Exorcism exists in many cultures and religions, not only in Catholic. You can't see or can't understand something does not mean that it doesn't exist. e.g. Can you see electricity? Does it exist? And I'm an engineer.
I personally don't believe in these kind of things just because it seems a little rediculous in my mind. But, it doesn't mean that something doesn't happen. I'm not an expert on these kind of things, and I don't think any person is an expert on something super-natural, which would be impossible since we are not super-natural ourselves.

It is simply mental illness manifesting itself in culturally mediated ways. Demonic possessions in non-Christian cultures take on the characteristics of the belief system of that culture. Atheists, having no belief in such things, will not manifest mental illness in such ways.

The funny thing about religion is...which one is right, if any? If The Muslims are right...all other religions are bs. The explanations you propose are definitely valid and may be true in certain cases. That does not mean that there is no such thing as demonic possession. Many times as a result of exorcism people get 100% better as in the case of Bill Ramsey /watch?v=cmbvDrd-ZVo.
