Dude, you see what capatilism does? It cuts forest trees, builds concrete, and destroys crop fields. Free Puerto Rico!
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama need to stop being these fanatics of war. Nuclear Proliferation, Peace with Iran, Get out of Iraq, Go through the U.N so that Kosovo independence is right under international law. Free Puerto Rico 1898 Puerto Rico had autonomy but was invaded by the U.S.! FREE PUERTO RICO!
FUCK YOU to CORPORATIONS, that is the slogan I have and ....Yes, it is a simple 3 words .......WHY? Because, do you really think it is because of a shortage on grain, RICE and other food, that is the reason why many are starving???? , NO!!! it is a lie
Corporations to blame? There is a shortage of food staples partly because of ethanol production for fuel. However, I think mostly it is because of market speculation. The cost of fuel has risen dramatically and the cost of food has risen dramatically. The result is a reduction in the amount of food going to the world's neediest. While there might not actually be a shortage of food, there are higher costs associated with consuming that food and obviously, people are failing to afford those costs.
Very observant, but rice is a subsitute for corn. As the cost of corn rises, people will look for a dietary subsitute like rice. The demand for rice will then rise and so will the price.
Ok, all grains are rising. American farmers receive more for their corn by making it in to ethanol. Plus Ethanol production and the jobs that come with it are in every congressional district. Opposing Ethanol is political suicide because you are saying no too millions dollars of investment and hundreds of jobs in small towns across America.
A BIG LIE ...it is because of corporations monopolizing, Privatizing(buying, tricking, or forcing taking the peoples natural resources and land). Fore, with militarily. BIG CORPORATIONS do it for money. ALL IN THE NAME OF MONEY. They control the food, the economy almost everything. By keeping the demand high and Controlling "keeping Supply low" they make a lot of profit
Hahaha, you're so cute. Grain production has tripled in the last 40 years; so much for keeping supply low. Wait, I know, if that moronic conspiracy theory doesn't fly, then maybe Monsanto is infecting everyone with tapeworm so that they eat more! Yes, that's the ticket!
If countries were more self sufficient and less inter-dependent, then there would not be such a problem. In my opinion, it is the failure of the government to not feed its own people. While some profit motivated corporations are very powerful , they are not absolutely responsible for food shortages. One could argue that the corporate structure of agribusiness is more efficient and produces more food than an otherwise less affluent substitute.
This is the major problem I see with globalization. They want every country to be dependent on every other country for something. They don't want anybody to be self-sufficient at anything.Individual governments DO need to be more responsible for their peoples.I believe America would have less of a "Mexican problem" if Mexico's government was more willing to take care of it's people. For example. And that's not about race,it's about governments taking care of their people.
........in another word THIS BIG CORPS. Lie, kill, steal, force dictate to make money white other starve and etc "this is just another money making advantage for the corporations "Corporations, They care not of the starvation of Billions but the starvation of their pocket".....well it is time to say stop ...STOP!!!!!!!!STOP!!!! Time for a change, time for a REVOLUTION!!!!NOW

I've been burning food to heat my home this winter. I saved more on my Gas bill than I would have got for selling it. I live in the breadbasket midwestern USA.
when are people going to learn that rationing and price fixing only makes food shortages worse. you see it time and time again, politicians think there helping but their attempts at a cure are always make the problem worse then it would have been.
Agreed. All they are doing is making it more scarce outside the country, thus driving up the price. This equals NOT helping the problem. -In fact this could lead to being a threat for Brazil (and other nations who ban) since people in neighboring countries may actually raid along the borders for food.
yes, it is really intended to keep the domestic price low but this will discourage farmers from growing more then they can sell domestically thus making the problem we have now of expensive food into a long term shortage.

you don't make ethanol from rice. You can't grow corn on rice farms.

Then, opposing bio-diesel in every district should be political suicide,as well. For all the same reasons.

Consume less.
Most of us here in the US consume too much of everything.
Tell Congress to stop funding the use of food grains for fuel!

Yes, the prices for crop were below the costs
for firewood some time ago.
So rising prices are not only bad.
The big problem is the poverty on this planet,
so many people are not able to pay realistic prices for crop, and have nothing else to eat.
That´s horrible.
