Also in the original broadcast, the final scene, right before the "package" credits, was Yukon Cornelius discovering a Peppermint Mine! He shouts 'Yahoo!" and Hermey the Elf falls backward into the snow in disbelief. Then the credits run.
The DVD release from about 2000, or 2001 has BOTH endings strung together!
The Peppermint mine scene followed by the return to the Island Of Misfit Toys.
They were never originally together. In 1964, the credits came right after the Peppermint Mine scene.
