wanna cut spending? get rid of social security. people should work no matter how old they are. how did reaching a certain age become a license to loaf? s.s. is the ultimate welfare program. as long as it exists any other spending cuts are just a joke. but no tea baggers address s.s. do they? hmm, i wonder why? not to mention medicare, the abomination that steals medicine out of baby's mouths in favor of people who'll be dead soon anyways. brilliant!!!
Death Panels, Haha when your doctors says you need a medical procedure, he has to clear it with your insurance provider first. So isn't the insurance company one big "death panel" because if they say "no" your ass is dead!!!
Lieberman, I sure hope Baldwin goes and knocks your As* out of office. You proved your BS in the 2008 election and "put off health care reform" until we're out of this depression? Yes, let's drop your effin coverage too and see how long your old as* makes it before you go BK?
Did hitler give health care to everyone? I guess obama is hitler also because he decided, "gee, I was ELECTED because people demanded health care."
I'm so sick of these pundits saying "don't but a beauracrat btwn you and your doctor. WELL. if you have regular insurance, that's what you're stuck with anyway."
the public option has become such a lightning rod. The American Medical Association is dead set against it, Big Pharma rejects it out of hand, and the biggest insurance companies won't consider it. No other issue in the current healthcare debate is as fiercely opposed by the medical establishment and their lobbies now swarming over Capitol Hill. Of course they don't want it. A public option would squeeze their profits and force them to undertake major reforms. That's the whole point.
Critics charge that the public plan will be subsidized by the government. Here they have their facts wrong. Under every plan that's being discussed on Capitol Hill, subsidies go to individuals and families who need them in order to afford healthcare, not to a public plan. Individuals and families use the subsidies to shop for the best care they can find. They're free to choose the public plan, but that's only one option. They could take their subsidy and buy a private plan just as easily.
Sounds good doesnt it shopping around, one problem though is the public option is if you enroll you may never disenroll, AKA medicare. essentially private insurance will be gone in a generation, good riddance, I am sure the Govt can run it better like VA and tric-care.
How is that a lie? it is right there in the bill, once you enroll you cannot. Same with medicare, once you are on medicare, it is your primary source of insurance everything after that is ancillary. There is nothing wrong with that, that is just how medicare works and how this plan will work.
Critics say the public option is really a Trojan Horse for a government takeover of all of health insurance. But nothing could be further from the truth. It's an option. No one has to choose it. Individuals and families will merely be invited to compare costs and outcomes. Presumably they will choose the public plan only if it offers them and their families the best deal -- more and better healthcare for less.
No offense TPM, but you put a D next to Lieberman while CNN got it right with I for Independent. The Dems don't want that cowardice cunt back in the party.

A $300 million cash-for-clunkers-type federal program to boost sales of energy-efficient home appliances as washing machines and dishwashers, but its probably not enough to lift companies such as Whirlpool (WHR) and Electrolux out of the worst down cycle in the sectors history. The program authorizes rebates of $50 to $200 for purchases. The money is part of the broader economic stimulus bill passed earlier this year.

Oh ya he pledge allegiance to the white/blue not the red/white&blue. I think the major reason Lieberman switch parties was cause obama wanted to get out of iraq and focus on Afghanistan and also didn't wanna go into iran. Which all those are Israeli interests obviously.
McCain wanted to go nutz on iran and middle east in general.
It's not choice of plans we need, it's choice of doctors, and the freedom to be able to afford them. Under the insurance companies we have neither. We need single payer now!
Well you have republican's preaching how bad government is, and how untrustworthy they are. And they get into office, and congress and they prove it. When they make decisions that lack regulation, and they give tax breaks to the VERY WEALTHY, they prove they are incompetent to run government. When you have people, such as the conservatives that do not have the best interests of the people in mind, and only big business, aka INSURANCE companies, the only people that win are the millionaire CEO's
To Richardgwm: It amazes me that people don't realize exactly how much power the insurance companies actually have, and yes THEY make decisions that can decide whether a person lives or dies and forget what the doctor thinks. So in essence we already have "death panels" and this is not being dramatic.
Talk to a person who needs special medication and the insurance company won't cover it or the co-pay is too high.
If anyone is still confused about the health care bill you may find the information on my profile in the comment section helpful. Also included are ways in which you can get more involved including phone #'s, petitions etc..
Hilarious & sad that McCain used to have the beltway sold on a 'Maverick' label.
Even w McCain Feingold--where's the beef? Where's the sea change this thing ushered in? Where's Walnuts' measurable 'trustbusting' on military industrial questions?
This asshole can't even 'talk straight' about the 'death panels' nonsense.
We can't spend $1 trillion on universal coverage. In fact we can't spend it on anything domestically. we need that trillion for overseas opeations and exerting our influence on the rest of the world. building embassies the size of the vatican, for instance.
This is how politics works. The democrats get in power, pass legislation that improves the country. The republicans manipulate legislation to give big corps the advantage, then scream about socialism and fear monger.
Idiots believe the nonsense, vote them back into power.
They fuck everything up, then people wise up and vote the dems back into power to clean up the mess.
rinse repeat.
look bow many natural disasters have occured already just this year yet we havent had a katrina scandal?
Grassley - "But if we move from having the public option being the only option, then choice is taken away!" What is it with Republicans and their strawman arguments?
Remember the Republicans always protect the wealthy, in this case the huge insurance industry! They want their rich cronies to make $20 million a year because they are the guys who send the support to keep the Republicans in power. Sure depend soley on the Insurance companies, and when they say NO (when you need help) where you gonna go?
"According to the Economist the total US spend on health care is 15.4% of GDP including both state and private. With that it gets 2.6 doctors per 1,000 people, 3.3 hospital beds and its people live to an average age of 78.2. As a whole Europe spends 9.6% of GDP on health care, has 3.9 doctors per 1,000 people, 6.6 hospital beds and live until they are 81.15 years old. If we would model the European health plan we would save 1 Trillion Dollars a year. 1 Trillion !!!
I dont even know why we even are listening to the Republicans and Joe lieberman. because they are not going to vote for the bill regardless of whats in it or not.
Grassley especially, is fucking up the bill and he isnt even going to vote for it
yeah! what is up with that. "i won't even vote for my own bill?" the only thing i see him working hard to do is ruin the chance for any and all types of health care reform. i've watched the film of HIS town hall meetings. just because a couple hundred ARE there to applaud his every other word, there are millions that aren't.
the insurance industry must be sweating bricks right about now.
exactly grassley is such a moron. "The point of reform is to promote choices"
Well whats the oint of having a choice if you cant afford any of the "choices"
Cost control should be the central focus of the bill, and the public option is the ONLY provision in the bill that will lower costs.
The republicans are playing games and the bluedogs need to be voted out. This bill should have passed from july, i dont know why they are wasting so much time. to protect insurance companies?
Oh-but the private sector. The private sector is excellent at running healthcare.
That's why we spend more on healthcare than anywhere in the world, and hang around at the bottom of nearly every health statistic in the developed world.
Healthcare costs are the number one cause of bankruptcy in a country which desperately needs people to be able to pay their bills.
In Canada the government is already cutting back on healthcare because they can't keep up with the costs. Eventually Canadians will end up with nothing because of incompetent, inept, moronic government.
The reason the free market doesn't work is because government won't enforce contract law. The Insurance Corporations break contracts on a regular basis with impunity.
The US dollar is toast right, all paper money is based on the US dollar because its world reserve.
Nixon ended the gold backing of the US dollar for a reason, (1971)the destroyed world reserve with the blessing of all world leaders. Physical gold or silver because the paper is only good as toilet paper.
You trust government ? I don't they're incompetent fools but taxpayers are brain dead hamsters.
at 2:27 it say "D" as if Lieberman was a democrat.
In fact, he was a republican (R) that posed as a democrat (D), once it was revealed he began posing as an independent (I) who campaigned for John McCain (R).
Now his political career is almost over so his opinion should not matter.
Its simple republicans slowed it down to kill it in July. They and Fox News declared victory too soon! Now, they are getting all wee wee'd up because they have been called on it. The momentum is shifting back!
Sorry Charlie, Whatever momentum a huge new spending bill ever had has been eclipsed by that pesky little detail called reality. That reality is called WE ARE BROKE! When we can come to a place when we can wrap our minds around this irrefutable fact then and only then can we move forward. Many of you on this site have had the scales pulled from your eyes. Break out ,wake up . You have been sold out , fight back , join us in our campaign for liberty. peace
You want to go even more broke? Let the health insurance companies raise their premiums another 200% in the next 5-10 years. It's already one of the leading causes of bankruptcy.
You sound like Joe Lieberman.
How come no one gave a flying fuck about the spending when Bush was president? Until we finally ended up in the worst recession of our lifetimes?
We won't let Obama do anything because we let Bush do everything.
There is a serious misunderstanding that is prevalent here . #1 is that those of us who oppose the puppet Obama were supporters of Bush,Nothing could be further from the truth .#2 That our movement is in league with corporate interests. What insanity that we are not able to see through the lies .We as a country are BROKE, It trumps every statist pols. wish list ,including B.O. Get your facts straight, Ron Paul supporters are consistent in looking this monster in the eye and calling its bluff
he is a smart man but he is also insane. Rona paul wants to stop funding anything thats not in the constitution.
Schools, the FDA, the all scholarship programs, all health care prohrams including medicare etc.
If he had his way, we'd go back to driving horse carriages.
I dont think ron paul supporters actually listen to what ron paul is proposing. All they hear is legalise weed, and end the war. They dont listen to his positions on other issues
What bothers me is, you do seem to be a lot louder now, that we are trying to fix this mess than when Bush was actually making the mess.
What also bothers me is that the Bush administration & most republicans seem to just be a watered down version of your views. They believe in deregulation-which played a significant role in the mortgage crisis. They believe in tax cuts-especially for the wealthiest Americans.
It was not deregulation per:se that ruined the balance of the market, rather it was the artificial incentives, mandates that removed the risk. The same people that spread the cancer of greed and corruption are now in the drivers seat at the discredited banking regulation, the foxes are in charge of the henhouse . Anyone complicit in the giant ponzi scheme that we call the U.S. economy are on the wrong side of history. You are right , We are louder every day , we are not going away.
I do want to stress that our movement is angry at the "born again conservatives "who are trying to piggy back on our movement . Every politician who voted for the war ,the bailout etc. is gone .We are starting all over. This is the only way to clear the deck for a rational discussion on how we can take care of each other . Fraud is fraud ,no matter who is the author. We are under the rule of men rather than the rule of law
I thought "Deficits don't matter". Who said that again? We are not broke unless we are "healthcare" in America. There has never been healthcare in the country and when we are finally close we have people who come up with any and all arguments to prevent passage.
Joe was right about one thing: Sometimes we have to put the most difficult decisions off until the economy is actually booming again. I mean, what kind of morons push an expensive cap-and-trade bill during a recession?
Oh, that's right, Obama-supporting Democrats who don't know a thing about economics. They probably slept through that class in college.
Well republicans always claim to be geniuses at dealing with the economy-yet the people they nominate for president always increase the national deficit 2 or 3 times higher than it was.
Last time us economically-retarded democrats put someone in the white house-he lowered the national deficit and balanced the budget. Only president in the last 30 years to do so.
but he didn't do it in 7 months. 7 months into office, the economy was still fucked up because he was also following a Bush.
Joe Lieberman is SUCH a joke. Wow, he is just the epitome of everything that sucks so bad about our government.
If America really wants to help itself out-vote all these losers out of office and put in some people who are gonna actually try to get something DONE.
All of a sudden doing absolutely nothing is a GOOD thing, that's supposed to make you electable?
Democrats - Scientific way of determining which procedures are most cost/effective for which diseases and making this information available to providers more easily.
I wish I lived in a country where the worst political move you could make is to stand in the way of progress-like that LOSER Lieberman, or Chuck Grassley. Or where you told stupid, fearmongering lies, like John McCain.
With the exception of Schumer-what we're seeing is people who should be OUT of office. People who make Washington this wishy washy place where nothing ever gets done! I'm sick of this. These guys come out and confidently talk about doing nothing like its good!
thanks for the heads up about mccain being in this video. i had time to pause and count to ten beforehand.
what an old, bad liar he is. bet they edited out the parts where he shakes his nead no when his lips are saying yes. couldn't even bring himself to say her name. i'm all for THAT, though.
george looked good and he really, truly challenged the old fart, then let mccain repeat the same tired party lie to hoist himself. job well done, george!
McCain's and Grassley's presentations were logically absurd and intentionally misleading. Lieberman merely talked himself into blind alleys and left himself there.

My advice to Senator John McCain- LEAD!
Have private back room meetings.
1. Tell Sarah to shut up, she is scaring republican vets and seniors with her lies. Tell her to tow the line if she ever wants your support again.
2. Tell Steele the same. Shut up!
3. Tell Boner, he cannot go on TV for 6 months! And oh yea, shut up!
4. Talk to Nancy, tell her of the huge favor you just did for her. Tell her she WILL start to work with you to straighten out this H/C mess.
THEN LEAD!

The below listed link will take you to a video that has info on Gov having direct access to your bank account.
Also in the notes I have several links to 2 of which are different websites that breakdown the HR 3200 bill plus answer any questions you might have.
Hope this helps,

Well you have republican's preaching how bad government is, and how untrustworthy they are. And they get into office, and congress and they prove it. When they make decisions that lack regulation, and they give tax breaks to the VERY WEALTHY, they prove they are incompetent to run government. When you have people, such as the conservatives that do not have the best interests of the people in mind, and only big business, aka INSURANCE companies, the only people that win are the millionaire CEO's
yanks1022 2 years ago 4
We have death panels now. They are called insurance companies.
Richardgwm 2 years ago 10
To Richardgwm: It amazes me that people don't realize exactly how much power the insurance companies actually have, and yes THEY make decisions that can decide whether a person lives or dies and forget what the doctor thinks. So in essence we already have "death panels" and this is not being dramatic.
Talk to a person who needs special medication and the insurance company won't cover it or the co-pay is too high.

UnitedHealthcare CEO Stephen Hemsley has $744,232,068 in stock options. 2007 pay $13.2 mil; 2008 $3.2 mil.
CIGNA CEO Edward Hanway made $120million in last 5 years. Stock options valued at $28,881,000.
Humana CEO Michael McCallister's 2007 salary was $10.3 mil. 2008, $1,017,308. His stock options total $60,865,194.

In fact we can't spend it on anything domestically. we need that trillion for overseas opeations and exerting our influence on the rest of the world. building embassies the size of the vatican, for instance.
that's clearly more important.

Grassley - "But if we move from having the public option being the only option, then choice is taken away!" What is it with Republicans and their strawman arguments?
fishhead06 2 years ago
Remember the Republicans always protect the wealthy, in this case the huge insurance industry! They want their rich cronies to make $20 million a year because they are the guys who send the support to keep the Republicans in power. Sure depend soley on the Insurance companies, and when they say NO (when you need help) where you gonna go?

Public Plan save a Trill

Grassley especially, is fucking up the bill and he isnt even going to vote for it
3star2nr 2 years ago 3
3star2nr:
yeah! what is up with that. "i won't even vote for my own bill?" the only thing i see him working hard to do is ruin the chance for any and all types of health care reform. i've watched the film of HIS town hall meetings. just because a couple hundred ARE there to applaud his every other word, there are millions that aren't.
the insurance industry must be sweating bricks right about now.
hobnailrose 2 years ago 2
exactly grassley is such a moron.
This bill should have passed from july, i dont know why they are wasting so much time. to protect insurance companies?
fuck them

Government administering social benefit means taxpayers will eventually end up with nothing.
Government is too incompetent to run a war never mind healthcare.
Example Katrina debacle = total inept hamster government in action you want to trust them with healthcare ?

I dont know the fire department and police department seems to run efficiently
Fact is government CAN run health care very efficiently. The only time things get fucked up is when republicans stick there hands in it
case in point. Republicans pass medicare advantage, medicare went broke.
Republicans invade iraq and afghanistan, now were stuck there
Republicans institued the torture policy
pushed for deregulation which led to the markets crashing
The peoblem isnt government its the republicans
3star2nr 2 years ago 2
Oh-but the private sector. The private sector is excellent at running healthcare.
That's why we spend more on healthcare than anywhere in the world, and hang around at the bottom of nearly every health statistic in the developed world.
Healthcare costs are the number one cause of bankruptcy in a country which desperately needs people to be able to pay their bills.
Beautiful job the private sector is doing Boots.
zndprophet 2 years ago
In Canada the government is already cutting back on healthcare because they can't keep up with the costs. Eventually Canadians will end up with nothing because of incompetent, inept, moronic government.
The reason the free market doesn't work is because government won't enforce contract law. The Insurance Corporations break contracts on a regular basis with impunity.
boots920 2 years ago
lol, you should look up what Canada's debt is.
hint: it's a LOT lower than ours is.
zndprophet 2 years ago 2
Its all based on paper though isn't it ?
The US dollar is toast right, all paper money is based on the US dollar because its world reserve.
Nixon ended the gold backing of the US dollar for a reason, (1971)the destroyed world reserve with the blessing of all world leaders. Physical gold or silver because the paper is only good as toilet paper.
You trust government ? I don't they're incompetent fools but taxpayers are brain dead hamsters.

Now his political career is almost over so his opinion should not matter.

the insurance companies know that the public option will destroy them. simple. they'll scratch and claw all the way.
i'm with obama. all the way.
hobnailrose 2 years ago
Its simple republicans slowed it down to kill it in July. They and Fox News declared victory too soon! Now, they are getting all wee wee'd up because they have been called on it. The momentum is shifting back!
Ezekiels1 2 years ago 4
Sorry Charlie, Whatever momentum a huge new spending bill ever had has been eclipsed by that pesky little detail called reality. That reality is called WE ARE BROKE! When we can come to a place when we can wrap our minds around this irrefutable fact then and only then can we move forward. Many of you on this site have had the scales pulled from your eyes. Break out ,wake up . You have been sold out , fight back , join us in our campaign for liberty. peace
sailfished1 2 years ago
You want to go even more broke? Let the health insurance companies raise their premiums another 200% in the next 5-10 years. It's already one of the leading causes of bankruptcy.
You sound like Joe Lieberman.
How come no one gave a flying fuck about the spending when Bush was president? Until we finally ended up in the worst recession of our lifetimes?
We won't let Obama do anything because we let Bush do everything.
Pathetic.
Fucking dumbass America.
You sound like Joe Liberman.
zndprophet 2 years ago 2
There is a serious misunderstanding that is prevalent here . #1 is that those of us who oppose the puppet Obama were supporters of Bush,Nothing could be further from the truth .#2 That our movement is in league with corporate interests. What insanity that we are not able to see through the lies .We as a country are BROKE, It trumps every statist pols. wish list ,including B.O. Get your facts straight, Ron Paul supporters are consistent in looking this monster in the eye and calling its bluff
sailfished1 2 years ago
Ron Paul!?!?
he is a smart man but he is also insane.
3star2nr 2 years ago 2
Well thats what I expected you to say.
What is it that makes you different?
zndprophet 2 years ago
It was not deregulation per:se that ruined the balance of the market, rather it was the artificial incentives, mandates that removed the risk. The same people that spread the cancer of greed and corruption are now in the drivers seat at the discredited banking regulation, the foxes are in charge of the henhouse . Anyone complicit in the giant ponzi scheme that we call the U.S. economy are on the wrong side of history. You are right , We are louder every day , we are not going away.
sailfished1 2 years ago
I do want to stress that our movement is angry at the "born again conservatives "who are trying to piggy back on our movement . Every politician who voted for the war ,the bailout etc. is gone .We are starting all over. This is the only way to clear the deck for a rational discussion on how we can take care of each other . Fraud is fraud ,no matter who is the author. We are under the rule of men rather than the rule of law
sailfished1 2 years ago
I thought "Deficits don't matter". Who said that again? We are not broke unless we are "healthcare" in America. There has never been healthcare in the country and when we are finally close we have people who come up with any and all arguments to prevent passage.
Ezekiels1 2 years ago
Joe was right about one thing: Sometimes we have to put the most difficult decisions off until the economy is actually booming again. I mean, what kind of morons push an expensive cap-and-trade bill during a recession?
Oh, that's right, Obama-supporting Democrats who don't know a thing about economics. They probably slept through that class in college.
whoo689 2 years ago
What kind of morron starts 2 wars in the middle east.

3star2nr 2 years ago 6
Well republicans always claim to be geniuses at dealing with the economy-yet the people they nominate for president always increase the national deficit 2 or 3 times higher than it was.
Last time us economically-retarded democrats put someone in the white house-he lowered the national deficit and balanced the budget. Only president in the last 30 years to do so.
but he didn't do it in 7 months. 7 months into office, the economy was still fucked up because he was also following a Bush.
zndprophet 2 years ago 5
Joe Lieberman is SUCH a joke. Wow, he is just the epitome of everything that sucks so bad about our government.
If America really wants to help itself out-vote all these losers out of office and put in some people who are gonna actually try to get something DONE.
All of a sudden doing absolutely nothing is a GOOD thing, that's supposed to make you electable?
Pathetic!
