much for your support and kindness.

  • Rest In peace man

  • wow, i feel so bad that i didnt know about this sooner! asfm was the biggest breath of fresh air the youtube gaming community has ever had and he will be missed dearly. my girlfriend always liked listening to his voice as she was doing other things around the house, as the way he spoke was so passionate, articulate, insightful with brilliant delivery, and a complete pleasure to listen to. i am so sorry for his friends and family my thoughts are with them. x

  • Rip mate, good reviewer, one of the best out there. 27 is to young, I'm 26 and it makes me stop and think. They say all the best go a 27 so I guess you'll be hanging with Hendrix.

  • stupid fuckin pansy ass pulmonary embolism can go fuck it self up the ass with a chainsaw

  • if antisocialfatman died then who uploaded this?

  • @YOJONON we are his friends, and we uploaded it with permission from his mother, who now has control of this account.

  • @brandyhemsley then whos gonna review the games?

  • @YOJONON seriously? *That*s what's bothering you? He's gone, who could possibly review the games on his behalf?

  • @Begeaux someone needs to do it.Come on you guys, who is up to the task?

  • @YOJONON As far as I know, there won't be any more videos added to this channel, but I think there was some talk a while back of people reviewing the games he never got to, as a tribute to him. I think it's a nice idea if people are still interested in doing it.

  • @brandyhemsley mabye someone could do reviews for him

  • R.I.P Stephen! You were an awesome reviewer, your narration in your Amnesia review was really fluent and nice to listen to! I hope you have the best console up in heaven! Dying at 27 is just unfair.

  • When I first saw this on October 25, I felt like crying and still do every time I watch it.

  • The man who introduced System Shock 2 and Half Life to me...

Stephen will live on in the memories of gamers who were fortunate enough to listen to him.

  • in honor of him, he died right beofore SOPA.

i bet he would be a protester.

    rest in heaven, fair reviewer.

  • I've been subscribed for a long time, somehow only found this now, really sorry, RIP.

  • Sad news, I really liked his reviews.

    So it goes.

  • Oh man, I just found his account 2 days ago and now with the credits of Jin-Roh in the background this appears quite dramatic. Hope this is no promotion joke. Sad If it's true. Really like his style.

  • Wow my dad passed away when he was 27 from a heart attack wierd R.I.P

  • I'm leaving him on my sub list. Just because he's gone doesn't mean we have to forget him. Any time you meet someone who might be interested in one of the games he reviewed or any time you need to be reminded why it is we love games so much, come here. Any time you want to be reminded that there are good people out there, come here, cus even tho he's gone, the mere fact that we had someone like him in this world should prove that good people ARE born into this world. Remember to appreciate them

  • Aw..hell. :/ I'm so sorry. My sympathies go out to his family. I only chatted with him a little..i'm glad I got to say thank you and let him know how happy his vids made me. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • @jamesminnow

Same here. I was looking at his HL1 review and came to this. I hope he's in a better place. May he rest in peace.

  • Respectfully....wow...this is random. People really do live and die I guess. Too bad. I kinda liked his review style. Oh well. Moving on....

  • DAMMIT!! It's not fair :(

  • shit man, i just stumbled across this great reviewer and now hes just dead, fuuck

  • "The light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long. And you have burned so very, very brightly."

One of the best and most intelligent game reviewers of his time. RIP, Stephen.

  • I am very sorry to hear this terrible news. He made great reviews that were very honest and full of wit. I hope that he rests in peace.

  • Hello, this Christmas has been particularly difficult for Stephen's sister and I. However it has been comforting to know that we have reached the $1000 mark with the donations for his games. I would like to say a big thank you to those of you who have already given and to those of you who have pledged.

  • RIP :(

  • Oh my gosh. I had no idea. Either I was out of town when this was uploaded or youtube decided not to show this in my sub box, but here I am nearly a month later just finding out.

I may have not known him outside of his reviews, but I will say he was damned good at making them. It's a shame since he had so many plans for this channel. Youtube will be missing out on one of the most talented reviewers it ever had. At least his videos will live on for others to enjoy. Rest in peace Mr. Fatman.

  • Damn, I just started playing video games and you are gone. Sigh... I hope, you are in a better place. You probably got a wicked system by now in heaven. You will be missed my friend.

  • I am sad that I have only just discovered this incredible review channel. I will be watching all of them eventually. RIP, you shall be missed.

  • Insitful intelligent reviews. A sad loss

  • by miss u

  • R.I.P dude, I discovered your HL1 review 10 minutes ago, if you're up there, I want you to know that that was the best analysis of any video game I've ever seen on YouTube, hope you're in a better place.

  • RIP Stephen.

  • RIP.

  • Comment removed

  • I can't believe it...

  • This really is a sad time for all of us and especially those who knew him personally it is really sad that he died but i at least hope it was painless.

  • I'm crying.

  • RIP, Stephen. The world lost a good reviewer in you. :-(

  • Man...he was seriously one of the only people who had an original taste for games, and he was always able to articulate his often non-mainstream opinions really well. One could sense that this was a guy who was intelligent and, well, original. It fucking sucks he died. Really fucking sucks.

  • This news completely ruined my day, Long time fan here that recently noticed I have not seen him pop up in my sub box in a while, check his channel to find this video :(

  • Fuck this world!

  • This came to me out of no where and is a terrible shock. Even though I didn't know Stephen, I could tell he was witty, fair and intelligent and he will be sorely missed.

  • He was funny, articulate and insightful. The world of gaming criticism will be poorer without him.

  • This is really sad, he made some excellent vids. My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP

  • It's hard to believe he's gone

  • Noooooooooo!

  • He was my favorite reviewer, such a sad loss:(

  • NO! I was a big fan of Anti-Social Fatman! I loved his reviews. :*(

  • OHH MY LORD RIP :(

  • I literally came across his reviews for the first time about 30 minutes ago, I was baffled by the RIP comments I was seeing below, his first review I watched was for amnesia. Truly brilliant review and a fantastic reviewer, it's a shame I only found him out so recently... Respect to him, his friends and family!

  • We've lost a great reviewer. Always smart and informative.

  • This is pretty weird, did he died because he was sitting down for too long or something?

  • @LunaVorax He had a pulmonary embolism (though we initially thought it was a heart attack).

  • @laifalbert I KNOW I just asked the causes of the embolism.

  • fucking shit fuck fuck fuck, im depressed.

  • No more great video reviews for neither people or youtube any longer...=( I recommended this guy to my friend for his reviews just hours before I found out he had died...

  • I am really sad about this. He was one of my favorite reviewers on Youtube. One who had the balls to speak out his opinion even it was not mainstream. I always respected his opinion, even if I did not agree with him because of his carefully crafted argumention. It was always a delight for me to hear him speak about games.

  • He sure loved his fundamentals :(

  • i honestly looked up to him. i now regret not building up the courage to play a game with him over steam. his words brought laughter and a deeper understanding to my life. i often would watch his reviews more than 10 times each. i showed his videos off to friends and loved the bright glow of delight they gave to the people who watched them. We miss you Steven. a hole is left in our hearts that will never be filled.

  • RIP :(

Best reviewer on the internet. Hands down.

  • That is terrible news. My commiserations - we really enjoyed his insightful work on Youtube; he will be missed dearly.

  • Pulmonary Embolism ≠ Heart Attack

Just something I needed to throw out there.

    RIP, Stephen.

  • Wow, I'm in shock, he had the best reviews with his unique style, he will be missed. RIP

  • All I have to say is I have never been more sad for the loss of someone who I never personally knew. RIP Stephen

  • my condolences to his friends and family. stephen was an amazing person. he will be missed.

  • This man made a huge impact on my life. I had never played PC video games before watching his review of Dawn of War. I got a rig and have been playing ever since. I love you man, i'm gonna miss your voice ridiculing even the most perfect of games. I based my name on your name. You did not deserve to die this early in your life. RIP

  • One of the best reviewers around. He'll be missed.

  • So sad. To see some one you know die. Even if it was from the internet.

His critical and insightful reviews will be missed. I wish him the best.

  • He was a major inspiration in my life.

I realize that statement is usually said with atleast partial hyperbole, but he really did change my views on critical thinking, writing and objectively viewing a scenario.

My biggest regret right now is never telling him that.

  • One of the best reviewers around. His videos were always well thought-out, insightful and with a right dose of criticism.

    He will be missed.

    RIP.

  • I'm thinking I should Unsubscribe, it only makes sense since no more videos will be uploaded but, it feels wrong somehow. I don't want to just forget about this channel and move on like it never happened. But, having it there in my list makes me sad every time I log on. Hmmm... What's everyone else doing? Staying around for a little while?

  • @mrnicktoyou I'm leaving him on my sub list.

  • I can't express how much I'm going to miss him. I'm very picky about my reviewers and he was one of the few who not only made the cut, but excelled in his intelligent reviewing. There are so many games I would never played and enjoyed if not for him. I'm still touched that he reviewed Cthulhu at my request. While I'm sure I wasn't the only one to request it, I still felt special anyway. Please rest in peace, and thank you for the joy that you gave me.

  • Did he make it to live 10.000 days? Someone calculate when his 10.000th day was.

  • @schtolteheim Didn't quite make it. According to my calculations, his 10,000th day would have been about 15 days after he died.

  • he seemed like a great person. his reviews were some of my favorites.

  • I don't get it... why the two dislikes?

  • @LLLookAtYouHacker I'm assuming they're unhappy that he's gone.

  • I'm crying right now. You will be missed.

  • I'm just in shock. His reviews were the best, and I was always exited when a new review was published by him. Thank you for your amazing work and dedication to the gaming community. RIP.

  • I first discovered fat man's video reviews through his Half Life video. It was so good that I quickly watched every other one of his videos and subscribed. With games getting such a bad rep by the mainstream media, some of us gamers just want to discuss our opinions and experiences about the medium in an intellectual and thoughtful manner and this is how fatman operated. Deeply saddened and dumbstruck by his most untimely death. My thoughts are with the family.

    Rest in Peace Stephen.

  • To antisocialfatman's family and friends, I can only offer my deepest condolences. I have only just learnt of his name tonight, but I can feel how highly regarded he was as a gamer.

Even if no no reviews will come about now, I will still subscribe and watch.

And only 27... that's as terrifying as it's heartbreaking. I'm only 26 myself.

  • I can't believe it, Stephen's videos were among my most anticipated here on youtube. His reviews and commentary were incredibly insightful and eloquent. Much more so than any "professional" reviewer I've ever heard or read. He deserved a long and successful life, this is a tragedy and he will be dearly missed by his fans like me. R.I.P. Stephen, love from Sweden.

  • No...I can't believe it. I always enjoyed his reviews incredibly. They were funny, smart and most of all, had character. I will always remember him and may his memory live on through his followers and the community. May he rest in peace.

  • oh god no, i saw the vid title in my inbox and i just couldn't believe it. He was without a doubt one of the best reviewers not just on youtube but in general. I have come across very few people who could express themselves as efficiently as Stephen could.

My heart goes out to his friends and family. I never met him personally but I will still miss him very here on youtube.

  • Best game reviewer who ever graced the internet with his presence..My deepest condolence to his family and loved ones...

  • may God Rest your soul brother!

  • So sad to hear this terrible news! Fatman will be missed dearly, I loved his gameplay and reviews and it feels like there is going to be something missing now on youtube that was there before. The truly sad thing is he looked quite fit and yet this still happened to him..and I see people 4x his size walk around and be fine. Its truly sad, and he will be missed!

  • Sorry to hear that :(

    Thanks for letting us know

  • well, this makes me sad. he was a smart, thoughtful, funny reviewer, and I always looked forward to his videos. this Southern California viewer is mourning his passing. condolences to his close friends and family.

  • The world has become less, because if this...

    you will be missed .

    Rest on peace :*(

  • Such a great loss, I'm so sorry. He really knew his stuff - it was, and will always be, a pleasure to watch and learn from his reviews.

  • No

  • Even though I've never met him I still feel devastated by the news of his passing. RIP mate.

  • Unexpected tragedy, I'll miss your insightfull comments and funny remarks...

  • Very sad to hear this. I've been enjoying Stephen's reviews for a few years now and he was always insightful, fair, and above all, entertaining. I will miss listening to his reviews. 27 is far too young.

  • Stephen Bray - "Anti-Social Fatman" - était un talentueux vidéo-testeur amateur. Mes condoléances à sa famille et à ses amis.

  • RIP Stephen, your reviews were a highlight of my week and gave your fans some of the most well informed and insightful criticisms of games I have ever known.

My condolences to Stephen's family and friends, he will be missed but never forgotten.

  • Never seen this channel before but I like his videos that I just watched.

There's no point in subscribing if no more videos are going to come out , too bad because I want to subscribe and see more videos from him

  • RIP bro... You will be missed

  • Holy crap man :<

Just now I was watching reviews for Monkey Island 1 & 2 SE, and I really liked his review, specially his rant about game history oblivious current-gen gamers, the older generation pissed at total-makeover sequels like FO3, and the clash between the 2 demographies. So I went to his channel -for the very first time- to check his other stuff, only to find this :(((

Though I've just known him now, I will never forget him. May God have mercy on his soul, and may he RIP.

  • This was the guy i went to for all my game reviews, hell i didn't even watch them because i planned on buying them..... just to hear his awesome voice...... He will be missed.

  • mfsa. The guy I knew in Gamespot who's got the balls to speak his mind and his analysis is always awesome.

    Oh Stephen. we'll miss you.

  • wow. this made me fell really strange

  • i was hoping that this would be some kind of joke, which it clearly is not.

youtube is overloaded with crappy gameplay videos these days, but his stuff was actually thought-provoking and insightful. i could tell he was an intelligent and introspective person, someone who i would have gravitated toward had i known him personally.

  • How about, as a community. We club together to review all the games on his to review pile? Rip stephen.

  • @stuffwork1 This is a nice idea, and some people on the antisocial fatman forums have talked about this. If you look there you may be able to connect with others who are interested in the project.

  • HEY IM 27! :'( i hope to not end up this way. my sincere condolences

  • A sad day for the world.

  • He had a unique and thoughtful insight into games and had me thinking about them years after playing them. I'm so sad I will never see a new review and my heart goes out to anyone lucky enough to know him IRL. He can live on through his viewers who now hold a much higher standard of video review thanks to all he has taught us. RIP ASFM

  • I really enjoyed his reviews, he will be missed. I am really really sorry. Goodbye Stephen

  • My God...no... :(

  • :'(

  • wow...... this is unreal...... He was an amazing person. I'm gonna miss him :(

  • Whoever disliked this can go to the deepest level of hell made just for trolls. Burn in hell disliker.

  • Damn, this is so unexpected & weird. And the gaming community has indeed lost a great value.

  • What the hell man, guy wasn't even fat? How did he have a heart attack? I am so confused and scared right now...

  • @GigaBoost He didn't have a heart attack - that was just what some people thought right after he died. He died from a pulmonary embolism.

  • RIP

he was one of the greatest reviewers of all time...

  • R.I.P...

  • This is so sad... He was always my favorite game reviewer... Rest in peace.

  • Wow....I mean, I only have watched some of his reviews....but wow....This is hitting me surprisingly hard......he always came across as a great guy, Rest in Peace Stephen

  • I love you man, rest in peace

  • I really enjoyed his reviews :(

  • RIP brother.

  • I'll always remember him

  • He wasn't just a dear friend, but an inspiration to me and hundreds of others.

He was arguably the most influential person in my life. Not only did he get me on my own path to game reviewing, but he taught me so much about critical thinking and discussion, and it affected my outlook on the whole world, not just games.

I'll miss him so much, but we still have the community that he has started. You should all join and continue the amazing things that he has inspired all of us to do.

  • For anyone interested, here's another photo of him that a friend had posted on the forums:

    i.imgur[dot]com/rzkxf.jpg

  • Game in Peace Stephen

  • RIP man, i really loved your reviews

  • Ow, thas really bad, i will miss his special voice comments...

  • R.I.P.

  • He had great insight into game design that he showed with all of his reviews. He will be missed.

  • Rest in Peace, Stephen. Your reviews were very helpful and you were a very intelligent man. My condolences go out to Stephen's family.

  • Oh no :(

ASF was honestly one of the very best reviewers of games or anything I've ever come across, he did more than just review, he analysed and it was often really brilliant. He will be missed ˘___˘

  • Thank you for all your wonderful comments. Stephen was in real life as he was in his videos and I couldn't have asked for a more considerate and caring son. He was non-judgemental, he liked everyone, he was thoughful, patient, tolerant and loving. Stephen also had a wonderful sense of humour. He is deeply missed but through the website which was set up by his friends he will live forever. Bless you all.

  • Really? Fucking hell. Godspeed, brother.

  • Sad news indeed. Goodbye antisocialfatman, you were my number one source for insightful reviews on games.

  • R.I.P You were one of my most trusted sources for reviews.

  • Just found out, may he rest in peace. Great man, wonderful voice. Please keep coping.

  • my sincerest condolences.

  • Something about this just makes me feel so sad....I got onto his videos around a month ago and it just makes me sad that I never got to personally speak with this man, and I'm sure if I did it would have been an interesting conversation. R.I.P. ASFM We miss you.

  • OMG, I still can not believe this! What a waste for a guy like him to die so young!

    Rest in Peace, Stephen. (;_;)/~~~

  • R.I.P

  • If he was in person how he was in the reivews, then there is a loss of a great person. I always loved his videos, and there is a great loss in the gaming world now.

  • Your son made my day better when he posted, and I frequently went back to his old videos to watch them again. He was always incredibly nice and respectful and this seriously just sucks. You know he made an amazing impact during his life when he left a mark on thousands of people around the world who only shared his life in 15 minute segments. I can't begin to imagine how great it must have been to share his entire life with him, or how devastating it was when it was cut short. This really sucks.

  • This is the first time one of the people I`m subscribed actually die.Stephen , you will be missed.I wish his family and friends strength.

  • This is a tremendous shock to me, I was wondering when his next review was to be posted. His deep insights and no-holds-barred reviews were an inspiration, and were the reason I bought many games. His spirited words and profound knowledge will be missed by many.

  • RIP Stephen and strenght to his friends and family. I always enjoyed his videos a lot, this is very sad news.

  • Youtube, you have lost a bright spark.

    Thank you Stephen, for everything.

  • Well, that's downed my day.

    Sorry for everyones loss.

  • Well damn....

His reviews were better then about every comercial reviewing site.

  • R.I.P This is one of (if not the) best game reviewers in youtube.

  • Im so sorry for your loss, he added an excellent viewpoint in his game reviews and guides. I enjoyed his videos alot and he will be missed.

    RIP.

  • thank u anti-social for all your reviews u will be missed r.i.p

  • You will be missed Stephen. I really enjoyed your reviews.

  • ...No... This isn't... Damn.

  • Damn that sucks :(

  • Thanks to this man alone I discovered vvvvvv and world of goo. One of which provided more fun than Ive had from any single player video game in a long time and the other triggered emotions that I never thought was possible with such a medium. For this I am forever grateful and will certainly not forget him anytime soon.

    Such a terrible loss, RIP.

  • You know how Hollywood has a compilation every year of all the people who died in their industry? Well, I think YouTube needs to start doing something similar for it's fallen members. People like Stephen, real people, have a much greater impact to me than some rich actor who lives a life so far attached to mine.

  • remember his life not his death. rip my brother

  • Rip, you were a great reviewer, and i always like your reviews, my condolences to your family
