In all honesty her voice is slowly coming back. I think that it can fully recover if she takes a year or so off to nourish it correctly.Meaning no screaming ,minimal talking, taking vitamins, drinking only water,working out and meditating, then gradually start to ever so gently retrain her voice. Remember the body has been known to heal itself. Lastly she has to stay prayed up with total serenity!!! It can be done but she has to take the step of really going inside of herself which takes guts.

Not bad........but seemed like she has short breath.....if you heard clearly...she sing it very fast coz the short breath and....and did stacato to hide it. She also get very rough in high notes.
The things Whitney to do right now, is sing with her lower key, her lower key is very beautiful actually and very soulful, she dont need to go to high notes anymore with that.
I was a this event and she sounded much better in person than thses low quality clips..I wa also recenly at her New York party and I tell you her album is HOT!!! HOT!!! The years of talking, drinking, or whatever puts a strain on the body and the vocal chords are no exception, especially as a singer. Her Mother Cissy and Aunt Dion were great singers, but started sounding not so good at around 50. She still sounds great but not as good.
The voice won't last forever; her Mother, Cissy Houston had a great voice, and her Aunt, Deion Warwick, but when they pushed 50, their voices started to crack, creak, and waver, they could still sing don't get me wrong, but around 50 or pushing 50 they didn't sound as good anymore; not saying the same will happen to Whitney, but it might. So...she'd better take this possible last window of opportunity to rake in. She don'tsound as good in the past in my opinion, but she sounds great.
I think the problem with whitney houston voice is not a vocal- cord- problem anymore but she lost almost all of her breath support. I think she still is smoking cigarettes and I think she developed some sort of slight lung emphysem. She has to quit smoking maybe her lungs will recover.

Yeah, but what about how her voice is unstable when she tries to sing long notes. I hope I don't sound silly because I am not an expert on voice, so that is why I am reaching out for answers. It just seems as if she has more of a bronchial problem than a vocal cord problem since she still has her vocal tone.

I love it when singers age. They no longer resort to high notes and vocal prowess to show emotions. They now rely on phrasing and style, a more difficult method that only through years of singing can be developed. I am now more inclined to reminisce and feel the song than ever before.

if she gets her range back, the upper registers have been gone since 2004. the cracking has lessened but she can't hit those upper notes. the transition is gone. her voice has gone baritone-like. =(
she does sound better, I agree. I still hear a few flubs, but still she's better. Still looking for some of those light beautiful inflections. Y'all know what Im talking about. She's being careful to stay away from those higher notes and understandably so. She' s taking baby steps. Lets hope for the best in the future.

Her voice doesn't lack, range, flexibility and breath support because it was recorded on a cell phone. It sounds like ass because she has NO voice left. Notice that the people in this section of the room are not cheering, there's nothing TO cheer. This is horrid.

I have worked with a lot of people you would know including Whitney for many years. It takes its toll on you it really does. I was at Clives Party and let me tell you this tape doesn't do her any justice..she was fantastic. She has been working hard to come back BIGTIME and Whitney fans she is ready!
It's interesting to read about how people have these stratospheric expectations of Whitney, or Babs, or Mariah, Celine, etc. Like they have a cold and suddenly they "suck." Singing is susceptible to the same as any other physical activity: fatigue, injury, illness, and yes, aging. Voices change with time, yet still we compare these talented singers to their former selves even when such a comparison is no longer fair. Whitney is still a great singer, even if not the same as before.

I think the problem with whitney houston voice is not a vocal- cord- problem anymore but she lost almost all of her breath support. I think she still is smoking cigarettes and I think she developed some sort of slight lung emphysem. She has to quit smoking maybe her lungs will recover.

This is damned good. Sorry to those who think she's lost it. I have seen this song performed live and this is just as well done as many of her other performances of this song. And this is live. I can only imagine how she will sound in a controlled setting. No doubt.....SHE'S BACK.

i think she worked well with what she has, like i always say "it is what it is" we cant take her voice point blank i she can sing, then she can sing. its like halle berry people will have thier own opinions about shes ugly or cute but at the end of the day it is what it is she is gorgeous. it is what it is whitney's voice is undeniable we must remember how she was it isnt the same time has changed

Remember that Whitney did drugs and smoked for some years. Also, she has gotten older...so her voice bcould naturally lower over time.

Yeah, but what about how her voice is unstable when she tries to sing long notes. I hope I don't sound silly because I am not an expert on voice, so that is why I am reaching out for answers. It just seems as if she has more of a bronchial problem than a vocal cord problem since she still has her vocal tone.

You could be right...but then again, with the voice, it is use it (properly) or use it. Her voice is not in shape anymore. I'd have to get a scope down her throat to be able to fully tell.

Thanks for your help. I am just so disappointed. Even before the drugs, Whitney smoked cigarettes, thereby never protecting or appreciating her voice. And now, she is only 45 years of age and sounds like an old screaming woman. Sigh!

I love it when singers age. They no longer resort to high notes and vocal prowess to show emotions. They now rely on phrasing and style, a more difficult method that only through years of singing can be developed. I am now more inclined to reminisce and feel the song than ever before.

if she gets her range back, the upper registers have been gone since 2004. the cracking has lessened but she can't hit those upper notes. the transition is gone. her voice has gone baritone-like. =(

she does sound better, I agree. I still hear a few flubs, but still she's better. Still looking for some of those light beautiful inflections. Y'all know what Im talking about. She's being careful to stay away from those higher notes and understandably so. She' s taking baby steps. Lets hope for the best in the future.

Thank You for your comment.. It is so true. Whitney has been singing her entire life and for about 15 years singing HARD ! I sing for a living too as a professional back up singer. I have worked with a lot of people you would know including Whitney for many years. It takes its toll on you it really does. I was at Clives Party and let me tell you this tape doesn't do her any justice..she was fantastic. She has been working hard to come back BIGTIME and Whitney fans she is ready!

It's interesting to read about how people have these stratospheric expectations of Whitney, or Babs, or Mariah, Celine, etc. Like they have a cold and suddenly they "suck." Singing is susceptible to the same as any other physical activity: fatigue, injury, illness, and yes, aging. Voices change with time, yet still we compare these talented singers to their former selves even when such a comparison is no longer fair. Whitney is still a great singer, even if not the same as before.

I m happy to see Whitney back on the scene again, doin her thing! She's not the way she used to be, we all can say that! But, if you think about everything and every stage she has been thru since Michael Jackson 30th anniversary, to now, Its good to see she still has some voice left, some energy, some more Weight on them bones, a new glow and beauty!
