John Keel is the original Indiana Jones. Very very funny, and all class. I think he's wrong about Christianity, but he nailed everything else way better than most.
"There is obviously some kind of large animal that's living in Loch Ness". I speculate that Keel stated this literal (physical) interpretation because it was generally more acceptable than the paraphysical interpretation. The TV studio audience would be largely unfamiliar with the phenomeon; hence Keel cannot delineate his more controversial conclusions on camera. However, Keel does hint at the true origin of these creatures when he says: “The same place as where the dinosaurs are coming from.”
@RoninDave Keel was overstating the facts (as many do) and making huge unwarranted assumptions about the causes. It's no coincidence this was back in the days of the SRA craze.
@terrythecensor so? this was 1980 - try to understand that. He was stating what he knew at the time. The animal mutilations were and are a strange phenomenon.
@RoninDave My point is that paranormalists too often spread sensational "facts" and conclusions, often without foundation. They know their audience doesn't want to hear skeptical caution, they want to hear juicy nonsense -- and the customer is always right.
@terrythecensor John Keel was the 1st journalist 2 write about cattle mutilations & Larry Ratso Sloman was the 1st editor 2 print what he was writing. This wulda been only a few years after that when it was all still new. I'm sure your field work dwarfs Keel's though, so I'm sure ur arrogance is justified LOL

This was nice until Keel said a bunch of stupid stuff about animal mutilations. I think he was smarter than that.
terrythecensor 9 months ago
@terrythecensor why was it stupid? He was just mentioning a phenomenom that had been occurring

A shameful time of baseless moral panics.

@RoninDave He didn't "know" anything of the sort -- no one did, but they ran wild with it anyway.

@terrythecensor what is your point? You're splitting hairs especially over briefly spoken comments made in the last 2 minutes of an interview.

@terrythecensor you're still splitting hairs. If his own spiel had been about animal mutilations then you might have something but really you don't

@mesinging418 Keel and the like published mutilation work based on supposition. That is their fault, not mine.

@terrythecensor LOL & whose fault is it that ur a pompous talentless nobody with a mouth bigger than ur brain? LOL I blame u.

@mesinging418 Say what you like about me, but I didn't make money by manufacturing and selling fear, as did the people you are defending.
