Let me first say that I am a black female who truly admires African culture (for the most part). But I am a bit hesitant to take MARITAL or SEX advice from someone who's country is stricken with AIDS. Just saying.
Polygamy is there to benefit the orphans and those women who have no family to take care of the social needs due to them not having had a mother and father or losing their husbands during war, death etc. It is not a perk as it comes with a lot of work to sustain and maintain multiple wives. Also it is also a blameworthy act if the male does not treat the women equally, so it can also have a bad effect on society just as bad as not marrying those women and them having to struggle on their own

As a Muslim woman I agree wholeheartedly with polygyny. Everything that my Lord allows, I accept, and everything that my Lord forbids, I accept that too. That's what it means to be a Muslim, a person who submits his or her will (desire, wants) with what Allah wills. I am of African descendant but I am also a Christian, and as a Christian I honor my single wife and treat her with respect in the same way she does to me, I don't need another woman to replace my sexuality or the company my wife provides. Polygamy is there to benefit the orphans and those women who have no family to take care of the social needs due to them not having had a mother and father or losing their husbands during war, death etc. It is not a perk as it comes with a lot of work to sustain and maintain multiple wives. Also it is also a blameworthy act if the male does not treat the women equally, so it can also have a bad effect on society just as bad as not marrying those women and them having to struggle on their own

Yahuah allowed polygyny (polygamy means more than one SPOUSE) and has NEVER abolished it. However, if a man desires the position as a leader in a congregation of Believers, he MUST be of but ONE wife. I believe a reason (could be more reasons?) for this is due to the fact that it takes more time, effort and devotion to have more than one wife, therefore they cannot give an appropriate amount of time, energy and devotion to the body of Christ they are to minister to.

Adam and noah had 1 wife.
I believe polygyny in the bible was used to build and increase the children (nation) of Ysrayl. I also believe polygyny should be used with a purpose (reason,structure), not just so a man can have a reason to have many sex partners.

As a system it is abhorrent and always has been. By definition the system can only be DOMINANT in a society where the vast majority of people do no have the opportunity for one-on-one relationships.
Because births are generally split roughly 50/50 between males and females , it stands to reason that for even HALF of men to be in a polygamous relationship, the other half would have to be romantically unengaged.

This proves u dont understand HIV and how it spreads. HIV and polgamy are not an issue. the issue is when the men go off and sleep with strange women and then come home. When u know where your man has been u have control. When he is off messing around it is what causes HIV. Polgmay households in Africa have a lower HIV footprint so that argument makes no sense.

Because ur divorcing a man or a woman, doesnt mean u should also divorce ur KIDS, u should still be their for them, and spend time wit dem too... Yeah it will. Number one it builds community and a strong family structure. Two when there's a large majority of women and not a lot of men this will ensure stability and progress. If you read better, you can see that many poeple on this video say that the bible does support polygyny.....the same bible that those who follow Christ use!! I don't have to be a Christian to know that the new testament says that marriage has to be between 1 man and a woman. Yet many pro polygyny say that some men in the bible (old testament) did practice it too. Polygamy was never right, not even when the men in the bible committed the acts. God created Eve for Adam, not Eve, Barbara and Jane. The fact men went on later to collect all these women, and in Solomon's case,800 for political reasons, never made it right. It merely emphasized the fallen nature of man. Even more so, it was men abusing their authority as they always do. To know the long reaching affects of such behavior, we need look no further then the middle east.

If my husband came to me saying he was getting a second wife, I'm not going to lie. I would be jealous but I would be happy, and do all I could to be friends with her. We know for a fact that both men and women stray in a "commetted" relationship. If this wasn't the case then there wouldn't be sex workers,mistresses, the other woman, etc. It's only natural for a man to want more than one woman, and if he wants to give the repsect and love then allow him to marry each one. I don't see anything wrong with ploygamy if done correctly. My mom is the second wife out of the three her husband has. She works, has her own home, drives a car, etc. She is not opressed

As a black Non-Religion American male, I firmly stand against polygamy because it is inherently sexist! If you allow your husband to seek other wives/families, you indirectly allow yourself to be treated as a piece of property! There's no way that men would allow their wives to pursuit a polygamist lifestyle.
